While there are over/under tones to politics, war, greed and all in this movie I very much enjoyed seeing it on Christmas Day in IMAX 3D. A movie is suppose to be an escape for most and this movie delievered an enjoyable experience. I'd most definetly see it again in IMAX again.

The CGI, the character development, the way we as an audience are able to relate to the characters is incredible. This is by far one of, if not the best movie ive seen all year. Ive seen alot of movies this year and this one pounded the rest beneath it's feet. Avatar is a MUST see. I will not elaborate on the story itself, but its well worth watching, and if you can get to an IMAX, do that NOW before you miss this 5/5 star movie.

Beautiful graphics and wonderfully done. I wasn't sure what to expect when I saw this movie with my husband and seven year old son. We totally loved this movie and are still talking about it. There were a few parts at the beginning (a few creatures) that scared my son a little but after that, he watched it in total amazement with my husband and I. I want to see it again to see if there was anything that I missed on the first go around. Maybe in 3-D next? :) Go see it... you will truely enjoy this movie.

Beautiful Graphics. The story is not a new one, this goes back to the Conquistadors killing
in South America, and weaves in the Native Americans, Vietnamese and now the Afghans.
Of course the story remains new, because we here on this 'dying planet' refuse to get it.

In a science perspective, the theories and ideas in which a human can be connected to a drone through sleep and neurons and then completely move and live as though that drone is fascinating. The Na'ni race is unique in comparison to the normal drawings of aliens with big black eyes and gray skin. Their planet is a place I would love to go for a safari get away. The overall plot is ok/fair really. Yeah the human race at it again destroying everything and selling sympathy to what we are destroying. Bla bla bla boring! The effects were spectacular, great for 3D! Overall if you just want to watch this for the story only, save your money and wait for it to come out on DVD.

Words can not express how beautiful this movie was. It had a great story line that showcased "human greed" and it's consequences. I was praying that the humans would be defeated and was happy that justice prevailed. It was exciting to see that the "savages" already had the technology that the humans had with the same results..

I would recommend this to anyone old enough to handle the violence and language - it's not a movie for little kids. It is a pretty lame story with a weak, one-dimensional political message about as subtle as a sledgehammer. Despite that, though, if you are a movie fan you should see it in the theater - I saw it an IMAX 3D theater and it was really amazing to behold, even if I had to grit my teeth to sit through the love-your-mother-earth lectures and banal love story. The alien moon is beautiful and the execution of the effects are truly impressive. Too bad they couldn't have spent a few of the $$$ on a better story to accompany the graphics.

Same story - different planet.
Expose of the military mindset is lost.
Did provide a diversion from everyday life which is the primary purpose of films like this one.
Worst plot I have seen for many years but we don't go to see it for the plot.
Should win a couple of technical awards but if this wins best picture - the producers spent a lot on wining and dining (and you know what else !!!) the award influencers

5 stars for the special effects. This was the first time I've watched a 3-D film that didn't give me a headache. However, the plot/story- line was a bit lacking. About half way through the film I had a feeling of deja vu, and realized his diary entries were akin to "Dances With Wolves" and the sacred forest reminiscent of "Fern Gully."

This movie is visually creative and beautiful, but it lacks a creative story. We all know this story and it is not done with any thought about making it seem new. I would have liked it so much more if it had been shorter as well. It is 2hr 40min...wow, that is a long time.

So, the theater oversold the seats and though they gave us our money back, they did not give us our service charge, nor would they refund us for the unopened candy and drinks ($14.00)

AVATAR is a great flick. Don't get me wrong. But I couldn't help thinking "where have I seen this before" and then half way through the movie it dawned on me -- it's an updated version of "Dances With The Wolves" -- one of my all time favorite movies. The Na'Vi are Native Americans and Scully is Kevin Kostner's character. Even some of the dialog is the same. Of course, AVATAR doesn't take it as far as Dances With The Wolves -- in this first AVATAR film the Na-Vi win in the end. I wonder what the sequel will be like?
The movie making is spectacular. You can't tell from animation and the real characters. Brilliant cinematography in Avatar.

I really liked this movie. A lot of people were sad to see it wasnt really an Avatar movie like wind benders. But it absolutely blew me away . My boys were so excited to see it because it was a movie. They loved it at the end of it all the boys were playing like they were the actors. It was Fun! Well, even though it was PG-13 the boys 9 and 7 really enjoyed the whole effect of the movie. Can't wait for more like it.

This used new technology and that feature was interesting but the message was boring and trite. Humans are greedy and selfish and only the native people have the 'true' answers and relationship with the environment. Too much bombing and killing but then my husband enjoyed it.

Every ten or so years, there is a groundbreaking movie that changes the course of moviemaking. Avatar is that movie, which will forever alter the expectation of special effects, adding human-elements to non-human characters and the first blockbuster to truly leverage the capabilities of 3D. Despite all of the amazing effects, Avatar is blessed with a great storyline and message, which without this, would not enable it to be captivating for 2 1/2 hours and leave me (and others) jabbering about the movie for hours afterwards. Enjoy it - it's remarkable!

2 hour and 40 minute breath taking sences with edge of your seat action. love how the movie gets right in to the story with action and adventure within the first 10 minutes. a must see in Imax. could very well be one of the best action/adventure movies i have seen in 20 year. 5 stars from choice of actors to screen play.

Awesome movie. James Cameron out did himself. By far the best movie of of his repertoire. Stunning cinematography that heighten the senses. I highly recommend this movie experience to any movie goer, even the skeptic!

Depiction of Pandora was beautiful, and especially lovely in 3-D. And the technical/computer expertise is roaring hot! However, the story line was sophomoric at best (yes, James, we're all "green" and we're all connected...if not by tree roots, then by Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and the dialogue was positively moronic. Character development...well, there really wasn't any.
If you can see this in 3-D, it may be worth your time (& plan on spending a lot of time on your fanny - the guy sitting next to me had to get up & out of the row 3 times during the movie!). If not, forget it! 3 Stars for the technical, visual aspects; 0 stars for everything else!

The graphics in this movie were unbelievable. We cant wait to see the 3D version. It kept the attention of my 4 year old and my husband. It was long but worth every minute of it.
