While the basic story line resonates with ALL the great stories ever told, if not actually repeating them: Greed=evil etc. it is a story worth to be retold. And Cameron does it well, using every mean in his arsenal to do the best job possible. This movie is a feast for the eyes, heart and mind, and is a testimony of how DIVERSITY is still held in high esteem among humans. Willingness to consume these morals is important to keep our only hope as sentient beings.

It was everything I expected and more. I loved being able to submerge myself in this new world. It is visually stunning and the story line was interesting. The movie went by so fast for me I think I could have sit through another 2 hours! Will see again, will recommend for others to see and I will own this magnificent movie!

I'm a fan of James Cameron's, though I admit I wasn't really that into going to see Avatar. Although the spectacle of Titanic was great, that story left me a bit flat. Avatar is that on steroids (though I enjoyed the story more).
I knew where the story was going and there were few surprises. But the way Cameron was able to use the new technology to fully immerse me in the experience and the world was thrilling. This was unlike any film experience I have ever had. More than eye candy, it made the idea of CGI disappear for me. And because the 3D was fully integrated into the environment, I was able to really enjoy the story.
My list of groundbreaking films: Star Wars, Terminator, Jurassic Park, and now Avatar.

I saw this in 3D at my local IMax, and the film was fantastic. I do not know if the excellent 3D experience made it better, but this movie was visually brilliant. The commercials do not do it justice, at all! I was also happy to learn that the story line was pretty good also. I was not expecting much from it, since so much was being put into the special effects. It was a great movie and well worth watching on the big screen. It was a cinematic experience.

Originally concerned about 2 hours and 40 minutes....Time flew and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Great story, great effects and even great ethics and values...all in the best sci-fi thriller since the original Star Wars. Take your kids 10 and older.

Well done. I was not sure about the 3D effect but I am glad I watched it in 3D. Must see movie and I liked the political message that it delivered. The ending was not un-expected but the special effects keeps you engaged. Both my husband and I enjoyed it.

I find myself thankful that seeing George Lucas redefine special effects back in 1977 pushed James Cameron to want to do his sci-fi epic to top that. It may have taken him over 30 years, but we finally get to see his epic.
I will be watching this movie at least another half dozen times, because it is everything he touted it to be. It is a whole new kind of movie - so vibrant and otherworldly. You cannot help but get lost in its splendor.

There are very few movies I feel I could watch two nights in a row. This was one. The first night was in a smaller theater. The second was in 3D. Both were awesome. I certainly can see the parallels between Avatar and other movies but, come on, this was fantastic. The CG was beyond belief. Definately worth seeing in 3D. This will go into my all-time-favorites catagory.

Avatar is a tough movie to review for a few reasons.
A. The movie makes alot of parallels. B. The movie's cg and special effects departments were right on. C. The writers lacked imagination in the most basic ways.
Avatar is a must see movie for the simple fact that closing your mind and watching James Cameron's directing of millions and millions and millions of dollars worth of peoples hard work, is nothing if not awesome. The very large downside is the HUGE parallels that are made (between indians and Na’Vi) every seemingly 3 - 5 minutes. In one scene the colonel over base operations for the human race calls the Na'vi "Hostiles". The Na'Vi's only weaponry are bow and arrows, they ride horses bareback the list is very long.

This was a great movie, The story was actually good for a change when so many movie just try to throw special effects and overload us with it. This movie really is a must see b/c its one of those rare movies that has everything a movie lover would want. It is visually the most stunning film to date and will probably stay that way for a long time. The Story line is excellent which you would expect coming from one of the top directors of all time. This movie, has something for everyone! If you dont go see it, you will be doing a disservice to yourself!

When I watched the trailer I wasn't so interested, because it didn't catch my attention. Tonight I went to go see it, and it went beyond realistic expectations. It's so good its DVD should be a disc of gold.

I have always maintained that I am easily entertained ... I mean I enjoy watching the Twilight movies for heaven's sake ... with that said, although I will enjoy a movie, it is very rare that I would deem a movie good, great, or amazing ... and I most definitely would accredit all these and more to Avatar. Fantastic story line, amazing visuals, all together fantastic. Probably the only nearly-3-hour long movie I have walked out of completely held captivated by every moment, and thankful for the length.

This movie will become a milestone in moviemaking. I truly believe James Cameron has taken movie making to the point where whatever the mind can dream, can now be put on film. The story line was very good, containing all of the necessary ingredients to keep everyone enthralled. It is a love story, a war chronicle, a sci-fi thriller, an environmental documentary, a case study of aboriginal peoples, a veiled look at racism and manifest destiny, an expose' on human greed for wealth and power, all of this spread out on a blanket of surreal and almost impossible landscapes with the most amazing creatures rendered with a true artists eye. I will be seeing this movie again, and will purchase it as soon as it is available on disc.

This was a movie that i said i would never go to see.But a guy that i am dating always said this would be an excellent movie to go see, with a great storyline and also not to mention the great graphics.So i finally gave in and saw it yesterday,im glad we did go see the movie,It was awesome.The movie theater was packed(even due to the snow storm)I would never doubt him again.I enjoyed the storyline and the great graphics.I would defintely see it again.

Absolutely wonderful. I am a fan of special effects and this tops them so far. And I am a Fan of Edgar Rice Burrows Martian Chronicles and Terry Goodkinds Sword of Truth series. This story is in the same spirit and better! It was so beautifully done and the cast was excellent! And it had Sigourney Weaver as a member of the team like in Aliens. What a great fantasy... I loved every moment and look forward to seeing it again!

I saw this movie in IMAX 3D and it was seriously the most amazing experience I have ever had in a movie theatre. It seems that technology has finally caught up to the imagination and creativity of James Cameron (AMEN!!). The movie is so well done and seeing it in IMAX 3D just makes it feel so real...go see this movie, it will blow you away!

The acting, special effects and basic story were all terrific, and I'd see it again in a heartbeat. However, notwithstanding Cameron's claims on Fox to the contrary, the message is well to the left end of the political spectrum, and quite heavy handed.
I, for one, am tired of seeing humans in general and the institutions of the U.S. in particular (the U.S. Marines in this case) portrayed in such a negative light by the Hollywood leftist elite. Leave your goofy politics out of my movies, please. I prefer to get my moral instruction at church, not at the movies, thank you very much.

I had absolutely no plans to go see this movie. However, my husband decided that's what he wanted to do for his birthday. It turned out to be a terrific movie. Even our 4 kids, ages 17, 15, 13 & 11 (boys & girls) loved it. The story, graphics, and actors were amazing. All the work put into making this movie definitely paid off.

Wouldn't we all, if the world was real and reachable? They did a phenomenal job with this film's CG, artistic design, and overall presentation of this imaginary, distant, planet. I was happy with pretty much everything in the movie, definitely predictable but that was OK by me. I would go see this movie while in theaters. Not big on the 3D hype going on with movies right now; but this was tastefully done.
