I saw this movie on Friday at midnight, I have NEVER gone to see a movie at midnight. I had built up the movie so much in my mind (because scenes of it were filmed in my office) that I was afraid that it would not live up to the hype. This movie was EVERYTHING a summer blockbuster and a superhero movie should be. There was conflict and rooting for the good guy and even a little disappointment. Heath Ledger was incredible and I wished he would have lived long enough to see how successful this movie will be. Christian Bale is Batman.

It's a strong swig of Gotham, and it tastes a little like burning. It's excellently made, if a little too long, and the well-cast ensemble holds their own against to the unsurvivable onslaught of rolled cars and general explosions. Heath is all you want him to be and more, even hot in a nurse's uniform, and Christian Bale becomes almost a supporting cast member. (But don't take my word for it, ask Alexandra DuPont.) The violence is less unsettling than the morality tale woven into the plot, and thank God they have strong enough actors to deliver some cheesy "You're the hero - no, you're the hero" lines. My main complaint, really, is that the adorable Maggie Gyllenhaal has to carry pretty much all the estrogen herself, and even then she is not without substantial cajones. Hopefully next time they'll give us some equally strong females.

Well, i was a little skeptical before due to the Heath Ledger thing. But, i watched it and it was probably the best movie i have seen since the Lord of the Rings series. I was amazed on how well they built the story and tied in the world of Batman and the conflict of good against evil. I am watching it again this weekend and am excited more than the first time i saw it. It was outstanding and does not disappoint, it is Dark and understandbly the summers best and Chris Nolen definetly delivers.

Maggie G. - not believable as "striking, beautiful"..etc... Katie Holmes was stupid not to come back. Christian Bale gives a smart performance.

Pretty good movie, although I'm not a fan of Christian Bale's Batman. Heath Ledger definitely made this movie. If it hadn't been for him, this movie would have just been OK.

If you are looking for action, this is the movie for you. I've never been a huge fan of superhero, action movies. (I'd rather see a chick flick) but I have to say I really loved this move. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD. So many things happen in the movie that I remember thinking it must be over and when I looked at the time it had only been 1hr. You never drift away during this movie nor loose interest. And Heath Ledger is amazing as the Joker. It's such a tragedy that he wont be here to except any awards the film may win.

Solid follow up to Batman: The Begining, Christian Bale gives another excellent performance in the Batman role. Heath Ledger as Joker steals the show. His performace was fantastic and deserves an Oascar nomination. The nuances of his performace perfectly portrayed what to me is the essence of the Joker character.
As far as Batman movies go, the plot and storyline were above par and the special effects were excellent. I would highly recommend this movie.

The Dark Knight was better than what I had expected. All the actors performances were exceptional. The action sequences were amazing. Heath Ledger , God rest his soul, deserves some sort of recognition for his portrayal of the Joker. He is without a doubt THE Joker. My only gripe is that I wish they had used Two-face a little more. But other than that, Flawless.

The movie dragged, I fell asleep. Batman's voice kept getting deeper and deeper, I am not sure why he needed to disguise his voice it was really annoying. The adding of two face was really cheesy. It also didn't help that some kid kept pushing my seat and another one a few rows up had to play with a cheap lazer pointer. Oh the whole cell phone thing in the movie was cheesy as well. I would also have thought the art department or prop people would have given the joker better knives as well.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I must say, I sat through this movie thinking to myself...."what a shame we will never see Heath Ledger like his again!" He was the perfect joker. This movie was made so much more believable than any other Batman movie I've seen and believe me, I watched Adam West in Batman every single day as a child!
The entire cast was beautifully played and I am just so sorry that the world has lost such a talent in Heath. I think he could have been the most talented character actor of our time.

This is one of the best movies, if not the best movie I have ever seen. Christopher Nolan showed that the unimaginable Batmans of the old, can be brought to real life. Christian Bale showed once again that he is the best Batman they could have had. The late Heath Ledger plays the creepiest Vilian of all in the Joker, sorry Jack. The multiple twists that are in this movie will keep you on your seat until the movies credits roll. Question to ask yourself, 'Who will be the next Villian?'

The Dark Knight is a psychological thriller whose tone matches that of the graphic novels which attempted to take both the art and the story of Batman to a more adult level. Trust me, after seeing this you will want to rent a comedy to lift your spirits. That should be taken as a very high compliment, however. It means that The Dark Knight lives up to its name.
The overall quality of the acting is sky high in comparison to many Batman attempts of the past, although I am not a big fan of Aaron Eckhart in particular. As you will know by now, Heath Ledger's performance steals the show. The Joker is no longer a caricature, but a very real, and very threatening psychopath. Though Jack Nicholson's performance in the 1989 Batman significantly raised the bar for portrayal of a villain in a comic-themed film, Ledger's portrayal is a landmark step toward legitimizing the genre for the general public. Purists will dislike that the Joker's origin is never really explained in this movie, but in the age of terrorism Ledger's Joker seems as if he may have stepped straight out of the New York mayor's worst nightmares. He is very believable and very frightening.
As for Christian Bale's performance, it is once again a cut above his predecessors. I have been impressed with Bale's acting since he first came to my attention and I don' t think the public has quite yet acknowledged his prodigious talent. He may not get the recognition he so richly deserves from this genre of films, especially with Ledger overshadowing him in this instance, but like Gary Oldman he will eventually be seen as one of the finest actors of his generation. True fans of the genre should be grateful that he accepted this role.
In a few ways The Dark Knight still misses the mark. The action can still be a bit over the top in places, and there are still some stunts that stretch your suspension of disbelief so far that you are reminded that Batman is just a comic book hero. But overall its focus on character, plot and mood makes it far and away the best Batman to date. You are probably going to want to see this more than once.

I don't think there is anything that can be said that hasn't already been said about this movie. Extremely well made, the plot and action were well proportioned, I was never bored or wanting more, and it certainly did not seem like 2.5 hours! Bale is the ultimate Batman, and Ledger will be unforgettable in this last roll. One does have to wonder, however, had he not met an unfortunate death before the movie aired, would it still have been the blockbuster on opening day as it has been? Regardless, the movie is a definate must see!

Christopher Nolan's second Batman picture is darker, denser, and far more serious than the first one. It is an amazing follow up to Batman Begins. In some ways the darkness makes the picture less fun than the first, but this is appropriate since we are past the thrilling rise of Batman and are into the dirty business of cleaning Gotham. The sense of sacrifice and duty becomes much clearer and the transient notion of Batman acting as a costumed adventurer falls away. Oddly, the picture is really about everyone but the Batman, but this does nothing to detract from its effectiveness. Much has been said about Ledger's performance-and they are right, he does not disappoint. Of course you should see this picture.

It's difficult to cut throught the hyperbole surrounding "The Dark Knight." It is not the PERFECT movie.
However, it is a great movie. It takes what you would expect going into a comic book movie and turns it on its head. The late Heath Ledger's Joker is conceived, written and played brilliantly. He's like no other comic movie villain. He won't threaten a victim and then wait long enough for the hero to swoop in and save the day.
In fact, he goes so far you don't know whether to laugh or feel disgusted by him. And, he plays so well into the movie's overall plot. Are we all really one good push away from becoming the animal the Joker is and says we are, too?
The film, thanks to the wild card that is the Joker, is filled with tension and you can feel the excitement and fear as if it were your own world burning.
The entire cast is strong. Aaron Eckhart puts in a good turn as Harvey Dent/Two-Face, the tragic white knight of Gotham. He has the most character development in the movie, and Eckhart plays his fall from grace with great pathos. Also, the action here is a step up from its predecessor, 2005's "Batman Begins."
It's almost so good you don't want to see another Batman movie. How can they top this?
