At first, like many, I was hesitant to spend the time and money on James Cameron's new film. I saw the trailers and what not, but it never really caught my attention. In the end, I'm glad I did. Every movie I you can think of that had suspense, action, drama, sci-fi glory, Avatar has it all plus more.
Once again Cameron proves himself in the hiearchy of the directors that will be remembered for centuries.
It was epic in scale, great for the entire family, the best special effects since 2012, and a definite win for the oscars and any awards you could imagine.

I was mesmerised from beginning to end. The world of Pandora in 3D is illuminating and brillant with all its creatures and characters. James Cameron was more than justified in waiting for the technology to catch up with his vision. There were some moments where I wanted to jump out of my seat in excitement (but didn't). The only possible negative I could say is the plot line was predictable in most respects. Despite that, I highly recommend this movie!

Incredible...simiply breathtaking for the beginning to end. You don't want it to end. I'm glad James Cameron waited until the technology caught up with his vision. You truly get lost in the world of Pandora. This should run away with an Oscar for everything! We saw it in 3D which I found a bit annoying. We're going to see it again only not in 3D.

This movie was visually stunning and totally engrossing from beginning to end. To be honest, this was the first 3D movie I had seen since the early 70's debacles. You quickly forgot that you were wearing the 3D gear.The story was timeless, but not totally predictable and the action kept you on the edge of your seat. The script and acting took you through a wide range of emotions, which were so effective that the audience actually applauded at the end of the showing I attended. The last time I experienced that type of audience reaction was when Star Wars debuted.Bottom line, this is a must see movie. The test of a really good movie for me is if i would consider seeing it again. I would see this movie again and again.

Watching this movie in 3D was a beautiful experience. The story line was good, graphics are great. But for 2 hours and 40 mins the movie was at times a bit too slow.

Avatar at the core, is the American West all over again, technologically superior invaders want what they want and will do anything to get it. A beautiful society of spiritually evolved indigenous people are confronted with a force greater and baser than themselves. The film does a great job of establishing and illustrating realities as both people and aliens know them; the web of connection with nature amongst sentient creatures as the potential for all beings, no exception. Hollywood offers up the special effects in service of the story and for once, the movie isn't simply a vehicle for wizardry ... yet wizards are at work! This is a well imagined and well seen extravaganza. Something for everyone, wowed or moved, it’s all there!

I am going to keep this short since words can't explain how I felt about this very important film. It's hard to compare it to anything since it seems to be the 1st of it's kind. The CGI is seemless, the story is captivating and finds you rooting for something other than us, and I couldn't take my eyes off of the screen. I could have sat and watched another 2 hours of this. Jim Cameron has done it again!!!!!

Rarely does a movie sweep you off your feet both by the depth of the plot and by the all too believable special effects. It's so easy to feel as if you too have joined the cast on Pandora on this jaw dropping, edge of your seat epic, with or without 3D. Finally there is a film that does not protray the natives as savages, but rather as the good guys, unlike our textbooks and teachers claim year after year. We can only hope that there is a sequel that is half as good.

I just loved the beauty of this movie. I really felt like I had visited Pandora and loved it there. The story was great and I hope we get to see more of the young couple in the future. I wanted to be fifteen feet tall and blue when I left the theater.

How to describe this movie? The story was a well used trope of two people from different species/worlds/fsocio-political views. However, I forgot that Pandora was made up almost from the time the lead male character landed there. The trope was reinvigorated with themes that also spoke to current political tensions in the Middle East (i.e., what was the real motivation for the war?). None of the characters were all wrong or all right in their views so there was room for the audience to struggle with the same tensions. The film was breath taking and in some places reminded me of real landscape (e.g., Victoria Falls). Well worth the ticket price. Can't wait for the next one.

I recommend this film for the special effects, which are amazing. The story, on the other hand, plays out far too lopsided in making the good "guys" glisten while making the bad guys not only evil but stupid. To mirror our past, present, and/or future, a bit more conflicted mental engagement would have been appreciated and added relevance to the film. Instead, we are left feeling preached at yet at least amazed by the multimedia used.

Avatar was a good movie. Story was predictable but the special effects are a must see. You have to see it in 3-D and in the theater. I think the experience would be a lot less positive if you wait for the rental.

This movie fills the senses to overflowing. I saw it at the IMAX 3-D, and it was spectacular. The visuals are stunning, but the story line is just as engrossing. It is the most innovative movie since Star Wars. I loved it!

For every second of the movie I was lost in the beautiful nature of Pandora, and completely had my mind out of this world. It's simply breath-taking, at times I was about to get off my seat and grab myself a dragon to fly with them. Definitely the best movie ever! This is a once in a life time experience you don't want to miss.

At first I wasn't sure what I was going to think of this movie. But let me tell you, Once I put on my 3D glasses and the show began, I was mesmerized. Unbelivable. What a show. I did not take my eyes off the movie from the time it started to the end. I didn't even realize that I had sat there for 3 hours. If you have not seen Avatar, you must.

This is a special effects movie with a tried and true storyline about conflict, love, greed, war and the little guy beating the big guy. The computer generated imagery is not the same as some video game, as others have said. It's a major step forward and you quickly become immersed in the world of Pandora. I saw it in 3D and it was cool. I was thoroughly entertained and I want to see it again!

One of the top 10 all time best movies in every aspect from musical score, acting, action and storyline. You'll miss everything if you don't see it in 3D. For those that didn't like it, it would do well for them to explain why it was that at the end of the movie the audience was on their feet clapping for it, it was that good. It's the kind of movie that one really WANTS to see again. I went for the sheer entertainment of it and it more than delivered. To those that didn't like it, I can only guess they have no imagination.

awesome but it was entirely to long at the end it just started dragging on and on it got to the point to where i was just like kill the guy already so I can go home but other then that if you don't mind sitting though a long movie then you should go see it.
The landscaping they did was beautiful the plot kind of reminded me a bit of pocahontas but that made it more entertaining for me haha

Special effects were great! The movie? Boring and banal. The most formulaic, unimaginative story ever told, and told, and told. You've seen it dozens of times. Good guys vs. bad guys, heir to the chief vs. outsider, outsider gets girl. Na'vi's are a cross between Native American and African tribes, "creatures" are analogs for earthly animals. Na'vi's are just big blue-striped humans with cat-like features.
Once you get used to the terrific special effects, after about an hour, it's a slog through a predictable tale that ends with the good guys beating the bad guys in an all out war spectacular. A movie for 14-year old boys.

Avatar met my expectations and surpassed them in many ways. The creatures and the settings are so "real" looking... so well-created.
This is an amazing, shocking and fantastic treat to the senses, and such attention to detail. No wonder it cost soooo much to create this film.
Pay the extra and see it in 3d. You only live twice, and the second time there are no movies.
