Out of the gate the acting in this film is flat, it was almost as if David Yates told the actors not to put any emotion in their performance. You anticipate the movie not to include everything that is in the book but when the movie changes central themes of the book your left shaking your head. The way Harry and Ginny's romantic interest is handle has none of the spontaneity or satisfying climax you get from the book. The death of Dumbledore misses all the subtlety that sets up Snapes redemption in the last book. The worst part of the movie is knowing that David Yates again is been entrusted with another magical book.

although i really enjoy seeing the book made into a film to see on big screen, i did not feel the true anger i did in the book and there was a major change in the ending with disappointed me. it seemed to be choppy too. it still made me laugh (felix!) but it didnt make me cry.

First of all, the movie as always had awsome cinematography. It also had a lot more character development. I left the theater feeling that I knew alot more about things going on in the background of the film. I personally did not feel this movie measured up to the likes of 'Order of the Phoniex.' The action just wasn't there. I felt at the end of the movie that the battle scene I wanted was not to be seen today. The next movie has to be awsome because this one, while emotional, and revealing lacked any action of the previous titles. This movie made for great drama. My family loved it, and that's what truly matters. It is a clean, fun, film with drama and a little bit of magic. I know you will enjoy it.

Long. Boring. Poorly put together. Childish. Lacked all of the heart-pounding moments of battle and revelation that the book had in abundance. It felt like the actors were phoning it in - Snape killing Dumbledore was horribly anti-climactic. He and the death eaters pretty much walked in and walked out of the school with as much resistance as a postman delivering a birthday present. Truly a waste of time and money.

First of all, it's Harry Potter. It's a MUST SEE, regardless of how good or bad. I thought it was pretty good, even though they left out a lot that WAS needed. Unless you read the book, you wouldn't understand what the "things" were that were attacking Harry and Dumbledore.
They also left out the Gaunt and White Tomb arcs, most of Harry's attempts to follow Draco, as well as Dumbledore's funeral. They weren't NEEDED, although it would have helped explain a lot.
The movie wasn't as dark or depressing as the book. It left out most of Harry's anger with uplifting scenes that were cute and happy. Adding in a scene at the Burrow helped direct the movie back towards the "dark" side. It is still a good movie to watch with a tub of ice cream.

In comparison to the book... it was over-edited (fighting scenes were cut off) I really really liked the SFX in this movie... by far the best yet! I will point out that the pace was very slow & eerie, but that's the same pace on the book (except the fighting sequences) I've heard rumors that the last part will be split in 2... The first part will premiering late next year & the final part in 2011... WOW

I'm a huge fan of the Harry Potter movies and book, and I've learned how to separate my love for each. I do realize the past movies probably weren't so great, except for the 1st one in my opinion. This is what makes this movie fantastic! They quoted A LOT from the book, which was barely done in the past movies. They actually weren't in the right sequence. Which was totally not done in the fifth movie. The actor did a fantastic job! I even liked Albus in this movie, which I didn't in the fourth or fifth.
So if you are wondering, yes this is probably the best Harry Potter movie out there. It's not because I'm a fan, because I know the past ones could be classified as somewhat horrible. Just hope the next two will be just as great!

For those of you who've read the book, think about all the parts of the book you look forward to seeing and resign yourself to the fact that you won't see them the way they were presented in the book - or at all. I will not see this one in the theater again. For me, the HBP was supposed to set up the final installment in a very climactic way, but it was more of a let down. I am hoping that by breaking up the next book into two movies, that justice will be done to the book.

If a movie is playing at midnight, and lasts for nearly 3 hours, dont you think it should be action packed and interesting? The theater I was in was packed full of people, and HOT. So not only was I uncomfortable, but the movie was SLOW. I had to keep moving around in my seat just to stay awake. And when I endured nearly the entire movie, to see how it would all end...I was even more disappointed. They need to just stop making these movies. Positive things I have to say are that the movie set and effects were great, and the characters personal love lives was what kept me most interested. Other than that, I'd say save your $10 and wait for it to come out on video if you're that big of a fan...or better yet...find it free online.

A very entertaining movie, and very well done. Die Hart book fans will feel a little let down the parts that are left out, but lets face it, there are time limitations AND the movie makes the assumption that die-hards HAVE read the book and KNOW whats going on while at the same time keeping the movie within a decent time limit, coherant and entertaining for those who have not read the books (which there are still many). Of the series, one of the better movies so far, capturing the same magic as the first one while creating the serious tone needed for book 6. Some of the best scenes show the awkwardness of a first love from both of the two couples. The movie is appropriate for all age groups.

While I was delighted to be back in the world of Harry Potter and I thought the attention to detail was wonderful I couldn't help but feel disappointed by the end. Not only was it unnecessarily changed from the book it was plain anti climactic. I would venture to say that the last quarter of the film was rushed, time that was spent on the snogging (while I appreciated seeing it!) could've been used on a little more action, or.... perhaps another memory? Overall though I always enjoy the Harry Potter films and relish in being swept away into a brilliantly crafted universe.

A treat for all ages. I have read all the books numerous times and though the movies cannot reflect every piece of a book, the Potter movies try to come close. This was by far the best installment yet. Now to sit tight and wait for the two part finale.

I have got to say...this is by far the BEST movie and it was also my favorite book. There are a few things they kept out of the book that i would have loved to see in the movie but atleast my favorite part was in it (when Harry uses sectumsempra against Malfoy). It was funny and sad at the same time.. I would recommend this movie to everyone i know.. even if you hate Harry Potter..it's that good of a movie!! I do wish that Voldemort would have been in it a little more :( but thats ok..

The movie was missing many of the things that made book 6 the best book in the series, from big things to small, subtle (yet important) things.
Overall, still fun, cute, and delightfully creepy.

The movie was great i loved it all the way up to the end. I did not like the ending it was not how it was in the book and i didn't like how Harry was suppose to break up with Ginny at the end at Dumbledors funeral but this did not happen in the movie. I dtill like the movie and out of the things i disliked i like the setup of this movie overall the others.

I am an avid fan of the books and usually disappointed with the movies. It was not so during Half Blood Prince. I thought this movie was absolutely brilliant. Very few things were left out of the movie, which was my problem with most of the movies. It also added new elements that fit very well. The movie was very real. You can truly see the actors have grown both physically and theatrically in this movie. The emotions are terrific from everyone. I would definitely recommend this movie to everyone, whether you read the books or not.
