The characters and actors for the roles were just stunning coupled with a brilliant director. Although eerie at times the films action and plot are terrific!

I saw it yesterday. I've had a chance to absorb and think about it. I really enjoyed it. It deserves the raves its getting. The acting was very good... very good for a "comic book movie". The producers and crew took it seriously. The movie went to the original roots and theme of the story. I think finally after this movie the camp associated with Batman is finally dispelled. This is in the light of Batman Begins as well. The two movies have a great continuity between them.
OK... Ledger as the Joker. Nobody in their right mind can dispute how well he pulled it off. I don't care if he's dead or not. If he were alive today I would still have the same opinion. I was never a Ledger groupie and I hated the way he wasted his life so stupidly. The performance he gave was incredible. He wasn't trying to be another Nicholson or Romero. He was his own man with his own idiosyncrasies.
Bale as Batman, he's blown all others out of the water. That is probably a result of the ultimate change in tone of the movies compared to the prior movies. Still Bale, performs, it very well. The Batman "voice" is just like I imagine him talking in the comics.
Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, darn it, if I am not impressed. Again, its probably what they did with the character. He gives Gordon a very professional look while remaining an average guy. I just wish those scenes with Gordon's kids involved Barbara more and not the brother. If they wanted to bring Batgirl into the series you could have seen the development of young girl idolizing Batman and knowing the truth about him.
Two-Face was also portrayed very well. I can't remember the actors name. Personally I think he's still around. Not a spoiler, its just iffy. I don't want to give spoilers here, but my guess is that he is actually locked away in Arkham now. He looks too good as a character not to use again.
The story itself was good, lots of mayhem, bombs, crime drama stuff. I don't think that there is anything they could have done plotwise which would be called original after say, what 70+ years of Batman. The story is character driven, the plot is secondary. You get to see the characters develop which does point to my feelings on Two-Face and Barbara Gordon. He can't be and she should have been.
Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman lend solid veteran support.
Getting back to the Joker, the praise is completely deserved. Just wait for him to make the pencil disappear.
GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!

What a great movie! I recommend it to anyone who likes a good crime drama. (Interest in superheroes is not a requirement - but it helps). Plus Bruce Wayne is totally hot in his haute couture wardrobe.

The performances, especially by Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart, are what make this a great, "dark" Batman movie. The story is very good but not tight enough to hold the film together and most importantly, hold the audiances attention. Maybe the editing should have been tighter. Maybe they tried to jam toomuch story into one movie. It doesn't matter because Ledgers Joker is holds everyone on the edge of their seats. Ledger drives this film which makes his pasing even more dishearting. I was always impressed by his performances but never thought he was a "great" actor until now. Bale onthe other hand is someone I feel has turned in great performances in the past but not this time. In fact we would be talking about this batman being too Clooney like if it wasn't for Ledger and Eckhart. I was not impressed at all with Maggie G. She should stick to Indy films.

I wasn't sure what to expect after all the hype...the movie surpassed all my expectatations. An amazing experience that leaves you on the edge of your seat all the way through. Heath Ledger put all he had into creating a truly twisted pyschopathic villian that you have to see to believe.

**I love The Dark Night comic books. Year One. DK1 and DK2. This movie goes above and beyond my expectations.
**Christian Bale makes, once again, a brooding and conflicted Batman. I was VERY skeptical about him in the first Dark Night but he won me over. He is more here. I could have used a more toned down Batman voice ... it's a bit grating... but overall he was fabulous.
**I was not ready to love Heath Ledger's Joker. I was open to this interpretation but wanted to wait and see. I have NEVER seen a creepier villain. Hannibal Lecter comes the closest. This Joker is even creepier. And he's funny (in a VERY creepy sort of way). You laugh but hope no one sees you laughing because it is just wrong! I'm sad to not be able to see more of this Joker in the future. The performance was nothing short of brilliant.
**I'm not an Aaron Eckhart fan. Not that I don't like him but he's not a name that comes to mind when I think of great acting. I now revise that. He is PERFECT as Harvey Dent. He made me believe. I believe in Harvey Dent. I loved watching him up on the screen and his character is much more important than I thought it would be.
**Gary Oldman made me cheer in this movie as Gordon. He made me cry too. He is one of the great actors and his performance here is wonderful.
**I'm so HAPPY to see Maggie Gyllenhaal. She is a MUCH, MUCH better choice as Rachel Dawes. I did NOT miss Katie Holmes. Maggie made herself known and has a great screen presence. Something Katie Holmes does NOT have.
**Overall this was a fantastic movie. I had to keep reminding myself to breath. It is fast paced and tense. I could not believe the many twists and turns this movie took. This will always be one of my most favorites of movies. I have to see it again because I know I must of missed something. It moved so fast. You must see this movie for the Joker and Harvey Dent. Two of the best performances. The special effects were better and bolder than any I've seen in a while. I LOVED THIS.

This was the greatest movie I have seen in a very long time, if not ever. The joker part wass played to perfection and all the other parts were acted amazingly as well. The plot was much better than the old Batman movies. It was an alound amazing movie. I am tempted to go see it again in the theater. A+++++++++.

Christian Bale continues to break new ground as the new Batman. But he was equalled by Heath Ledger in every respect for his version of the Joker. Jack Nicholson would be proud to have given Heath's portrayal. All I can say is WOW what a movie.

From the very first scene in this movie there was non-stop action!! There were 2 back to back scenes that just were filled with mind blowing, pulse pounding stuff!! The cast was great (The Joker especially, of course). The Joker truly showed what it is to be insane when he burned all the millions that was stolen; you knew he wasn't doing all this carnage for money. The visuals were excellent; it was a bit brighter movie than the first with the Joker being in it, which I was glad to see. It was everything you wanted in a movie....AND MUCH MORE!!!!

Good movie, though, I felt Mr. Nolan made some poor choices on where to place music, as earlier in the movie it tends to drown out important dialogue when Gordon and others are speaking. I still feel the action scenes weren't improved much from the last film, though, it's nice to see that the director knows his strengths and concentrated his efforts on story to give us a good detective yarn as a result. A great preformance by Heath Ledger goes without saying, but lets not forget Oldmans understated 'Gordon'. I think he tends to go unnoticed particularily because the role blends in to the story so well.

I thought this was an extremely well done movie. The plot was good with some modern new twists on the classic story line. The acting was superb, although I could have done without the second half of the Harvey Dent role. It seemed mediocre compared to the other roles. The effects are well done and believable. Immediately after the movie was over, I knew I had to see it again to catch some of the details that I missed. It's that good.

This was another great Batman movie that started out right away with action and maintained that level f action all the way to the very end. Had some suprising moments in the plot that was very clever. I would recommend this movie to all Batman or superhero fans including parents of young kids such as myself. I was not bored even though this is a very long movie at 150 minutes. Don't drink to much soda so you don't have to leave your seat for the bathroom and miss something..

this is the best movie of the summer, the much darker take on the Batman enthralls you and Heath Ledger will win a posthumous Oscar for his performance as the Joker. the special effects make you hold your breath. I can't wait for the next chapter in the series.

pretty good movie,a bit confusing at times, but Heath Ledger put on the performance of his life. he was funny but also had a sick edge and was nasty like the joker should be. Christian bale could have been a little better as batman, though
