I enjoyed the movie, and "dark" is definitely an appropriate word to use when describing this film. The film was very violent, much more than I expected. The acting was wonderful, Christian Bale and Heath Ledger were amazing! I would recommend this film to my friends but warn them about the violence.

I didn't think The Dark Knight could live up to it's hype, as most movies that are talked up as much as this one don't tend to impress. This one, however, went beyond expectations. Both Christian Bale and Heath Ledger were forces to be reckoned with. Ledger's intense, disturbing farewell performance as the Joker will be remembered for years, possibly as the best Joker in history. Go see this movie!

Fabulous action sequences. All actors excelled in their roles and Heath Ledger was frighteningly magnificent. A bit too many plot twists to keep up with, but who cared. A must see movie.

This movie has been hyped up to be the blockbuster of the summer, and it does NOT disappoint! This was an action packed movie with excellent acting on everybody's part. Ledger's performance is oscar-worthy in my opinion. Very entertaining portrayal of basic human instinct and the effect we all have on others, even if we can't acknowledge it right away. Will definitely buy this movie when it is out on DVD, and plan to see it again at an IMAX theater.

Let's put it this way: The Dark Knight is one of the three greatest super hero movies ever. (Spidey 2 & Iron Man being the others).
Pros: Heath Ledger is transcendent, the movie looks fantastic, and it gives you a lot to think about.
Cons: A tad long.
Note: This movie is intense. Not gory, but intense. Take the PG-13 seriously.

I saw this film 3 times in 2 days just to make sure that my feelings for the film weren't just based on my excitement that it finally came out. The cast was so well chosen and so well directed that I have nothing negative to say. This film has firmly taken its spot as my #1 favorite

Christian Bale is by far the best Batman to date and coupled with the performance by Heath Ledger this movie is hard to beat. Although way too violent for my 8 year old son it was as good as it gets for me. Ledger sets the bar very high for all future comic book villains to aspire to.

Initially, I was not thrilled at the thought of seeing this movie, for typically I am not an action genre fan due to there generally corny story lines. HOWEVER, I was absolutely blown away by every aspect of the movie. I'm already trying to make plans to see it again.

This film was outstanding. Ledger's last performance is really a reminder of how far he'd come and what we lost. His Joker gives a good look at a psychotic mind whose only goals are to implement chaos and drive everyone to become killers. The ending left me shaking as I left the theater.

Although I had never really been a Batman fan before, this movie was excellent. The fact that it was much darker than the previous movies made it that much better. Heath Ledger portrayed a very disturbing Joker. Excellent.

The acting was excellent, the action was exceptional. Bruce Wayne was a badass and Christian Bale compliments the role in so many ways. Heath Ledger as we all know, from the Oscar buzz going around, was fantastic. The Joker was always just a character, but he made the character real, and very twisted. Loved the addition of Maggie Gyllenhal.
Overall this is one of the best movies I've seen in awhile.

Even if you're not a fan of the 'superhero' genre, I think you'll enjoy this. The performances by Ledger, Bale and Eckhard are some of the best I've seen in an action film.
Be forewarned though, it's about a half hour too long. If it was shorter - I definitely would've given it 5 stars.

The explanation (end) was a great way to express the story with a romantic altruism in a sense. The Joker character was extremely well portrayed including distinctive signs (frequent licking of the lips) that may be associated with the psychological condition suggested, his choice of henchmen ties well with this idea and borderline genius/psychotic personality. Heath Ledger is possibly the best Joker I have seen. I didn't care for the leading lady--her lines did not seem to fit well in many instances and her emotional respones also seemed to be mismatched in various scenes. Was it her acting or the writing? Maybe a bit of both. Morgan F. is excellent in his role. Michael Caine also superb. Both add their natural wit to their characters. Christian Bale is not necessarily a great Batman but the writers did a fantastic job in this story version so he fit well with the role--could someone else have played it better?--Probably, but he didn't take anything away, either. Unlike other Batman movies, the portrayal of this story doesn't seem to make Batman the central figure. Gary Oldman's supporting role is very well played and balances "The Batman" in terms of a main character. Definitely one of the best Batman movies.
