A film that pulls you in and never lets you go. The visuals held your eyes to the screen and made you want to disappear to the world of the Navi. A first of its kind film that you can walk away from inspired and transpired by its beauty.

The story is simple, evil miners versus the indigenous population. The CGI is "almost" perfect. So good, in fact that you tend to forget that you are looking at CGI at all. See this on the big screen and not in some crummy multiplex. Trust me on this.

I thought the action and the special effects were awesome. The plot was so predictable (evil exploiters of the environment/little guy arrive in virgin territory. Little guy with help from an "enlightened" former exploiter tackle the entire evil complex, while the former exploiter changes sides for good, and all is happy for ever and ever. Why do talented people like Cameron feel the need to be so PC in movies?

I was looking forward to this movie and it came through in every way possible. The story was strong. The action was not pointless and the Na'vi(local people) looked so real that half-way through the film I had to remind myself that they didn't have their own planet in real life. This story has something for everyone. Great all around, a must see for any movie goer!

For those of you who keep saying this is a part of The Last Airbender series on Nickelodeon - GROW A BRAIN! That series was created in 2005 - this movie was written in the early 1980s by James Cameron. Next, the plot of both aren't even remotely similar. Do some research prior to posting such comments. Regarding the CG - it's never been seen before because Cameron invented it for this movie specifically. So, again, please use your head. This movie will be awesome, just like all of James Cameron's other movies. He is a visionary director that is probably one of the most inventive and creative minds of our time. I can't wait to see this - especially in 3D.

The synopsis for this movie says that "Avatar" is the story of an ex-Marine who finds himself thrust into hostilities on an alien planet filled with exotic life forms. Once a Marine, Always a Marine: This truism is now the official motto of the Marine Corps League. The origin of the statement is credited to a gung-ho 40 year Marine Corps Master Sergeant, Paul Woyshner. During a barroom argument he shouted, "Once a Marine, always a Marine!" MSgt. Woyshner was right. Once the title "U.S. Marine" has been earned, it is retained. There are no ex-Marines or former-Marines. There are (1) active duty Marines, (2) retired Marines, (3) reserve Marines, and (4) Marine veterans. Nonetheless, once one has earned the title, he remains a Marine for life.

James Cameron has directed, written, and produced some of the best and most memorable movies that I personally have ever had the pleasure of watching and now, with this movie, he's sharing his vision with us again. I also think that they should have found another name because everyone is expecting to see The Last Airbender, it's deceiving. I have a ten year old who is excited to the movie now I have to explain to him that this is not what he thinks.

1. No, this is NOT The Last Airbender. It's only been explained to you idiots 50 million different ways. This is a much older story than that. No mysticism garbage. Just good old science fiction.
2. This is James F'ing Cameron. The man has never made a bad movie. Ever.
3. No, the effects have NOT "all been seen before." Fully interactive CG environments and fully photoreal CG characters who emote... nothing on this scale has ever been done. And no, they don't look like cartoons.
4. Go see it in IMAX 3D - don't watch a quicktime trailer and think you know everything there is to know about the movie.
Stupid kids. Better yet, if you're gonna be a baby about it, stay home. I don't need you ruining my viewing experience.

I'm sure this movie will be interesting and somewhat exciting. It isn't so much the CG that's throwing off my excitment, even though it definitely has been done before, but the fact that it is called "Avatar". It is a joke to let this movie look like this and be named this when the series "The Avatar: The Last Airbender" is infinitely better in both plot and vision.
Should have found a new name.. Give us The Avatar. Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Appa.. And best of all. Zuko

Just from watching the preview the hype went way down, the CG has all been seen before. The plot of the movie is stale and over done, and it is basically just a metaphor for the war in Vietnam. If you watch the preview, you will basically get nothing out of the movie other than some blue creatures swinging around like tarzan, and a guy in a wheel chair. This is far too hyped up, much like transformers 2 was.
