Why am I being serious? The greatest movie I have seen in a long time. This is an excellent modernized take on Batman, and filled with much more action...more than Adam West can ever account for.
Good movies need plenty of action, suspense, and violence. Great movie need a solid storyline, funny and intelligent characters, and great actors. Excellent movies need all of this, and high numbers at the Box Office. Which one is "The Dark Knight"? Extraordinary. Everyone who has seen it, from my observations, loved the movie, as did I. I cannot wait for this gem to come out on DVD and become a collector's item for generations to come.
Plus, you know, there were some pretty unexpected plot twists thrown in there, and hints to a third movie. But who am I kidding? See for yourself! =)

I am a huge fan of all the Batman movies but this one by far was my favorite. To me this director really captured how I have always pictured the movies should be. My father-in-law went with us and he said this movie made him a Batman fan!!!

Get ready for a really twisted and wild ride! I really liked this movie. I thought they did a great job casting Heath Ledger as the Joker. Christian Bale did a wonderful job as Batman but I could have done without the low, raspy voice that he uses when he is his alter-ego.
I did find a few parts confusing and probably need to see it again in order to iron the whole thing out.

The whole crew from technicians through actors and directors really got it right. Heath Ledger's depiction and portrayl of the Joker is a magnificent study in the darkness and total absence of responsibility when embarking on a path to total anarchy. It gives a insightful view of the ramifications such behavior can cause.
Christian Bale's reprise as Batman was more than equal to his initial portrayal. I was totally convinced in his character and his subtle shifts in the emotional conflicts that the Batman was presented with.

This is an amazing film for any person over the age of 13. On a basic level it has incredible graphics and great action. Although too violent for younger than 13 - it is a great opportunity to talk to our kids about what a hero is and the sacrifices that must be made to be one.

Too long. The movie should not be over two hours long. You are stiff when you get up to leave. The effects, batmobile, etc. were outstanding. The whole movie should not have centered completely around the joker. What happended to the penguin and others of Gotham City lore. More subplots whould make a better difference to reflect the happenings of a big city. The rescue scenes were excellent. A dark knight is not generally a good role model.

The second installment of Chris Nolan's Batman series is an adventure through the psychological torture of Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) looking for his next hero to save Gotham. Enter Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) the new District Attorney ready to challenge the crime element not only in the courtroom but with the zeal and toughness that even Batman can admire. Dent represents what Bruce Wayne can never be. A Human hero. One that Wayne would like to follow.
And just as Wayne starts to see the light at the end of the tunnel for the Dark Knight along comes The Joker (Heath Ledger) who represents the complete parallel to Batman. Ledger played his role to perfection capturing the psychotic element of all that The Joker represents and Batman fears. A new type of villain in Gotham. One that cannot be bought off by the crime lords. One that just wants to create mayhem for the sheer art of it.
Wayne goes through a mental turmoil that rides just beneath of the surface of the character only to find out that just when he finds hope it is a blanket of despair.
Nolan takes Batman down the darkest of paths in the Dark Knight.

It sounds like it would be a great movie... But it just went on... and on.... and on.... It took everything i had, not to walk out of the movie. The visual effects were great, but the story was lame and confusing. It just seemed like a big ol' ego trip for stuido execs....It felt like they all wanted to put in thier twist on the plot to make it more interesting. Wait for the DVD if you have to.

Stellar performances and excellent story make this a must see movie in theaters. I was skeptical to jump on the Heath Ledger bandwagon, but I'm on board. I have to wonder what there is in Batman to dislike. The premise of a man of questionable psychology parading around as a hero should be intrinsically interesting to everyone, if for no other reason than to witness his psychosis. However, more importantly than that premise, Dark Knight rises above all previous comic book-to-movie transformations to become a piece of high art which - separate from its source material - is wholly interesting. Of course Christian Bale reprises his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne, and again he brings new layers of the character to the table. Bruce is portrayed ever further as an incorrigible playboy, and Batman an even more stoic, hardened villain-sacker. It becomes plainly clear throughout the movie that Batman is taking over Bruce Wayne’s life and becoming the truer persona of the two. Of course I must mention the late Heath Ledger, who’s performance is not only the best of his entire young career but also, I feel, one of the best dramatic performance in recent times. His ability to reach deep and capture the psychotic nature of the Joker is uncanny and, on more than one occasion, frightening. Speaking of which, despite the PG-13 rating on this movie, I seriously wonder why The Dark Knight wasn’t rated R. While perhaps there is less violence than many R-rated movies, you would be hard-pressed to find more gruesome violence in anything other than a horror movie.
In short, this movie is a masterpiece. On all accounts it delivers and exceeds expectations. The story telling is just as great film should be: predictable, but not getting to your predicted conclusion how you expected. Even the comic-bookish one-liners up the ante, proving that the film can not only deliver high drama but also do so while being true to the source material in a genuine way. And Heath Ledger’s performance is transcendent. I have no other word for it. There will never be a Joker who can compare to him, and I foresee many posthumous awards being given to him for this role. An absolute must-see for anyone interested in great film, Batman, or Heath Ledger; you will not be disappointed (but you might think about leaving the kids home).
