This movie was definitely better than the last movie- but then again, that's not exactly a hard thing to do. They added some really unnecessary scenes, and left out some really important ones, and changed the whole astronomy tower scene...I'm still not sure how to feel about this film. It was by FAR the funniest HP film, and the acting (for the most part) has improved. Alan Rickman = amazing!!
If you've read the books, go see it, but don't take it too seriously. If you just watch the movies, it's a great film.

Like others I was a little disappointed with the changes from the book but movies aren't the same medium and sometimes changes have to be made. As a movie standing on it's own it was excellent and it still keeps the basics of the book. Special effects were fantastic, the boy/girl relationships were cute and we all enjoyed it very much.

I really enjoyed the movie overall. The character development and the acting were the best of the 6 movies so far. Most of the film looked exactly as I pictured it when I read the book. My only disappointment was with the ending. Without spoiling it, I felt that they missed a HUGE scene from the book that was needed to set the tone for the end of 6 and to prepare you for the 7th. The events needed to be much bigger to set the tone for what follows. Beyond that, the movie was beautiful to watch and really enjoyable.

The film was very entertaining to watch, and the acting was well done throughout, especially the performance by Tom Felton. The problem is, The Half-Blood Prince, as the book was written, is supposed to set up The Deathly Hallows. This was not done at all. They took far too many liberties changing the book. For example: no battle scene at Hogwarts Then they added a scene (not in the book) where death eaters burn down the burrow, and it is never really developed or explained. It is completely random. It was a dark book meant to set up the 7th installment, turned into a romantic comedy.

I am a big Harry Potter fan, and up until midnight this morning the fourth film remained my favorite. However, this movie's accuracy to the novel blew me away. I was skeptical at the beginning where some detail was pulled and it was a tad out of order. But once it got onto the Hogwarts Express, it took my breath away. The most extraordinary part was the scene with Harry and Dumbledore in the cave- Rowling's description was depicted spot on, not just for me but for many others around me. The terrifying immortal appearrance of the Inferi could not have been better. Despite the sightly differing ending, this Potter movie could not have been any better.

I can not believe how anti-climatic this movie was! The movie was very slow, so much so that I fell asleep in the theater. Many of the most exciting scenes in the book were edited out and the ones that weren't were undramatic to say the least. I must say I had extremey high hopes for this movie, seeing has how the previous two movies were exceptionally spectacular, but was let down through the entire movie. Granted, there were a few amusing scenes that dealt with all the teeange agnst, but other than that the movie was surprisingly unmemorable.

The sixth Harry Potter film is leaps and bounds better than the ones of the past. There is no point in whining about what was in the books that didn't make it to the big screen. The books are simply to long to get in every fun little detail. HBP managed to at least give us a full story, and it can stand on it's own as a film. It looks like someone made these kids take acting lessons, because the perfirmances were exponentially better than before. Tom Felton was the star of the show, with his anguished performance of Draco Malfoy. Daniel Radcliffe was less wooden than he has ever been. Rupert Grint gave an brilliant comedic performance; the whole theater was in hysterics.

I liked the way the movie was shot.. I liked the way it flowed.. there were more funny instances that I remember from the book.. and of course, the climax, the fight, its not in the movie which made it feel unfinished. I will never understand the reason why they change the storyline on the books whenever they make a movie about it. Hopefully the DVD has all the missing parts.
Supposedly the last two films will not disappoint and they better not! I'm glad they are making the last film into two parts, that way it won't miss a bit.

I really loved the movie there were a lot of funny things in the movie. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was average at best. Although it followed the book's events better than the earlier movies it moved at a tired rate.
Too much of an emphasis on side plots and not enough on the main story. The movie and especially the ending made me feel empty and cheated.
I just hope the final two movies are genius and do JK Rowling some justice. Here we go Deathly Hollows, do not disappoint.

I loved this movie! Followed the book story very closely, except in some situations, but we can't expect perfection, specially when the Half Blood Prince is a very long book. This is surely not a happy ending movie, and that is great, because this book has a sad ending, and we cannot expect a cheerful ending like the other movies, because Dumbledoor just died! So it's very accurate in my opinion, and I really look forward to the next Harry Potter movies by the same director. Great acting by all the actors. The only scene that I would remove is the beginning where Harry is fleurting with the girl in the restaurant.

My family and I went to see the midnight show. The crowd was awesome - really in to the whole experience. The movie was great - as usual. My only knock would be that it did not follow the book very closely. But, given the size of her novels, how could it. They could have made every book into multiple movies and still not gotten it all in. Half Blood Prince does a great job of setting up the tone for the final two installments. I can't wait!

this movie could have used a little more umph. whether it was with more music or dialog or just something, i felt it dragged in some areas and some shots were just unnecessary. i absolutely love the books and if they wanted to just make the movie longer they could have stayed more true to the book instead of just trying to find filler to make it 2 and a half hours. there were many changes and many omitted parts of the book that needed to be there. i mean seriously did we need to blow up the burrow? and the relationship aspect was all off. ron and hermione arent that close yet in the book, and what was with the dinky kiss between harry and ginny? he kissed cho hotter than that and ginny and harry are supposed to be a couple?

The movie made a terrible mistake in changing the ending (the Death)..... There is no DA Death Eater showdown to create a distraction for Draco in which was the point of Draco getting Death Eaters in, in the first place. Thus the main plot line = zilch (Vanishing cabinet to sneak in Death Eaters) no character growth shown outside the four characters (Harry, Hermione, Ginny, Ron) TONS of cheasy acting by Daniel Radcliff (a.k.a. Harry Potter)....
Alas this is no tale but a double love story recorded in a diary by 4 best friends that just so happen to go to a magic school that ignores the larger world in general. Go read the book and forget this movie, go watch a good chick flick.

The first two hours were pretty enjoyable. Well worth waiting for.
But the ending ... what was up with the ending? It's like going to a fireworks show, expecting a blazing finale, and getting ... two guys with sparklers.
I'm OK with "suspending disbelief" while watching movies. Especially with movies like these: it's part of the deal. I'm OK with the compromises and changes necessary to bring a book to film. But the book ending is such a brilliant combination of emotions and adrenaline, yet the movie just sort of fades away. "Please." bang. Walk away. Break a window. Cast a couple weak spells. Harry just stands there, and the rest of the school is empty. Dead ... like the ending.

I thoroughly enjoy this movie. As with all the HP movies, there were a lot of things from the book that were left out of the movie, but that's the case with every book/movie. I loved it enough to go to the theater to see it again and to buy it on DVD. But be aware. In my opinion, the theater experience of this movie in not for children. Just as the tone of the frist 5 movies have become darker as they progressed, this one continues that pattern. It has some intense scenes. I loved it!

I thought the director missed the tone of the book. Harry was very mad and hurt after book 5 with Serius dying and understanding the prophecy. They also left out the deparate feeling everyone had that people were dying and the new Minister of Magic meeting with the Prime Minister. All goes to set up the tone for how deperate things were. To have that stupid train sceen at the beginning and not have the Dursley's in the movie is just sacrilege. I also thought not showing the Gaunt family and TR's killing of his family to get the ring was also another missing piece. The movie was too short and the director didn't setup the deperation of the situation leading into the next book.

I sat in the theaters for 2 hours waiting until 12 so this movie would play. I wish it hadn't... This movie had many problems but the biggest problem that I had was the utter lack of a plot. The whole movie had no center it was just a bunch of random events from the book put together. The title of the movie is "Half Blood Prince", the diary that belonged to the half blood prince was only in about 4 scenes. I feel as though the movie was lacking in acting as well. This film features more tacky, lame jokes from Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and even more over acting from Hermoine Granger (Emma Watson). I would not reccomend this movie to anyone who wishes to go see a movie that has structure, a plot or good acting.

Although I am usually a very picky movie goer when it comes to my favorite books, this Harry Potter film did not disappoint. It stuck to the plot of the book where it was important to, and also included little things that they could easily of cut, just to appease the loyal fans. Although some things were cut or changed, it did not detract from the overall value of the movie. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone, the acting was good, the plot moved well, and the way they balanced humor and darkness was, in short, brilliant!

Huge Fan of the Books - I grew up with Harry Potter, and even though parts differed from the Book, it is impossible to make a movie exactly like the book, BUT overall was an UNBELIEVABLE MOVIE and by far the BEST one yet, and the first one to leave me SPEACHLESS!

I thought Half-Blood Prince was very well done. It could not have been easy to decide what to leave out, but the essential elements of the story seem to have been retained. The actors have matured and improved with age and experience.

As far as the Harry Potter movies are concerned it is one of the better ones. However, I was disappointed by some of the content that was glossed over in the movie. I understand that the movies can't include everything from the book but I don't understand leaving stuff out and then adding your own stuff in. That being said, it did have some really great moments that were picture perfect. Be prepared for a very anticlimactic ending though.
