Unlike some others who watched the 2D version and didn't like it, I liked it very much. Didn't see it in 3D because of personal choice. This movie was interesting and the characters well developed. Worth seeing!

The creativity of the story made us feel part of the movie which we enjoyed and the kids could obtain a great message, Regarding to protect and care the nature life and species. In addition reflect that violence is not good and the good things and love always will be over any circunstances.

Why would this movie be offered in 2D? I settled because of the time slot of the 2D. I was completely disappointed, but could see how it would be awesome in 3D. I am very annoyed that it would even be offered this way.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE 2D VERSION. Demand the 3D!!!!

Yes, it was excellent story-telling on par with Titanic. Only one "shecky" element on a Jar-Jar Binks level - the name of the coveted element: "Un-obtainium" (groan). But, the 3D element really redefines what we will expect of future theater movie going experiences. A-MAZE-ING.

James Cameron has done it again. Obviously, I heard about all the great things about Avatar and for once, they were all true. This movie MUST be seen on the big screen in all its 3D glory.
The special effects were amazing. The make believe world of Pandora was so detailed that Cameron makes you believe it was actually filmed on a distant planet.
The story does a great job of developing the characters and also making you care not only about the natives, but also the entire world of Pandora.

A fantastic movie! Visually, it is stunning; I was drawn in and enthralled immediately.
The plot is pretty basic and holds no surprises. However, it did not matter that I could guess what was going to happen next - the journey to get there was a feast for the eyes.
I saw this in 3D and found the 3D distracting. I preferred the 2D version.

I saw Avatar in a regular theater without 3D and I'm still blown away! What a beautiful film!
The story was beautiful, the imagination on display was off the hook!

First: Great special effects of course. Acting is OK, but not much was required with this plot. I wish, when they spend all this money making a movie, they could hire some better writers. It's kind off like "Pearl Harbor" (although that story was even worse - downrigt laughable) I guess the writer's strike took it's toll.

this movie is incredible, despite the fact that the plot is basically Pocahontas in space. after the first 10 minutes you are intrigued and after about 20-30 minutes you don't even notice the strange accents of the indigenous people of Pandora. the special effects were fantastic. enough said. the creatures of Pandora were creative and interesting and i loved the whole movie, start to finish. spectacular job, James Cameron, spectacular. whoever hasn't seen this had better ASAP. In 2D preferably, i heard 3D wasn't as good so i watched in 2D and was completely content.

This movie is the start of a change from violence and mutalation to a real story and profesional production. James Cameron did an outstanding job of directing and creating a new way to enjoy a movie production.
There will be many awards for this production and I hope to see more movies from him.
He appears to be the new Cecil B Demill when it comes to epic movies.

The movie was too long and much to violent at the end. The monsters in the begining could be a problem for young children. I just don't see this movie getting awards for anything other than the Computer Generated Graphics.
This is not one of Hollywoods best for todays world they are bombarding us with violence.

This movie has moved to the top of my all-time favorite list!!!! The flow was great! There was never a lull in the story line. Edge-of-your-seat drama throughout the entire movie! Special effects were fantastic! I can't stop talking about how James Cameron puts you right in the middle of this movie - you feel like you are one of them! The story was Good. The visual effects were unsurpassed! Kept my riveted to my seat for the entire 2 hours and 40 mins. This movie is a must see in the theater. You will kick yourself if you don't and see it later on TV. If you haven't seen a movie in ten years this is the one you have been waiting for. Just do it! You won't regret it.

I had heard nothing but positives about Avatar and was compelled to see it. The beginning was a bit on the slow side, but that was the only thing that was. From that point on, I was so enthralled with the subject matter, special effects, the acting, the 3D, and the story line. It is a work of beauty in which Love and Goodness win out. . Take what you see in this movie and see how our government is not the wonderful USA that we have been taught to believe. Everyone should see Avatar, especially in the IMAX 3D form.

James Cameron has created a truly wonderful world with animals and people living in it, but the plot was very obvious.
I don't think there's anything I could write in here that would be a spoiler for the film, as you'd work it out immediately when watching it anyway.
Incidentally, should you want to know how the meeting of indigenous peoples with profit-hungry industrialists would really end, see the British Empire.

I loved this movie. It definately wasn't what I expected. I thought it was going to be just another hyped-up take over the world sci-fi/action movie but I found it to be very thought provoking, and of course visually stimulating, it captured my attention throughout. It made for lots of discussion afterwords not only for the political undertones but also for the "oneness" of all living things. I highly recommend this movie.

I would NOT recommend the Eastglenn Theater in Lee's Summit though. The theater experience was terrible. It's a good thing the movie was so great.
