Of all the movies I have watched in 2009, I enjoyed Avatar the most. Excellent in all respects: casting, acting, scripting, special effects, and themes. Very enjoyable and entertaining, I will attend this movie for a second time.

Sure the story has been told before, in fact it is a lot like the story line in Dances with Wolves, but the technology was incredible, light years better than anything I have seen before. It made you wish you could live there with the natives

With the help of excellent special effects and an outstanding cast, James Cameron has once again created a fantastic fantasy world that brings to light the social impact of the ravaging that is occurring in our own rain forests. His fantasy world is of mythical scale and grandeur with mile high trees, floating mountain ranges, luminescent flora, and fantastic creatures. The characters are believable and you are immediately absorbed into the story. I anxiously await the sequels.

This is the 4th time I have now seen this movie and all on the opening week. The last time I went to a movie multiple times in the theater was for Matrix. This is absolutely amazing on all levels. Has a great story, amazing graphics, intense action, all together great movie and still hasn't gotten old. I am even going a 5th time this weekend.

Watched this movie in IMAX 3D and again on the regular screen. While still very good on the regular screen it is best by far in the IMAX experience. I was blown away with the big screen and felt like I was there. If your going to go see this movie, pay the extra and experience it the way it was ment to be watched.

it was just bad.... i never fall asleep during movies... but during watching avatar, i fell asleep like 20 times... so i dont even remember story well neither.... but all i can say is.... dont go watch it.. it's for kids lol

By far the best film I have seen in theaters. It really allows you to escape to a world like no other. The movie is well rounded with a dose of nearly everything. Action. Romance. Adventure. Fantasy. In essence the movie is pure as are many things in the movie. Worth seeing again and again.

While the visuals are undeniably beautiful and the battles are exciting and intense, this movie is also more style than substance, consisting of a predictable plot, flimsy two-dimensional characters, and a story that drags on longer than it should.
The Na'Vi are kind, gentle, noble, and just unrealistically "pure" and "good". On the other hand, almost every last human is portrayed as greedy, ruthless, and cruel.
There are no shocking twists. The main character is an idiot. (Soon after being warned that Pandora is extremely dangerous, he starts running around touching random objects!)
Don't get me wrong; the graphics are definitely worth checking out, but one will find much more eye candy than brain food.

I found the movie mesmerizing. How cool were the "sea-like" creatures in the forest? The movie was so beautiful and so well done that I didn't even mind the sledge hammer of a message.

This movie was an absolute pleasure to watch. I took a group of people and we all loved it. But everyone agreed the plot was predictable (US and military are bad and everyone else is good) but still the movie was a blast. And while the message was the same old thing - the core of the messages (protecting the environment and sustainable economic development) is worth repeating.

The movie should be seen just to see the Planet Pandora. I went to movie theater thinking the experience would be so much better. Don't bother. Editors could've easily cut 40 minutes out of this movie. When it comes out on DVD, rent it. At least then you can fast forward past all the obvious parts.

I admit I was awed by the graphics & imagination involved in creating this. But it stops there.I like a good plot, & this film is sadly lacking in that dept. It's the same old stuff Hollywood has been cranking out 4 decades: the evil (obviously U.S. by flag patch on uniforms) empire,driven by the money-hungry corporations& military, greedily tries 2 take all resources from "mother earth"-loving natives. U know as soon as u meet any of the characters that those in the military r all BAD, & that the natives are completely GOOD. Characters lack complexity,& story is TOTALLY predictable. I would've given 5 stars if the plot had held ANY surprises, but it never happens. Save ur $ & wait 4 the blu-ray dvd.

I wanted to see this in IMAX 3D but all current shows were sold out. I settled for a regular screen with good audio. I was still mesmerized by the movie. I love these Pocahontes, save the indiginous people movies. I know it seemed a bit predictable at times but i came expecting that. Thank you for the experience.

A truly amazing movie. The 3D was incredible and not overused. The plot was interesting. I could have watched it twice in a row. This is the "Star Wars" of the generation.
