There is no way they could fit all the excellent details from the book into a 2 and a half hour movie but they did better than I could have expected! Anyone giving a negative review on this movie clearly doesn't understand that there are things (and characters) that could not be explained in a simple clip. The movie would really become choppy with too many story lines. I was glad that they showed more of a connection between the characters in this movie so that they won't need to explain that in the next one considering all the other details that must not be left out! Excellent! BRAVO! Can't wait to see the next one!

All Harry Potter movies are wonderful. There full of action and emotion. I feel that this movie was cut short. They left out the most important parts. There wasn't even a fighting scene in the end. All other Harry Potters are very serious and give you an in depth look at things. This movie had more humor. It still was a good movie. It was an amazing story, but a good movie. I sure do hope the seventh book isn't cut short or ruined because if that happens I think ill end up loosing all faith in Harry Potter.

I thought this movie beat all the other Harry Potter movies that have been released thus far. I enjoyed watching it especially at midnight with the whole theatre -- every seat -- filled up. I liked the suspense, great sound effects and music that were included. I would recommend this movie to any friend.

I liked that the movie carried on where the last one left off. The characters were well developed, the romance factor really worked. It was not overdone but captured the mannerisms and relationship quirks of each. I really loved how Ginny and Harry related, with Ginny quietly supporting him in a sweet way and was really nice to see Hermione and Ron finally get together. Loved the Horace Slughorn character and as always, Snape, Bellatrix and Draco were easy to hate. As long as it was, thought they could have covered more ground. I really loved the last battle at Hogwarts in the book but the movie really covered very little of it. All in all, it was a very good movie, not the best of all of them.

Of the 6 books, this is the one I expected to be the most difficult to put on the big screen. The cinematography, acting and character development were all superb. There were a few points in the book that did not make it into the movie that some might feel were crucial to tie everything together. I do recommend reading the book in addition to watching the movie. All in all, I think this is another excellent Harry Potter movie, and have already recommended it to several of my friends. Just like the book, this movie leaves us hanging at the end, and anxiously awaiting the next and final movie.

After being disappointed with the date being pushed back from November to July, I am glad they did, the effects were great, and although I was familiar with the storyline, was greatly impressed on how the movie touched on everthing important from the book. At 2 hours and 33 minutes, it is well worth the discomfort of a crowded theater. The way the story plays out is brilliant.

Obviously, if you read the book, you are going to (or already have) seen the movie. Many sub plot points from the book were consolidated or condensed (even with a run time of 153 min), and parts of the ending were omitted, but overall I think it worked.
I think there might have been some parts that come out of left field for people that haven't read the books, but having read the books, I understood.
If you are a fan of the Potter series (books, movies, or both), you should see this. If you haven't seen or read any Harry Potter, try watching the first movie, and if you like it, continue and then watch this one.

I have read all the books and liked all the movies. I thought the last movie got the tone right and this one did as well. The movie is good and handles the darkness (Dumbledore) and light (girls) very well. The only annoying thing is the changes from the book that were not needed. Some changes make sense and you can't keep everything, but other changes are just stupid or lazy. I enjoyed it a lot, but wish they would stop making small changes for no reason.

I also read the Harry Potter books, so this accounts for my rateing. There is one part of the movie that never happens in the book and isn't needed for the plot. It also could change how the net movie will begin...not a good sign. Then there is a VERY important part that was totally left out that will totally change the net movie. There is a piece of information that Harry and crew need to drive the entire plot of the next two movies. This information is not given to them in this movie. Otherwise I really liked it. It's one of the funniest movies in the whole series. If you don't read or care about the books then this movie is a five.

I seem to be alone here, but I felt the film fell short on the entertainment level in that it was very anti-climactic. The best part about it was the humor. And the parts that I felt should have really meant something just didn't measure up. The potential ending it could have had (with me bawling my eyes out) left me with a ho-hum feeling. Just hoping that Deathly Hallows Parts 1 & 2 redeem themselves.

Unfortunately, I have read the books and felt that the movie could have held up to the previous films standards in keeping in crucial information. Some more of the memories or at least the explanation of Voldemort (from the memories) could have been factored in. In some ways, the film felt as though it were jumping from Quidditch post to Quidditch post.
Overall, not horrible; even pretty good -- but still, I would have paid to sit an extra half hour for a little more detail into some of the parts (like explaining why Tonks doesn't look like herself and what happened there, too).

Considering that The Half Blood Prince was far more condensed and complex than any of the books before it in the harry potter series then it is truly impressive what they have done here. It was well done, the screenplay was amazing, the pacing was great, the acting was beautiful, and the movie represented the book so very well that this makes this by far the best HP movie in years. Not since the first movie have we seen one of these books so accurately made into a movie and with such a long book. This was really an incredible movie. It has all the content of a five hour movie packed into 2.5 hours without it feeling rushed, and that is really great movie making.

I know it doesn't follow the book, but I couldn't really remember what happened in the book when I watched it. That made it more fun, in a way. Very good movie, overall. I enjoyed it much more than some of the previous Harry Potter movies.

I found this movie to be delightful as are ALL the movies. However, the scene of the Borough being attacked and burned was not only NOT possible due to charms, but an unnecessary scene. The other part I thought was crucial was the battle at Hogwarts school between the Death Eaters and the Order of the Phoenix. I give it 4 stars..it was funny, magical, intense, hardly ANYONE moved once the movie started.
I still think that THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS is the best book to movie adaptation, with THE SORCERER'S STONE right behind it.

Beautiful filmed, well-acted, but plays like an installment in a series. If there are people who didn't see the previous movies, or who have forgotten them, they'll probably find The Half Blood Pince unsatisfying. I loved it and also enjoyed the fun of going to see it at midnight.

Even though the movie did have differences from the book, it was great. I do agree with some people that they should have not added in scenes that were not in the book and they left out the two most important scenes in the book.They changed the movie so they can have more cinima appeal if that makes sense. The special effects in the movie were spectacuar! Really. The director,David Yates, did an outstanding job! This was the best Harry Potter movie yet. I applaud everyone who worked on this movie.

This movie was incredible. It had all of the elements that I loved from the book: the darkness in the memory sequences, the mystery behind Draco, the romance and comedy, Harry's paranoia with the Half-Blood Prince. It had all of these elements and it all flowed well together. Every side of the film was balanced perfectly. And all thanks to the directing by David Yates and the writing by Steve Kloves. No complaints for them. Another strong point was the acting. The highlight performances given by: Michael Gambon, Jim Broadbent, Daniel Radcliffe and Tom Felton. They each brought their characters to life perfectly. All in all, an amazing film in which I had an amazing experience in. It was everything that I asked for and then more. Go see it.

You can't say "Wasn't as good as the book," because that would be ridiculous to achieve; otherwise you'd have to watch this in a 2 parter or something(that's the last movie)! You can however appreciate that they stuck mostly to all the important details to make it flow. All the Harry Potter movies never disappoint, including this one of course! Excellent special effects! Every book reader knows what is to happen in this story, and it was done very well- even made me cry! I can't wait for final movie(s)!

HP 6 is the best yet of the series. The immediate immersion in action is enhanced by the blurred line of the "muggle" world and the magical world. The special effects are excellent and not simply gratuitous. While the movie does somewhat deviate from the book, as far as the history of Voldemort, and a puzzling scene at the Weasley's, it does not take away from the integrity of the story. Along with unexpected humor, there is "the edge of your seat suspense." Overall, the movie is excellent and entertaining without the vulgarity that many of today's movies contain.

Me and 4 of my friends went and saw this movie at midnight on premere day and it was flippin awesome. It was better then the others and the director did really good!!!!!!!!!!!! Its amazing and funny and has lots of action! But i personaly think it should be rated pg13 for all the violence. There was a lot of comedy and it was actually really funny.
