Great but Long Dark Knight

Over all the Dark Knight is the best treatment to date of Batman. Bale plays it close to the cuff. Ledger is brilliant as the Joker. He successfully toes the line of a villian that is totally off the tracks without be "over the top".
Oldman as a Straight laced Commishner Gordon is under utilized. Vicky Vale was the weakest character and I did not buy the romance or Rivalry over her.
Just a touch too long for my liking, a little better editing would have made it a tighter flick

Really well done. This Batman continues to be pensive and dark. Acting all around is very good, but Heath's Joker reaches another level, you can't wait for him to be on the screen. A sure Oscar nomination and probable win. The effects are excellent, doesn't everyone want a Batmobile like that? Not for small children as there are some frightening scenes that could cause nightmares. An adult Batman, just the escape needed this summer.

The movie was a really great movie, I loved it. Heath Ledger did a good job in his last movie. Christian Bale was awesome. I would say it was the best batman they had ever made!

We're a very critical bunch of movie-goers. It was a bit long and dragged a little about 3/4 of the way through, it picked up again and delivered! Christian Bale is the best actor to play Batman yet! (Not begruding Michael Keaton, who also was great... just not quite as good.) Batman is not a suave character, but a bit dark and searching. He really portrays it the way it should be! Michael Caine is in his element - he brilliantly walks the edge of servent/friend/mentor with a touch of cynacism and humour. Heath Ledger just nailed it. WOW! What an amazing performance, and something that he could be proud of leaving as his final legacy.
Aaron Eckhart, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman were all terrific as well. Maggie Gyllenhaal was okay, but just lacked the spark I would have liked to have seen from her character. It was fun to see Anthony Michael Hall there as well reporting away.
It's the small details that make a good movie really great , and this movie was great. Bringing Cillian Murphy back for a small part as the Scarecrow, for instance, and the beautifully done genesis of Two-Face.
I can't wait to see more of this particular Batman franchise. I really want to see how far they can take it... and really do it the way it was meant to be done!

What can I say, the Joker stole the show again. This time Heath Ledger had a big shows to fill following Jack Nicholson as the Joker and not only did he fill them,I thought her did a better job. A Oscar worthy performance by Heath Ledger as the Joker. I would definitely see it a gain and recommend it to any one.

Easily one of the best movies I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of movies. The music/sound effects were particularly impressive as Nolan used some things I'd never heard before to build tension or warn of impending danger. 5 out of 5. Will not disappoint.

Dark Knight was a complete bust for me, but
my seatmates gave it a seven. The audience tried to get into it, but the film was
shot in 'dark' mode (really low lighting through most of it); the two main characters
spoke in hoarse whispers throughout and I missed a lot of the dialog, but that was
actually a blessing, because the dialog was insipid. With no plot or character development,
the only thing to hope for was cool action sequences. Keep hoping. Iron man & Hellboy both kicked its butt.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

The Joker really made this movie worth seeing. VERY slow in the begining. Not a fan of the new Batman, although he makes a great Bruce Wayne. Lots of action once it starts going. Will see again (and again...)

Director Nolan chose to not make the Batman the traditional hero. I mean, where was his utility belt? Batman took on every fight scene using just brute force. This made him a mere mortal instead of beating crime with technology and intellect. Then he made the Joker out to be brilliant. Unfortunately, evil appeared smarter and better prepared than good. Nolan is a sic\k man and should not be allowed to direct anymore Batman movies.

I can't say it lived up to the hype, but the characters and visuals were great. Just the right amount of action, no foul language, and good imaging. At least in the Top 5 of all the various superhero flicks we've seen over the years.

If a graphic novel could be by Dickens, then the Dark Knight could be by Shakespeare. And the Joker would be our new Iago.
Don't get me wrong -- it's fun, fast, furious. But it's also thoughtful, dark, and sad.
About the loud part. I wore ear plugs the whole time and didn't miss even the quietest dialog. So did the teenager I was sitting next to. Forewarned is forearmed.

It's hard to know what the reaction would have been to this movie had Heath Leger not died so tragically, but siffice it to say that his performance is excellent, as is the movie in general. There's quite a bit of humor amidst the sinister story line, as well as lots of explosions and flying cars. I particularly like Christian Bale's portrayal of Bruce Wayne and all his false egotism--quite a contrast to the Batman character. Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman and great as well, as is the rest of the cast. The movie is long, but moves quickly.

While not the "best movie ever", it was an excellent addition to the Batman series. I liked how they moved the plot along, starting where Batman Begins ended and setting the stage for the next movie in the end. Excellent action sequences that helped move the movie forward and keep you from feeling the 2.5 hour running time. A very good film and definitely worth seeing.

Actions sequences are great and Heath Ledger's perfromance as the Joker is as good as everyone says. Some inconsistencies with the "real" batman story are annoying, but overall the movie is worth seeing more than once!

Don't get me wrong. I would definately recommend this movie and Heath Ledger was simply amazing, but the movie ran long and had too much storyline. Also, Batman's voice was a bit annoying, in the want him to clear his throat sense.

I took two 11 year olds and they thought it was the greatest movie ever! I though it may be too scarry for them, but they convinced me otherwise and want to see it again. One said it was better than his all time favorite Harry Potter movies - and that says a lot in my house.

All the action of the Bourne Ultimatum and more. Being a local Chicago resident and seeing the filming taking place last summer, this was overall a spectacular film! Great action, great acting, and a beautiful showcasing of one of America's greatest cities! Highly recommended!!!

disturbing, unsettling, captivating...simple adjectives to describe the most intense movie I have seen since "the Departed".
Bale is still convincing as Batman/Bruce Wayne..he makes Batman look easy to portray. Heath Ledger is Oscar worthy as the mind blowing psychopath Joker. Nolan actually gets Batman....after years of frustration Batman begins turned the page and The Dark Knight solidified Batman as not only an action adventure but a true Theatrical event worth being among the best of films.

This movie is a true sequel. It ups the action and ups the villains from 'Batman Begins.' Overall, it's much better movie than the first, with better pacing, better acting, and a better script.
Christian Bale is a better Batman this time around, really getting into the character. (It doesn't help that he has a better script, either.)
Aaron Eckhart plays a good Harvey Dent. His fate has been sealed, however, which is no surprise.
Heath Ledger plays a Joker that many will think is timeless. He definitely gets into the role and gives him these little nuances that really make a character. He is also unrelenting in his villainy. This is the Joker's movie, no doubt about it.
This is fully a PG-13 movie. There isn't really any harsh language and there's no sexual content, but the violence is constant, dark, and serious. Some may find a few scenes disturbing, so be wary about bringing little kids.

Started slow - a bit too long and the script was pretty ridiculous and sophomoric at times. But when the movie found it's groove - it's really amazing. Don't wait to see this "at home". It is truly the best in the movie theater.
