I have seen it 3 times already. First time in regular 2d then twice in IMAX 3D. So worth it to see the big screen 3dness. Excellent visuals of course and I enjoyed the story.
Looking forward to a sequel.

Avatar was enjoyable and it did not feel like 2 hours 40 minutes. I was entertained, but expected something more from the Best Picture winner at the Golden Globes. The special effects were stunning. Aside from the beautiful world created by Mr. Cameron, the story was very run of the mill. It has been done hundreds of times. There was no new message that hasn't been sent in many other movies. A great deal of the movie centered around the characters running around the forest and showing off the imaginative creatures. The story could have been told in under 2 hours. I would wait for video on this one.

The graphics were unlike anything seen before. It was hard to tell where human ends and CGI begins.

The special effects are excellent. Nothing else about this movie is noteworthy, except that it demonstrates that the money isn't being spent on the writing. The story is bland. The 'science' of the science fiction is just plain dumb.

This film draws from our deepest emotions to create a world so alluring and intriguing that the viewer cannot help but desire to become a part of it. Watching this film is like watching a dream develop into a reality. The imagery is breathtaking, the score is beautiful, and the story is moving and heartfelt. Yes, this story has been told countless times, but James Cameron has retold it well, and in a way that makes it totally original. This film is a long one, but you won’t notice, and by the end, you will be craving more. Not since “The Wizard of Oz,” has a film been so vivid as to blur the boundaries between reality and fiction.

Typical Cameron -- lots of wow; concrete level of intelliegence like Titanic. Palinites will love it. Independent lovers will feel cheated and trapped in to another expensive conventional money sucker.
Good to see in theatre because of the effects, but don't go see the 3D if you just had an expensive dinner. You may lose it.

I really enjoyed the film and thought it was very well done. Get over the political messages it by no means dominated the film. I am libertarian / republican and was not offended by any hidden agenda. Most of the shots were at humans not right-wingers. I thought the strongest parallel was the white man wiping out the American Indians. Yeah a few terminology jabs (terrorist/shock-and-awe) but the storyline was whitey vs native american in my opinion which is many generations out of my control.

I wasn't expecting much when I sat down - I thought it was for kids.....it's not. It blew me away. It was a very powerful, spiritual movie that also had quite a bit of violence and some language that deemed it not suitable for children. Great message and amazing technology Loved it!

Nicely made movie!...it is has a spash of Pocohontas, Lord of the Rings and some futuristic stuff. Many great points were made in this movie. Only thing as a Christian, I didn't like some of the symbolisms. This movie is certainly best going in not having any clue about what to expect. I think I would watch it again.

Beautifully and artfully filmed. Worth going for the visual effects.
Story begins with an interesting scientific premise but devolves into Dancing With Wolves meets Pocahontas. A young but good-hearted American white man meets exotic beautiful native princess who needs to be rescued from American aggression. Makes one cringe to have to sit through the story.

This movie is spectacular. The special effects were fantastic. And for the story, it excels with twists and turns and inside-outs but it fills in the blanks in the end. The trailer doesn't show the best scenes which is great because some trailers do. I came into the theater not knowing what to expect. I came out wanting to watch it again and again. I suggest this movie to everyone. It has romance blooming and action and exceeds in all places.

I was planning on just waiting for this movie to come out so I could rent it. I am so glad that I gave in and went to see it on the big screen in 3D instead. The experience was great. The plot itself was a little over played, but then again in this day and age what isn't.. right?.?.
Dorky as it may sound part of me wished that I could visit this world...and that is due in part to the great CGI that helped make this picture possible. I highly recommend seeing this film on the big screen while you still have a chance. And if you are willing to pay a little extra be sure to check it out in 3D.

Do not go to movies that often, but I so enjoyed the Darkover books by marion zimmer bradley
that include a tall spiritual blue race of people who live in the trees, that I just had to see Avatar. Did not disappoint. Was like a live version of the Darkover books. Did not see at Imax, but may see it again in that theatre. Love the message. A must see!!!

It's been a very long time since I've enjoyed a movie this much. Avatar combines outstanding visuals with a very good storyline. What struck me the most was the scenery and the way it's virtually alive with strange, unique, and very fitting lifeforms. A great way to spend two and a half hours!

Awesome!, A must see in Imax. 3D; The Real3D version do not make it as well visually in detail due to the fact some movie theaters have not replaced their old projections screens for the new special ones use by the Imax digital theaters.

This movie had outstanding computer graphics and although it was the classical story about good and evil, it was superbly done from start to finish. I would recommend this movie without hesitation to any lover of Sci-Fi and those with a love of a fertile mind let loose.

The 3D special effects and amazing beauty of this film make it worth watching. The plot of the story is one so basic and similar to so many movies of the past making it very predictable. The acting is strong, the special effects are great, I only hoped for a more interesting and creative story.
