Although the plot was predictable it was nonetheless well executed. The visuals and graphics were delivered as promised. I am a not a person who cares to watch the same movie several times, but in this instance I definitely would. Character development of the Avatars was well thought out. Their human counterparts not-so-much.

Has the classic good vs. evil. You'll fall in love with Pandora (their planet). Watching this movie was like eye candy. Although this movie is long, it didn't feel like it. I liked it so much I'll buy it on Blue Ray when it comes out.

I was without doubt absorbed by the colors and emotions of this movie.There were moments when I had to remember to breath. I went to see it simply because I was curious about the special effects but there was much more to it than that. Very entertaining!!. I am glad I went to see it.

i would never see this film without the 3d or imax. it was a waste. the story was mediocre. it is all about the effects and unfortuneatly i went to a non 3d. should not even be shown without 3d that is what people are expecting.

This wasn't just a movie it was a once it a lifetime out of body experience. It draws you in you become a part of it, it comples you to believe the impossible and you don't want it to end. I thruoughly enjoyed this movie and will see it again.

I did not want to see this movie but I was dragged by my son. I am so glad I went. This is one of the best movies of the year. Congrats definately goes to James Cameron. He took a cowboys and indians movie but modernized it and made it Where the indians finally won one.
Never again will I doubt my son's taste in movies.

Nothing like I have ever seen in visual effects. The story is very moving about love of each other, the universe, and all living things being interconnected to the point that great battles will be fought to protect and secure life itself for all.
The action never stops, very gripping, moving and just splendid eye candy throughout the entire episode with the effects of the world he creates. Masterful.

Its not perfect but I guarantee you will enjoy the ride.
Pros: Best visual presentation. Ever. Period. Plot was easy to follow (see cons). Action sequences were fantastic. Was long but didn't feel like close to 3 hours (and I had small children w/ me who were fine the entire time). Anyone can find something to like about this movie.
Cons: Formuliac plot. Blurs border between preaching (eco-friendliness, evil corporation/military) and storytelling.
From now on any movie with CG effects will be compared against it, and come up lacking.

I didn't expect to cry, just wanted to enjoy the visuals and I was blown away with this movie - and I didn't even watch it in 3-D. It didn't feel like nearly 3 hours - I wish it continued longer. The world on Pandora that Cameron has created is beyond spectacular - it moved me deeply and touched my heart in a really unexpected way. This was an experience, not a movie. I was taken on a spiritual quest where the interconnectedness of all life was portrayed so vividly and beautifully that I could not hold back tears of joy. If you go see ANY movie, see Avatar. I can't wait to see it again and I NEVER see movies twice. Enjoy!

I love science fiction movies, action, and computer animation so this was a great movie for that. It was fascinating. Unfortunately the underlying message of the movie was from a man pushing his liberal viewpoints all the way through. It was nauseating. The whole family, including our children, were disgusted. It bashes the Bush administration and conservatives, the Iraq war, continues to bring up how terrible the white man is for taking native American land (when will that ever stop), and takes a stab at Christianity. The movie is a waste of money. I wish I had never seen it.

I went to the movie with some trepitation since there are times that the movies that my 10 year old wants to see are not always engaging for me. I thought that the movie surpassed my expectation. It was extremely well done. It had environmental themes and social justice themes. I think that cfhildren and youth should be challenged to think about how we treat those who may be preceived different from ourselves with a more positive spin. I worry about the moral compass of today's society and I think the movie creates opportunities for some discussion between family members on the subject. I would recommend this movie to friends and most certainly would be willing to see it again.

Avatar is the best movie that I have ever seen. I will be seeing it again before it leaves the movie theaters, which I never, ever do. And will definitely buy the DVD. The movie storyline is similar to what the Whites did to the Native Americans (well still doing to the Native Americans). Graphics are fantastic as is the acting. This is a must see and deserves many awards.

This movie is phenomenal for its theatrical presence. The real world seems boring when you walk out of the theater!
But the liberal agenda is huge in this. Corporations are bad, military bad, scientist and natives good.
But as a Christian I too identify with the warrior who sacrifices himself to stop bullies from taking things that are not theirs, and fighting for the helpless. All of us can identify with that.

Avatar 3D sets bar for the way 3D will be used in movies going forward... it is a paradigm shift in film making. This is not simply a bunch of flashy "wow" effects as used in movies past.
I highly recommend the 3D version. It is comfortable to watch and pulls you into the action.
Take note that this is a 2.75 hour movie... go to the bathroom first.

Due to the economic woe that is my bank account, I chose to see this movie in standard format to save the extra cash they like to charge for 3D or 3D-IMAX. I was STILL stunned by everything there was to look at. You can tell no expense was spared here. I felt like had gone to the planet myself. I was so impressed by the visuals that once I get my personal economic stimulus(i.e. my next paycheck), I plan on seeing this in 3D-IMAX. I could see myself seeing this movie about 3 times at full price and then again once it hit's the "dollar theater". Bottom Line: Stunning movie with a decent plot. It was excellent. I was a little worried about having to sit through a 180 minute movie, thinking I would get bored. I was never bored! It moved along smoothly and always kept you interested. So interested that I suggest not drinking too much pop because you're not going to want to leave to use the bathroom! Great flick to keep both men and women interested, action and romance! A must see in the movie theater!

I liked this movie for the special effects but the story is not very original. There is always the good people, the bad people and the final epic battle with tons of explosions and weapons.

IF you like big Hollywood Blockbuster type movies, then AVATAR hits a home run. Once you get past any political or plot critical baggage you might be carrying, this movie totally entertains. Entertains on a level like no other film you have ever seen. It is perhaps the most entertaining film I have seen this year, and is definitely the best CG film I have ever seen (sorry Lucas, Spielberg, McG, Bay and Emmerich), but Cameron just threw it down on you. My only criticism is the film could have used a little more emotional weight.
