Had I not read the book, I would not have understood 90% of the movie! However, the filming was amazing! I am usually disappointed with a movie after I have read the book if the movie does not accurately keep to the plot of the book. This was no exception. Huge, important sections of the book were not in the movie. I spent half an hour explaining what happened to my husband, who did not read the book and was pretty much in limbo throughout the movie. I have all the books and all the DVDs, but I won't buy this one. I hope that splitting the final book into two movies will allow Hollywood to portray the events accurately.

Overall no this movie wasn't near as good as the book, but I didn't expect it to be since they butchered order of the phoenix. But all and all this is the best one yet but the director David Yates has already stated that the 7th movie which will be split couldn't be diluted like the earlier movies due to its importance in the series, so the last to films should be right on the money and if so then i look for more records to be broken!!

It was better then the others even if you didn't read the book it was understandable and easy to follow the excitement held me so much didn't realize the 2 hours and 33 min was gone when it ended I am a senior citizen and believe me this isn't usually my type of movie but so glad I went and had a great experience.

I thought that this was an awesome movie. The acting as well as the story were as if I was rereading the book again. It kept you guess as well as putting a mystery together at the same time. Yet it was also sad at the end at the loss of a key character.

Sorry folks, this one doesn't cut it. It was so boring it was hard to stay awake. Lot's of scenery and music, decent acting, poor script. No action, no real story line. Quite frankly though, of all the books, this one was the weakest. If you're a HP fan, you'll probably want to see it anyway. If you're new to HP, don't waste your time or money.

(ie book always better then movie Hollywood & their ulterior motives) I was very pleased with the movie. Rather by design or not, I saw beyond what seemed to be the obvious. If I know a movie is being made, I wont read the book til after seeing the movie. Yet this time, I was eager to reading, to see if what seems to be betrayal & tragic or if in fact intentional deceptions & neccesary to ultimately out manuvere evil itself. The Order of the Pheonix brought the HP series into the darker world that its author had intended. Public pressure to make it more kid friendly caused the Half-Blood Prince (my favorite book of the series) to be butchered into a very child friendly comedy. The graphics were amazing, but the story was so watered down that it wasn't bareable. It's no longer a young adult series so, unless you're eight, don't waste your time and money.

One of the most anticipated movies of the year, and it is a bore. Like others have said in their reviews, this movie lacked excitement, lacked details, and lacked what we all love about the books...magic, adventure, etc...They left way too much out of this movie from the original book, that in the end it just did not come together. This is the best Potter film yet. Yes, just like the other movies it strayed a little from the plot. However, the changes are necessary, they took long segments, and bound into one. I am sad to see that they didn't feel it was important enough to include a few parts. There's one section in the middle that the action really slows down. I recommend to anyone who is truly interested in understanding everything read the books. I'm sure it will be necessary when the next two movies come out.

Some people have been complaing about HBP not being true to the book. Just like with Lord of the Rings we should understand that it is impossible for filmmakers to cover everything in the book in their movie version. I enjoyed this sixth HP episode as much as the previous ones. It sets us up for Deathly Hallows pts 1 and 2, which I think will be the best of the series.

This movie was bad. It was a waste of money to go to see this movie, wait until it shows up on HBO to see it.
Harry even says at the end of the movie "well that was all for nothing" which is exactly what the movie was.
They seriously could have sumed up the whole movie in 20 minutes and put it in the begginning of the next movie.

It was good but as always I preferred the book. So much of the movie was choppy and didn't seem to flow together very well. I would rather see an excellent movie where the film makers have taken their time and tried to follow the book as closely as possible, than see one that seems to be rushed in order to meet the fans demands. Loosely based on the book by the same name, the adventures continue but the magic, potitons and wizardy are more adult. There is a little bit of all the familiar things from the past, Hogwarts, Quiddich, Dumbledore but the entire plot hinges on knowing that Voldamort has returned and his Death Eaters roam freely. The relationships among the friends are complicated by romantic interests and Harry spends a large part of his time assisting Dumbledore in his quest to find the seven pieces of Voldamort's soul that have been hiddent to make sure he lives eternally. Seemed a bit long but there is much ground to cover and those who have not read the book will flounder with the plot. Good movie but I don't think it is the best!

This movie seemed a bit slow in parts. There is a LOT of exposition in the book this movie is based on, so some of the long-windedness of the film is to be expected. Reading the book, the big shock is the death of a key character, Most people (even those who haven't read the book) know about it, so it really takes a lot of the suspense out of this film.

It was not what I expected. It was slow and most of it was boring. NOT worth paying $10 a ticket and standing in line at midnight. If I had known, I would have waited for it to come out on Redbox for $1.00.

Movie was very well developed. Characters thought out and acting exceptional. Obviously they will need to make a second movie to complete the book because it ended in a "not quite finished thought" place. But all in all the best by far of the series. Highly recommend!

It lived up to my expectations. It didn't hold exactly true to the book, but I think that it would be impossible. Other wise it would have become a 5 hour long movie. It was amazing. I will be able to watch it again and again and jump every time. Well made.

The best so far in the series. The character development is much better and they clearly have matured in their relationships with each other.
