Over all a solid movie: Ledger's performance was outstanding and the entire movie kept me on my feet. The action, story, and ideas were fantastic.
However, I was disappointed with two things. First, (without giving anything away) the fate of the Joker seemed to not be enough for such an extreme character.
Second, the villain that appears later in the movie (once again, trying not to give away anything) would have been great for a sequel, but wasn't developed enough for just an appearance in this movie.

The "Dark Knight" provides a glimpse on the darker side of humanity. A view of where humanity is continuing to move towards, a feeling of hopelessness and darkness. Where are the real heroes? Even Batman stepped over the line of what was right.

Without question whoever is writing these Batman films deserves Oscar recognition. The story is so well written you understand the back story of the characters and feel invested in them. Heath Ledger's performance is brilliant, chilling and does homage to his body of work. Christian Bale, is outstanding in this character. I thought when I saw the first Batman film "who is this guy?" Now I want to see more of him!

Dark Knight was well worth the fact that i sat 3 rows from the screen. I was excited to see the movie and all that it had to offer. Heath Ledgers performance was amazing. He was funny yet scary. I enjoyed the twists and plots. It was an amazing film and desrves all the good reviews I would and plan to go view the movie again.

This Batman has outdone the rest. I used to think that the original Batman, with Michael Keaton was the best. Now I have a new favorite Batman. The the acting, the action, and the Heath Ledger performance was amazing. The special effects were great also.
I would recommend this movie to everyone. Well worth the money spent.
Heath Ledger was a brilliant actor, ashame the Hollywood community has lost him.

lot of action with good acting. The only flaw I saw was the
actress cast to play Rachel Dawes. Heath Ledger as the Joker
was amazing.
Looking forward to more Batman movies, though will find it hard to top

The movie and the actors were good. Like all Batman movies, it was a bit dark and depressing. (Sort of like real life, huh?) It was especially sad to see Heath Ledger and think how sad his life was ended so tragically.

Loved it but some scenes were way too dark. You couldn't see any of the fighting because there was not enough lighting. Coming back from the restroom I couldn't find my seat for 5 minutes because there was not enough light from the screen to see anything.
Other than that, it was fantastic. Ledger was great but Bale was Caine were just was engrossing.
Worth the $8.75 matinee price, or the $13.50 directors hall evening price.

I don't know if it's possible for a superhero movie to be THIS good. Maybe it's not fair to call this a "superhero flick". But somehow Chris Nolan & his ensemble cast pulled it off wonderfully.
From the opening ariel view of Gotham City (and the one of the best and most memorable bank heists you'll ever see on camera), until the movie's closing narration, "The Dark Knight" is a tense, captivating, and phenominal experience.
The cinematography was breathtaking (IMAX cameras go a long way I guess). The score always seemed to set the tone of the scenes so nicely. And lest I forget, the acting was (especially for a so-called "superhero flick") spot on.
Let's just get straight into the Joker: possibly the strangest, most twisted, and absolutely FASCINATING villians I've ever seen. I couldn't help but notice and awe at every twitch, and movement Heath Ledger made; every dart of his eyes and every change of his (truly) bizzare voice kept me mesmorized.
But that's not to say that this completely dwarfs the performances of the other actors. Bale's 2nd turn as Bruce Wayne/Batman was excellent. And Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent embodied a truly tragic hero, one who's descent into darkness will haunt you as you leave the theaters. Excellent supporting turns by Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman also go a long way with such limited camera time.
Overall, a powerful experience, and an awesome film!

This darker approach to exaggerate the villains definitely makes this for older kids and up, but the movie (or basically 2 or 3 movies) is great if you don't mind the sore bum after 180 minutes and 25 minutes of previews. I don't quite get Batman's "Clint Eastwood" voice, but I appreciated all his gadgets as usual (Come a long way since the shark repellent on the ol' utility belt). Chief Gordon's character was well done. Goes without saying Heath’s Joker was very impressive (Sorry, Jack, but I liked his angle as much if not better). In addition, so was Aaron Eckhart's role(s). I thought they could have shaved about 30 minutes off the movie by removing the Dawes/Gyllenhaal (sp?) role as it was fluffy and annoying if anything. I guess the batman movie's require the estranged girl to make the formula work, even if boring and not needed. Worth seeing! Oh, and especially impressive given there are no CGI graphic effects - amazing! The china scenes were especially impressive.

EASILY the best movie Ive seen in ages. I mean months if not years. I had heard the hype about Keith Ledger for a while but the trailers hadn't impressed me, but WOW, was he good, I had no idea he was this good of an actor, dead or alive, his performance was oscar worthy. The action is better, the plot thicker and sexier than any movie ive seen in a long time. The ONLY downside was the long lines for this justifiably rad movie (and the fact that I had to pee the whole time, cuz it is 2hrs and 40 min) but was fun and thrilling every second till the end.

This film alone totally re-writes how Super Hero-comic book movies are made, and will be made.
With an intelligent script and unbelievable acting performances, I fear this may never be duplicated. Hopefully Hollwood will take notice and understand that the public really does like things played to the vest and most importantly, not to judge them. By sticking very close to the true identity of Bruce Wayne and Batman, they have set the new standard. Audiences do not want to be insulted by producers or hollywood big shots thinking they know what will play in the heartland. What plays (everywhere), is staying true to the characters and storyline. Batman is in reality, a vigilante. He is the Dark Knight. Finally, Hollywood got it right!

As you may have heard, Heath Ledger as the Joker is awesome. He really steals the movie from Eric Bana. Heath's performance is eery, cryptic and way better than Jack Nicolsen could have ever tried to accomplish.
Even if you're not a Batman or Heath Ledger fan - go see this movie. It will blow you away!
