this movie tops all others that are and have come out this year. the performances were top notch, and it was just an all around awesome movie. bringing back the bad-guy Joker, i thought that this movie would remind me of the original Batman with Jack Nicholson. Heath Ledger makes his finale performance his best ever. characters are awesome! it's hard to describe in words just how great this movie is. I can't wait to see it again!!!!

Absolutely the best Batman movie to date! Christian Bale has become the bat...and the late Heath Ledger(RIP) was the BOMB as Joker!!! I took my 9 year old daughter with me and was somewhat hesitant after the reviews of the movie being so "dark"...but she was fine and there was really no bloodshed shown on screen, although it was VERY MUCH implied...it really lived up to the hype ...I am just so sorry that Mr. Ledger will not be around for many reasons but a couple are that he would receive so much praise for the way he played the maniacial joker and because he will not be able to reprise that role in the future installments.... This movie is Worth the wait!!!

Not only an amazing comic book movie but a spectacular film in general. All the acting was perfect and ledger portrayed the joker in an awesome / twisted way. Everyone in the theater was blown away. I recommend the movie for everyone, especially in imax

I'd heard great things about Heath Ledger...all true!!! Without him, this would be a a very good action movie political thriller. With him, there is truly a sense of darkness, chaos, anarchy...FEAR. His performance is Oscar worthy...there's a sense of Clockwork Orange going on. Christian Bale is once again great as the conflicted hero, as are Aaron Eckart, Gary Oldman and the rest of the very strong cast. Can't wait to see this in IMAX!!!

I am not a big fan of superhero films or the particular genre, as I often feel that they are too far-fetched or too fantastical. But I have to say that this is probably one of the best, if not the best, film I have ever seen. The late Heath Ledger's performance is one that will ensure his legacy for decades to come. While viewing the film, he is completely engulfed in the character. He is not for one minute Heath Ledger; he is all Joker. His complete and whole dedication to the development of his character, through such measures as the Joker journal, are reflected in his performance. There is not one minute where you ponder the sadness of Ledger's passing. Ledger is all psychopath, even down to his stance and mannerisms. The rest of the film is stitched together flawlessly, with performances that serve to strengthen Ledger's greatest role to date. This film, while about a super hero, serves a much larger purpose as an emulation of the boundaries of good and evil and just how skewed our perceptions of those concepts can become. A beautiful lesson learned; a lesson that will not merely haunt you, but will change how you perceive the world and the people in it.
Side note - While this is ALL Heath Ledger's movie, Cillian Murphy's demanded the attention of his one brief scene. This is truly representory of director Chris Nolan's commitment to casting the perfect actor's for the roles. But still. Ledger is the outstanding star in this film of very strong performances.

he Dark Knight barely slows down to take a breath. I'm not saying the movie is non-stop action (just the opposite, as a matter of fact, which is fine by me because too much action generally indicates a lack of better ideas), but that Nolan has a very structured story on his hands and he just keeps hammering us with new plot divergences, practically daring us to keep up with his tale. Every time we manage to slow down and chill out with all these colorful characters, another crisis or discovery is unleashed and we're tossed down another dark alley.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Excellent acting job by the late Heath Ledger. He showed you that the evil psychopath, Joker, had no conscience whatsoever. Wow! Special effects were great too.

Most long movies (even good ones) have that slow boring part - not this one! Interesting/action packed the whole time. Good plot, great acting, fantastic cast...obviously. It exceeded my expectations even though everyone was already raving about it (sometimes the hype can cause a let down, but not this time)! Great seeing Heath's role (even though it's a bit freaky) he really did immerse himself into the character.

That was his most amazing performance ever and after seeing it a fan would be brought to tears knowing that never again will we see his talent on the big screen. He was in all the Joker and even in death he was the Joker. I love this movie but I personally that they can not top this and that Batman should end here or at least put the Joker on the shelf as this was the best Joker I've ever seen. Heath Ledger went out with not only a bow and a bang but with the whole symphony playing his tune. Rip Heath Ledger and round of applause for the whole movie. Definitly the best hit of the decade.

I'm not a comic book character follower (love Batman though) yet without a doubt this Batman movie has been the best one made yet. Christian Bale fits and forms the character even more so this time with fantastic actors at his side. As Heath Ledger's Joker says in the movie, they complete one another it is no joke. The two actors played off each other with ease, add "Two Face"/Harvey Dent to the mix and still the three then continue the chemistry. Sad that there couldn't be another film made with all the same actors again.

I saw it Friday morning. It is hard to put into words without sounding like an over-the-top idiot bat-movie geek. The last time I had a movie experience like this was... "Batman Begins" in 2005. This director, Chris Nolan, has come upon a vision and sense that has made "Batman Begins" and now "The Dark Night", way, way, way , way, way, way more than just another comic book incarnation for the big screen. These films are nothing if not epic in scope. Like listening to a Wagner symphony. You are enthralled from the very beginning but you keep thinking it is going to eventually turn into a regular movie. But it never does. It lifts you higher with wonder - and takes you lower into dread and modulates back a again,.. each time a little more higher, a little more lower - into madness - until you realize this isn't a movie - it is a masterpiece of film-making of the First Order. I left the theater numb and breathless - not unlike the feeling of being "spent" in the sexual sense. I could not shake it all day - and still cannot shake it now. Tomorrow I head over to the IMAX to see it for the first time, again, in a new format. It is hard to imagine it could possibly be any better. I predict this movie will be on most every reviewer's Top-Ten List for 2008. Further, Heath Ledgers performance? I cannot say he would win an Oscar for this - depends upon the Academy's mood and who else is nominated - but he will most assuredly be nominated. His turn as the Joker - playing him as a sociopath two or three leaps beyond Hannibal Lector - will be remembered for years to come. He put this movie over the top. He is the one who lifted it beyond what it would have been in anyone else's hands. I don't think I have ever seen a better performance from anyone, in any role, anywhere, in any motion picture, ever, in the history of going to see films. Yes. It is THAT good. I will see this film many times. And - as with "Batman Begins" before it - it will only get better and more rapturous with each viewing. This movie is the reason why people go to see movies. Nothing short of magnificent, extraordinary... there are no suitable superlatives. It is the yard-stick against which all future films of this type will be measured... until Chris Nolan's third installment.

Batman Begins was good. The Dark Knight was even better. The storyline flowed nicely, with lots of action and suspense. There were no wasted moments. Most of all, Heath Ledger was excellent! He was mesmerizing every time he was on screen. He left you wanting more. My wife and I want to see it again!

this movie was amazing, Christian Bale and Heath Ledger really made Batman and the Joker come to life and I was pleasantly surprised to see Harvey Dent become Two Face.
Excellent movie that kept me wondering what else was going to happen and I have every plan to see it again and pick it up on DVD when it comes out! Everyone should go see this!!

Chris Nolan does not disappoint. He once again successfully brings a more mature approach to the Batman series. At times, you lose track that you are watching a comic book movie, and start to think you are watching a true psychological thriller. The movie lived up to the hype, and was suspense-filled the entire way through. This is one of the best movie experiences I have ever had. When the movie began, everybody in the audience stayed completely silent. I saw the movie at Aventura Mall, which is often filled with hecklers, but even they were too drawn into the picture to try to get cheap laughs.

I can't stress enough for all of you to go see The Dark Knight! It's a complex and rich film that has something for everyone. All the characters are so multidimesional and Heath Ledger's performance is astonishing. His take on the Joker is terrifying and an ultimate joy to watch. Go see this movie!

The new joker character was a twisted change from Jack Nicholson and definitely added social psychological undertones through out. Heath Ledger was impressive and the plot was quite entertaining. No complaints, in fact, I highly recommend it.

Man I saw batman last night, and it was amazing! It not only had a very good story that followed the old comics, but it also had excellent acting. Christian Bale, and Heath Ledger make the perfect hero-villan combo! Too bad we will not see these two act together anymore, because they did an outstanding job!!!!!!

best superhero flick i've seen. film was intense w/out being gory. i agree w/ the PG13 rating, but would NOT take children under 13 yrs. Ledger has to be considered among best villains of all time...no wonder he went mad making this film.
