its not that it was a bad movie, but it wasnt a harry potter movie! the excitement and magic of the movie was missing. It was a cheesy teen crush movie. I went to see this movie with very little confidence in it. The PG rating made me doubt the film's capability to portray the book accurately. But I think it still did the book justice. Nicholas Cooper and David Yates did a much better job on this movie than on the previous.
New scenes in this movie might not be in the book, but they conveyed various parts of the book through them. The acting in this movie was excellent too. There was probably a little too much romance in it, with some very unnecessary parts to it, but overall, it's a funny, but touching, well-made movie.

This movie was an utter disgrace to the book. I understand cutting out stuff....okay but they cut out IMPORTANT scenes, ie finding out about Tom Riddles parents and the ring, and added in scenes like the weasley house on fire which NEVER HAPPENED They never explain who Fenrir Greyback is, at all AND THE OMISSION OF THE FINAL BATTLE SCENE Im not going to another one.....because if they missed this critical information that LEADS INTO the seventh book and movie....then the seventh and eighth movies are gonna suck. How are you gonna explain why bill is scarred up at his wedding?? Or are they going to omitt the wedding all together?!?!!?!?!

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is by far the most artfully created film yet. As with every film, a few parts of the book were left out, but they did not detract from the overall experience of the movie. This movie provides a combination of elation, humor, fear, and sadness like no other. Romance takes a leading part in the lives of Hogwarts students, a new and exciting addition. Readers of Harry Potter books will not be dissapointed as the cast proved more perfect for their roles than ever and events in the book were conveyed flawlessly. The filming and directing of the movie was fantastic! The actors faces were so in to character it was amazing. The downfall of the moviewas that it can't compare to the book. Some of the most simple of parts in the book that help analyze the characters were skipped. Also some of the parts that were put into the movie were done wrong. It wouldn't be that big of a deal but these were crucial parts of the book and they were made horribly. On the bright side between Daniel Radcliff's amazing facial exressions, Emily Watson's way of saying her lines and Rupert Grint's hilarious antics the movie is still a hit.

Although the best movie thus far (in my opinion, of course) is Prisoner of Azkaban, Half Blood Prince is one of the best movie in the series. It's definitely a movie targeted for teenage and young adult audiences. Emotions run high and low, there's quite a lot of "snogging" as the British put it, and comedic timing is up to par with the ever growing and bettering cast. It does lack, however, the battle royal that the book made a point of playing at towards the end. Also, the darker theme Rowling gave in the book was slightly overshadowed by all the humor. I recommend it though, it was brilliantly directed and filmed. I'll even venture to see it again while in theatres.

The movie focused more on the relationships and humor, which was fun to watch (I'm sure I laughed more in this movie than any other HP movie so far), but that kind of took away from the serious and dark tone which you feel when reading the book. I felt that the action was underwhelming, and there could have been a bit more of it. Overall though I was thoroughly entertained, and the 2.5 hours flew by.

Overall, not the best HP Movie, but still worth seeing. People who have never read the books should enjoy it immensely. To me, a die-hard book fan, it was a disappointment. For all those like me...hang in there. They have 2 movie left to get the 7th and final book right. Michael Gambon is not, and never could be, Dumbledore. He was better in this movie than others, but still not convincing. On the bright side, Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), stole the show. He was absolutely amazing, and played the part beautifully. His was, I believe, the best performance of the movie.

I agree that the movie is very different from the book. However, this movie and all its predecessors always manage to tell the story in a way that does justice to the book, without following it word for word. I think they achieved making the movie very entertaining and honored the heart of the story. This is a great installment to the Harry Potter series and I plan to watch it many more times.

Yes, a bit different from the book - but you have to cut something, right? I loved that they had Luna find Harry - and the scene at the burrow. We went at midnight - had to watch looking UP from the second row, which is so hard to do yet 10 minutes into it, I forgot I was uncomfortable. We're going again- and again in 3D - before this one hits DVD.

This movie was very action-packed, with spurts of comedic humor throughout. It has some dark/somber scenes, so I'm not sure I'd recommend it for children under 8. (Good luck keeping them away though). It kept with the book really well, better than the Order of the Phoenix. I really enjoyed it, and I look very forward to coming out on video. I would watch it over and over, so I highly recommend this film. Enjoy!

To begin with, the movie is not as good as the book. I felt that the movie was really funny and really well done when I was not trying to compare it to the book. They took out a lot of scenes and put in different scenes, and some of the characters know information that they shouldn't know, where in the book it doesn't get revealed until the very end. I felt that there was a lot of ascending action and then it never really hit a climax, no point of return. It maintained a good entertainment level but it almost seemed monotone. There are some really good parts and the acting has gotten exponentially better. To sum up the movie, it was good, but a bit disappointing.

Harry Potter and the hlf blood prince was amazing. I loved it. It was so worth seeing at 12:01. I laughed and i cried i even jumped out of my seat. the book was so much better and i wish that that they would have added more scenes from the book but i still loved it. Poor Dumbledoore, RIP

I am a huge book lover, and though a few things stray from the book, I felt like this was the best movie yet by a long shot! The actors/actresses have matured so much this year, and though we're supposed to hate him, Draco (Tom Felton) is the show-stealer! He does a phenomenal job in this movie. I felt that the last two movies were grave disappointments because i got the feeling that they were just running through the story at full tilt, trying to get to the end as fast as they could. My expectations weren't incredibly high when I went in but I was very pleased to be surprised when it drew me in. Although it didn't follow the book exactly, the movie was overall incredible. I highly recommend seeing it.

I debated whether to give it a 4 star or a 5 star rating after seeing the midnight showing last night. The production quality is top notch. The film was highly entertaining with moments of laughter and sadness. However, I know many of the quality items from the book that were left on the chopping block. It would have been good to have more Tom Riddle memories, building of Harry and Ginny’s romance, and the final battle at Hogwarts, to name a few things. These are minor quibbles though. Fans of the books and fans who are only interested in watching the movies will both find the movie entertaining. It is worth the 10 bucks it will cost you to see it. This is indeed a worthy entry into the Harry Potter saga.

This was a wonderful adaptation of the sixth novel in the Harry Potter series. Uber-fans of the novel may be disappointed by some of the changes, but they must realize that some things must change when adapting a book into a film. I consider myself a potterhead and I loved every minute of this film. I will definitely be seeing it multiple times!

It's a good movie. The cinematography was great as was the acting. The actors are getting a little old and it shows, especially with the boys. They all still look great though. I'm looking forward to the next movie (or two)!

The best thing about this movie is that it left out the parts of that where clearly targeted for children. The movie has a completely different tone than any other previous Potter and that is something that the franchise was in great need for. Positves: Darkest yet Most Personal - more character emotions making the movie feel alot like a drama movie. By far the funniest. Left out stuff purely intended for children. Negatives: Left out alot of the stuff they were learning at school, like Apparation and and non vocal magic. Needed more of a final fight scene when Snape flees Hogwarts. Didn't hear a whole lot from supporting characters. Overall, a great Adventure Drama

I saw this at the midnight movie and maybe I was just too tired but I didn't like this movie. I am a huge HP fan. I have read all the books and seen all the movies. Of course, the books are much better but I felt they really missed the mark on this one. This movie was more of an outline of the book then a complete storyline. It was like they took pieces of the original story and used unnecessary filler (the Weasley's house burning down. Why?) to try to make a new story line. And then burning of Hagrid's house burning without the battle leading up to it as in the book seemed pointless.
I'm sure the movie will do well but if you want the real story - read the book...
