I absolutely loved this movie! The visual effects were nothing like I've ever seen before, they were just stunning. Movie was long, but totally worth it and there were no unnecessary parts and it had a great plot.

I took my son to this 3D IMAX showing and we both loved it. I loved it for the Native American parallel and spiritual sense. I was worried about sensory overload but managed fine. I can't wait for it to come out on video so I can take breaks as necessary the next time I see it. It was worth the money I spent and totally understand why others have seen it multiple times.

If you don't like fantasy genre or animation, stay home and don't whine about not liking this film. But if you do, you will LOVE this film especially in IMAX 3D. Okay, some of the dialog is hokey, but the story is beautiful, the effects are fantastic, and when you literally feel like you're in the middle of a human-alien battle and falling through floating mountains, who cares?

I have heard from different versions of comics and books, never read anythyng about prior to attending the movie theater so I didn't arrive with specific expectictations, but I belive the movie is amazing, I do belive it leaves you with a great message and animation was fantastic

I was in a theater with a mixed bag of people. An overwieght black family of 3 got up and left halfway through the movie. The people I was with said that the alien thing was just too far out there.
However, I think it is the best movie to come out since "The Dark Knight".

l will be seeing this movie again in a couple of days as it is worth the price to see more than one time. The technology is amazing and while the story is reasonably predictable I didn't get caught up in that as the scenery and colors were so awesome it was mesmerizing. I had heard there was bad language in it but there wasn't all that much and come on, its military. I will buy this movie when it comes out and only wish it could come out in 3D w/glasses for home use.

We were really looking forward to this movie but halfway through I couldn't wait for it to end. The story is overly simplistic, the characters flat. The imaginative and beautiful effects cannot sustain this almost three hour long movie. Kids might enjoy this but anyone else should save their money.

It was a high tech, 3D version of Dances With Wolves in blue...but I liked the message of respecting the environment.
In all, it was too violent to show to younger kids, but I've seen parents bring four-year olds to Freddie vs. Jason.

The 3-D and special effects make the complete absence of original story elements almost entirely unnoticeable--almost.
Be sure to see Avatar in a "Real-D" 3-D theater. The tasteful use of the technology is one of the primary drivers of this movie's success.
If you don't expect a riveting plot, then you are unlikely to be disappointed by the rest of this film.

Outstanding visuals,special effects, photography, and technology. Simplistic, fomulaic plot line and no character development. Americans, having destroyed our own planet, proceed to pillage and plunder a race of peaceful, spiritual beings on Pandora who happen to have a planet with stuff we want without the natives of course. Excellent movie, when in 2D. It's even better in IMAX 3D. This 3D isn't your old school version with an occasional hand reaching out to grab you. This 3D makes the movie seem real. As if you're no longer looking through a screen, but instead you're actually there. Most criticism attacks the plot/theme of the movie as not being "original", but who cares! With so many movies every year, we can't have an original plot every single time. In fact, this movie makes up for the plot by creating a completely unique world. Instead of your typical green alien with 2 tentacles on their head, we have this feline based alien on a planet where every animal is unique in design and has 6 legs etc...
Overall, 5 out of 5 easy.
