this movie was amazing - it was awesome. It was sit on the edge of your seat good through the whole movie. i loved it and I'm not a huge comic book fan (although I did like the previous Batmans - with Keaton of course). this was the best by far. The acting was amazing - all parties. Highly recommended.

Bale is steady, but Ledger steals the show with a great performance. Unfair to compare to Nicholson as the movies are totally different. Gyllenhaal is nothing to write home about, but Aaron Eckhart provides a good performance with a lot of character twists. Dark Knight could be about 15 minutes shorter, but overall you will be entertained.

Wow, very good stuff. The visuals were outstanding the story moved great. The Joker is a very sick individual without remorse. Heath Ledger was truly the star of this movie. Christian Bale did a very good job as well, the best Batman to date. Even though they have left room for a sequel I don't know if they can find someone with the debt of depravity that heath brought to the role.
Throughly enjoyed.

If you plan on seeing one movie this summer, you have a VERY hard choice to make. Normally, this would be easy, considering that summer block busters tend to be pretty bad. Unfortunately, the bar has officially been raised. Personally, I think that other producers (specifically the ones of a particular movie starring Downey Jr.) knew what a juggernaut "The Dark Knight" would be, so they tried to tweak their movies to compete. One came close. Only one.
Now ... the news isn't all happy-giddy-fun-fun-fun. I have been a BIG fan of Nolan's since the first time I saw Memento. For me, his story-telling is unmatched and his cinematic skills are quickly becoming legendary. For that reason, I was only the slightest disapointed by "The Dark Knight". It's not that anything was wrong, but that I have come to expect so much more from Nolan. In terms of story, I rank this third among his works after The Prestige and Batman: The Begining. It's a very close race with Memento with only a VERY slight edge because of a larger (and quite well utilized) budget.
The acting ... OH.... MY ... GAWD!!! Freeman, Cain, and Bale were as outstanding as we would expect. Gyllenhaal was damn good. So good infact, she did too good a job for Rachel Dawes. Then, there was the coup de gras. I do not say this because he was deceased, but Heath Ledger did for THIS Batman what Jack Nickelson did for Burton's. He wasn't just good. He didn't just bring The Joker to life. He redefined what it means to play the antagonist in a feature film and he WAS the Joker. I was saddened by his death, but now, after seeing what he was capable of, I am crushed that we don't get to see where he would have gone.
So I am sure you get it. Yeah, I liked it. 5 stars only because I can't give it 6 or 7. I would recomend it to a friend because the choice of "drag them kicking and screaming" wasn't offered. It wasn't my favorite film by Nolan, but it damn-for-sure made my top 3. This is, without a question, the best comic-book film to come out this summer. If you haven't seen it yet, then you really should. You owe it to yourself.

seriously this has been my favorite movie of the summer, possibly of the year. the acting was impeccable, the story line was brilliant... i walked into the theather expecting greatness, and i walked out experiencing perfection.
my favorite part: the magic trick. those of you who have seen the movie know what i'm talking about. ;)
my least favorite part: the lambo getting completely t-boned. =(
that should tell u something if my least favorite part was when a car was smashed!!
all in all, i TOTALLY recommend this movie. it's well worth the money, and i'm definately going to go see it again.

Heath brought this movie to the next level and sent chills down my spine. Was dark and terrifying, great acting, story was not as hard to follow as people are saying, and it was really packed with a lot of action. The joker was the star of the movie - every scene he was in was flawless, you couldn't take your eyes off him. I'd recommend seeing Batman Begins first.

I loved this movie for the great acting especially from Heath Ledger ( I wish he was still alive so I can see more of him) but what was really fantastic was a great connection from Batman Begins to this movie such as the drugs which brought upon Harvey (two face) to stop the drug lords and many other connections. Usually in series the first movie is always the best and then goes downhill but for this forming series the Dark Knight was better than Batman Begins and can't wait to see what happens in the next Batman movie.

The overall movie was good. Problems with the movie 1. about 30 minutes too long. 2. Christian Bales voice as Batman. What the hell was that? When I first heard that voice I wanted to walk out laughing. Didnt know if that was a joke or intentionally annoying.
Best part of the movie was the Joker. The character of the Joker was totally reinvented by Heath Ledger. His performance made me forget about the original Joker. If he doesnt win the Academy Award for this it will be a crime.

It was brilliantly casted, very well written, and met all of my expectations. I could go on and on all day about Ledger's performance, and that would never do him enough justice. He was completely captivating and makes you love and fear chaos at the same time. Hats off to Christopher Nolan! He really hit the nail on the head with an outstanding creation. I can't wait for the third installment!!!

I'm not going to say too much about this movie because in all honesty it speaks for itself. The action is intense and the pace is nonstop, the story is great, and the special effects are cool without being cheesy. Heath Ledger delivers one of the best performances I've seen in ages, and completely steals the film. This is a must see movie whether or not you usually enjoy Batman films.

I wasn't blown away by this movie like so many other people apparently were. It was good and probably the best of the series. I found the first hour to hour and half of the film to be pretty good as far as feeling like a true crime story (subtracting the whole caped hero deal). I think after that, it kinda lost its spunk and turned into another DC/Marvel hero movie.
Ledger did amazing and in my mind carried the film. He made you want to see him on screen and understand or watch how crazy he was as the joker. I wasn't super impressed with Bale's acting. In fact, I didn't think the film made you feel anything towards batman and he turned out to be a dull protagonist in general. I found myself more interested in the joker and batman was just filler because the movie needed a hero.
Maybe my biggest beef was with the editing. There were alot of quick cuts where batman would be in one situation and then cut 1, cut 2, cut 3, cut 4, he's in an entirely different place (all within the span less of than a minute). There were several times in the movie where all these cuts just simply threw me off and caused problems with the story flow. There were quite a few bad edits where one cut would show characters in a different position than others. Just these little things I can notice as I'm watching even though I wasn't actively looking for them.
Some of the dialog I thought was a trying to be deeper than the movie itself. Because the only character the movie made me interested in was the Joker, some of the "deeper" social commentary that batman and Dent used didn't really spark my interest. The movie didn't make me care about their characters either. Maybe I am being Joker-centric but Dent and Batman just felt like filler characters with no deeper meaning other than to be in the film.
Anyhow, its a pretty decent film, worth seeing. I wouldn't hold it up there among cinema's greatest though because it lost its true crime feel half way through. If anything, see the film because Ledger did an excellent job.

For all you haters out there, attempting to be different and give this movie less than it deserves, nobody cares. If you're looking for a helpful review in wanting to see this movie or not..here it is. This is a great movie, no matter who you are, or what you like. TDK has revitalized Batman and attempted to branch out of the normal comic book/superhero movie genre. Yes Heath Ledger lives up to the hype about his performance, Christian Bale is amazing as usual, and Aaron Eckhart portrays Harvey Dent/Two Face better than anyone before him. This movie lives up to the hype and beat out my original expectations. Its funny that the only negative reviews I've heard from people are simply not negative at all. Someone called it too "dark." Hello?! Its called the Dark Knight! This isn't your weak kiddy Tim Burton Batman films. This is Batman for the next generation. More extreme, more entertaining, and more hardcore. Another reviewer said there wasn't enough "character development." Thats the point of the movie "Batman Begins." Its true that they don't show how the Joker was created or really any background information period. But that is the point. Why not have a villian protrayed that isn't created at the beginning of the movie...usually in a pretty cheesy way. It just adds to the mystery. There's a scene where Gordon says they found nothing but lint and knives in his pockets, his clothes are custom, no ID no other alias. There it is! A villian that's a mystery and yet we all know the Joker.
Ok enough ranting...go see the movie!

This movie was not only the best movie I've seen all year, but unquestionably one of the best movies I have ever seen, period. The acting on the part of the entire cast was skilled and original. The plot was captivating, and the style of the film itself captured what I believe to be the true dark spirit of Batman. The movie is a transition from "Batman Begins" in that Batman is no longer a ninja fighting ninjas, but a street brawler who defends Gotham from thugs. The psychological violence, anxiety, and terror depicted through both Joker and Two-Face were remarkable (even if Two-Face reminded me a little bit of an alien from "Mars Attacks"). If you haven't seen this movie yet, then go...now...right now...

Christopher Nolan once again has done an outstanding job with the Batman series with the more adult oriented Dark Knight.
Heath Ledger as the Joker was brillant but short of an Oscar winning performance (possibly a nomination).
To honor Heath Ledger would be to start a foundation in his name that provides grants for funding for organizations that deal with mental health and addiction related issues.
A quick observation of the crowd suggested most where there for the morbid curosity of watching the last performance of Heath Ledger not because of following the complete movie series of the Batman.
