This batman movie was like 3 in one! It was so complex and the characters were thick and intriguing. Heath was great AND so were the other actors. everyone in the movie did a great job! it felt just a little long bc about 2 or 3 scenes near the end seemed like they could be the real ending but then the plot kept going. I was glad it did keep going bc it was like a book you don't want to end.

I'm not a very hard person to please as far as movies are concerned, but this movie absolutely blew me away! Saw it twice this weekend because it was that good! Heath Ledger, I believe, truly makes this movie. Even if you aren't a Batman fan, or even really get the Batman story, you will be depriving yourself if you don't go and see it now!

I was on the edge of my seat the entire movie. Not many movies (with that much hype) can make me say afterwards "this movie was worth all the hype"...but it definitely was. Ledger, Bale, Oldman, Caine, and others did incredible and everytime I thought I had a handle on things, the plot took a completely different turn. Chicago was well represented as well! A+

THe darkest batman ever. I think it is a little too dark for children to see. Nevertheless a very well done movie... you can use the word "film" in association with a DC comic based movie this would be the one. Fans will like it. I liked it but it also "creeped" me out enough that I won't watch it again. Heath Ledger should win an oscar for his performance.

This could be the best movie I've ever seen. It is not your normal surperhero movie, more like a crime drama. It is amazing. The entire cast does a phenomenal job including Christian Bale, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman. Two standouts in the cast are Aaron Eckhart (who steals the third act) and the absolutely amazing Heath Ledger whose Joker is one of the best performances I have ever seen on film. If you want to keep in the know this summer on hot films you cannot afford to miss this phenomenal masterpiece!

I loved everything about this movie. All of the performances were amazing, especially Heath Ledger's joker....he did such a great job and his acting lived up to all the hype. It was also very smart, it was all about human nature and the good and bad that is within each person.

The Joker was astounding. Although I was left wondering what happened to the African-American guys on the boat.....

From the opening scene to the credits, this was a spectacular cinematic adventure. The acting was flawless, the story line was tight as a drum, and the special effects...I am still trying to gather enough superlatives to do them justice! This was a movie for pretty much every audience, though I wouldnt reccommend for children, due to the violence. This ought to be an example for every filmmaker, actor and special efx team in the land on what a movie should be!

It's a shame that the Academy is given over to the formulaic and often terribly shallow world of "drama" and "romantic comedy". It's a shame that, in spite of reviews just like this one, from critics taken much more seriously than myself, The Dark Knight will be overlooked by the Academy.
I say this without shame and without the fervor of your typical comic book fanboy: The Dark Knight deserves an Oscar. Heath Ledger deserves an Oscar (and not just because he has passed; I am not prone to hero worship, certainly not for an actor who got his start with A Knight's Tale and 10 Things I Hate About You). Christopher Nolan deserves an Oscar.
This truly was one of the best movies of the year. The plot was full and complete, told with such gripping tension that my wife and I found ourselves biting nails and worrying for the fates of Dent, Wayne and Dawes. Speaking of Dawes, Gyllenhall was a welcome change, even though her character was less a full person and more a plot device.
But then, that was almost the point of the movie---or the point that The Joker spent two and a half hours trying to get across---that everyone was a device, everyone was a pawn, either to their own motives, the motives of those who had power or to the twist of fate. The Joker reprimands Wayne for questioning why Batman should die, "I don't want to kill you... you... complete me."
And The Joker. My, my, my. I'm a realist, folks. I expected Ledger's performance to be hyped, mostly because I passed on Brokeback Mountain in deference to the terrible movies he did before. But this was... The Joker was everything he needed to be. Sickeningly insane. You spent the entire movie repulsed and compelled to watch him, like a train wreck you can't take your eyes off of. The only catharsis comes in the form of Dent's physical destruction, where we see the grotesqueness of The Joker's mind given form and substance. Eckhart said, in interviews leading up to the film that "when you see Two Face, you're supposed to be sick to the stomach." And we were not disappointed.
I could go on forever. This movie was one of the greats and its truly sad that the Academy will pan it because they see it as a comic book movie and not what it is: a deeply compelling, rich glimpse into the human psyche. Gotham isn't a city that exists, it is the city of the mind, where two terrible forces do battle for our souls.

This movie has redeemed my faith in the comic book movie genre. It shows that a comic book move can be more than just something to distract you for an hour and a half. This is a great story held together by superb acting (especially on Heath Ledger's part), with serious undertones that might actually leave you with a feeling that you actually watched something with a purpose.

Thank God for Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale. They gave birth to the real Batman with Batman Begins and then took him to a whole new level with "The Dark Knight". It's dark and intense, and the Joker is creepy as hell. The perfect Batman movie.
It is clear, however, that the Joker was meant to return for at least one more movie, which would have been awesome if it was possible. Instead, we will just have to wait for whatever greatness Nolan can come up with next - but it might be impossible to top this one.

I am not a HUGE Batman fan but this movie converted me in a big way. I am however a huge Heath Ledger fan, and he did not dissapoint as the joker. I had a hard time feeling bad for the joker in this movie because Ledger brought a part of him out before that has never been seen. I loved the special effects, the 'darkenss' of the film, and overrall Ledger's performance. This is top 3 on my list of favorite Ledger performances for sure. Go see the Dark Knight if you havent already-it will not dissapoint!!
