Excellent Graphics. Kind of "New Agey" but very well done. I imagine the alien planet to be what the Garden of Eden might have looked like. The military and private industry were painted as being evil. Sometimes they are. This movie will set the pace of how future sci-fi & fantasy movies will be made. Good investment of under 3 hours.

Be prepared for a total immersion experience in an alien culture. Sort of a cross between Star Wars (think Ewoks and Jar-Jar Binks) and Pocahontas with a few flying dragons thrown in. In this movie, you will believe in the alien characters more than the human ones with the exception of the female helo pilot (Ana Lucia from Lost). The military leader has no depth (Kill! Kill! Kill!) but the alien Navi make up for that. I've heard it described as a love story and it is that, but there sure are lots of battle sequences to keep the guys happy too.

My husband and I went to see Avatar yesterday and we thought it was excellent. It has a good plot, and the the 3D and special effects were very impressive. If you like sci-fi, then this is a must see. We thought this was as good as the Lord of the Rings series.

Wow!!!!! This movies is an all time favorite. I do not pay to see movies twice but after seeing it the first time, I called a friend and took her, her three childen and a couple of their friends to see it for the second time. The visual effects are worth the price of admission and a good and insightful story line as well. I am leaving for Russia in a coupld of days and have suggested to my friend there that we go to see it while I am there. See this movie, you will not be disappointed. Can't wait for it to come out on DVD so I can buy it and view it many times. This is truly a wonderful movie. A must see.

Spectacular 3D and special effects- but the spiritual dimension and message was even more spectacular. Great to get this message of Unity out to mass consciousness. Loved that. A tough Marine gets it. The healing scenes are rigth on. The action and movement through the film kept it lively and entertaining. Fantastic vision in the scenes, good connection with Gaia. Go see this!

It is awesome! I saw it in Imax and 3D and the graphics are so cool! It is an action adventure sort-of-almost-romance with a military twist. It is based on another planet, and that is why it is a totally unreal experience. It is a great movie I will never forget, with new twists and turns in every direction, and a totally new perception of life along with a conclusion that will leave you stunned!

First off, if you have a choice of Digital or 3D... choose 3D. Not that it wouldn't be good in the normal format, but the added 3D really intensifies the action and puts you in the action. Both the technical aspects and the story line are excellent and I would definitely like to see it again. With all the action I imagine that there are some things I might have missed. I highly recommend this movie

Pros-If you liked "Dances with Wolves" just imagine it happening on an alien planet. The main character, Jake Sully is a disabled Marine instead of Calvary and the Navi are 12 ft tall blue humanoids that dress like plains indians. It's an exciting adventure that has to be seen in the theater to get the full experience, as it was meant to be.A feast for the eyes that should not be missed.
Cons- It's preachy at times with it's not so subtle inferences to politics and the environment. It is also very predictable. Do not expect some deep and mystical experience. The story line and plot are cookie cutter simple. The visuals are spectacular but the characters and story just don't equal up.

Extremely awesome movie. This is a great date movie. Don't let the trailers make you think it's just a guy war movie. There is a spiritual, moral, redeeming, love story here. I can't wait to see it again, but in 3D, if I can get tickets. I will definetly purchase this on DVD when it comes out.

My family had heard great things about this movie and no one was disappointed. A very good story line, beautifully filmed, the movie's special effects were gorgeous and the action was exciting and rewarding. Was this an allegory of good-vs-evil, a replay of manifest destiny and Native Americans (albeit with a new ending)? Probably. But it was worth the 3 hour investment, and ranks at the top of my family's favorite movies.

Saw it in 3D which took awhile to adjust to. Good story line. Allegory on the fate of native Americans except with a happy ending. Excellent graphics and special effects. For a movie of this length, it was quick paced enough that I did not notice I sat there for nearly 3 hours. My popcorn ran out did run out half way through it. I am sure this will be up for awards

This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I immediately wanted to see it a second time, and am planning on taking my mother with with me when I go. The visuals were stunning and the actors were amazing. My grandson was ready to fight for the aliens and so was I. A fantastic movie and a must see for 2009.

I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. With all the hype it had, I figured it would just be ok. The graphics and simulations were awesome! I would see it again. I thought it would drag, but I don't think that there was any part of the movie that they could cut out. I never thought "will this movie ever end". Definitely a must see!

3D : The plot was very UN-original & predictable- however, the movie is worth seeing just for the virtual special effects. The middle of the movie "flying" scenes, could also have been cut- it was slow- boring- and would have made the movie better paced if removed.
Overall, it is a movie that needs to be seen in a large theater- even though I am not sure how much the "3D " made a difference.
