Although I've heard many people say they didn't like this movie and thought it was too long I have to disagree. Different from the other movies, this movie has moved away from the wonders of magic and towards the great story of Harry's life. It is both terrifying and hilarious, which is rare to find. Although the movie seems long to some, I failed to see what they could have taken out. This movie is a pertinent part of getting to the resolution of this long journey and I found it to be just as magical as all that have come before.

I enjoyed the movie and would recommend it to a friend, but I was disappointed about how much of the book was left out of the movie - especially the battle scene and funeral and the end. If you haven't read the book, the movie might not make sense to you because so much background information was left out.

This is a good movie. It doesn't follow the book that closely but I enjoyed it. Much darker than the previous movies. Did the sun ever come during the film? All the "Snogging" got to be reduntant after a while. I can't wait until the next though.

For the sixth in the seven movie series, the directors, producers and actors have managed to keep movie-goers interested, and even excited, about a plot known so well world-wide.
This Harry Potter episode brings in more cerebral quality and emotional depth than previous movies. It does sacrifice a bit of the action, and deviates from the purity of the books that the others managed to maintain. However, the enthusiast will not be disappointed to see that the spirit of the novel was alive and well, and the general viewer will appreciate that key points necessary to tie one movie to the next are in place as well.
For an evening out, with children or without, the movie entertains and keeps most people well engaged.

Another cinemagraphic marvel in the Potter tradition. A lot of time is spent on the matured trio discovering the magic of romance. While Harry is not as actively in pursuit, he is left to work on serious matters wthout as much help from his team as in the past.
Past characters keep popping up and Head Master D is much more actively involved instead of his usual working from the sidelines.
For those who have read the book, this might leave the viewer a feeling of half book much like its' title Half Blood Prince. Omissions and variations will be noticed but probably leave you with wanting to see the next one even more.

I thought that it was really awesome. There wasn't as much action as the last movie but the story it told was very important. I would like to see it again to see if I pick more up but what I saw I enjoyed and thought it was an extremely inventive story. For action The Order of the Phoenix was better, but for a really great story I think this is my favorite so far.

I thought this movie to be very good. Although it is one of the more serious movies, I found it put together quite well. This movie might be a little too dark for really young children (say 4-7 ). It also left me wanting to see the next one ASAP.

After Order Of The Phoenix, I was so excited to see the next film, The Half Blood Prince. It was a big disappointment. I took my niece to see it. After the film, she looked at me and said she couldn't remember half of what we'd just seen. Neither could I. It was so dull. The acting, the cinematography & special effects were great as usual. The script was pretty bad. The talented cast couldn't hold my attention. I must give a thumbs up to the young actor playing Draco Malfoy. He showed great maturity. But, again. Dull film.

I have now seen the movie twice, but have never read the book. I thought the movie was better the second time as I was able to pick up a lot of the "little hints" for the future. The first viewing was a little disappointing because there wasn't as much "action" as I expected and the focus on the "relationships" didn't seem to advance the "Harry/Voldemort" plot. However, on the the second viewing, knowing what to expect, it was much more enjoyable. The acting was great.

I was absolutely disappointed. I finally took the time to read the book (before the movie) and was shocked to see so many alterations to the storyline. Does J.K. Rowling have no say to how the movies are written? Where was Dumbledore’s funeral? The sixth book was awe-inspiring, gripping and significant; whereas the movie was a magnificent “disillusionment”. My friends who have not read the book told me they hated the movie because it was slow, disjointed and ended abruptly. I sincerely hope the Director’s excuse that the book was too big so they had to compress the story lines is not the case with the last book. Since they are breaking it into two movies, I hope this excellent series comes to the end that it rightly deserves.

It is necessary to set up the plot and essential to watch if you are in to the HP series. Necessary film to keep the franchise moving towards the finale but it dragged at times. There was almost 2 movies with the first being all about teenage issues, a bit too much really, and the second being the battle which ends with Dumbledorfs death. It will be interesting to see how the last 2 films turn out both in length and pace. At the end I left the theater witha "HHmmm...fun movie but certainly not WOW." Almost better as matinee material.

We were very disappointed esp in the ending. All of our friendstold us this was THE best movie of all-NOT! It was very anti climactic. they should've include the MORE needed battle of Hogwarts the night Dumbledore falls. That sets the scene for the next movie b/c many of the characters are intricate to the story line of The Deathly Hallows. Not all details can be included but c'mon! The Battle of Hogwarts and Dumbledore's last stand are the climax of the Half Blood Prince. This watered down version lacked depth & emotion. the movie barely brought a tear to my eye. Whatever you do don't play the Harry Potter nintendo wii video game before seeing the movie. As I sat in the theater, I got the feeling that I had already witnessed all the action before. The video game ran through the movie, stopping to let you play at certain parts. The game matched the movie to a "T." Kinda disappointed. I'll never do that again. Overall movie was good. When compared to the other movies, 'Half blood prince' did not live up to their graneur. I do not have much time to sit and read during my day. I will now have to read the book to see what I have missed. Thanks

I absolutely loved this next installment of the HP series! I had just finished re-reading the book so my expectations were high. They did a remarkable job distilling the really important plot lines. The acting was outstanding on all levels. I missed Neville, and some of the other regulars but the focus on Harry and his friends and enemies was certainly appropriate. I can't wait to see it again!

Unless you're a HP fanatic, fully engrossed with all the characters from reading the books, this is a very slow-moving and self indulgent bore.

Contrary to some reviewers, my husband and I were not disappointed. As the books got longer it became ever more difficult to condense all the plots and subplots into a movie of reasonable length. Unless each book was done as a mini-series I don't see how all the action, plots, etc. could be left in. Difficult choices had to be made about omissions. While I would have liked to have seen some more of the book show up in the movie as well,a good job was done in including the needed portions of the book. My husband and I would also disagree that it was too comedic. There were funny moments, but the angst of teenagers, stress and danger were effectively conveyed.

I was so looking forward to seing the Half-Blood Prince because after seeing all the other movies and reading all the books I was looking for more of the book in this movie. It was watered down and the fight in the end was not as exciting.
