The special effects are great, but the movie is about an hour too long. The middle was so dull that I found myself looking at the time to see how much was left. Cut a few scenes and make it worth my time.

Best movie yet. I've watched it in 3D and regular screen, 3D is better. I would recomend it to anyone. Very visually appealing and futuristic. I love it so much I want to be one of them. ;-)

This movie was a lot of fun and a great experience! The 3D effects were absolutely fantastic, showing exactly how far the technology has come. The computer generated graphics were likewise spectacular. The storyline and directing were very good - I cared about the characters and found myself totally immersed in the environment and the personal interactions. Overall I give this movie an A- with the only let down the lack of a deeper and more thoughtful plot. I'd definitely go see it again!

This movie was a beaurifully done piece of science fiction. Excellent technique over-all. The story line had something for everyone. It had a few spots where the action went on longer than necessary. Over all -- a great movie experience.

Feeling as if you can reach out and touch the scenery really brings you into the movie. I had heard this film was "visually stunning", but that isn't adequate to describe the experience of watching it. Don't listen to reviewers who call it "heavy" because James Cameron is trying to make a point about the Iraq invasion. (If anything, it more closely parallels the European invasion of America.) Just enjoy it for the two and a half hour fantasy world it admits you into.

The movie lives up pretty well to its hype, was not the best thing ever, but was very good, very worth seeing. The storyline/plot was unimaginative and fairly predictable, but the setting, graphics, and premise of the movie were spectacular.
Saw it on a regular movie screen, I look forward to seeing it on IMAX while it is still in theaters!

This is a great movie that all will enjoy. It's a battle of good vs evil, a story that helps us to take a moment to really try to understand things that we thought we understood. It's a battle of personal triumph with action and adventure and lots of subtle humor.
The technical quality is outstanding...no wonder this is now the winner of "most expensive movie ever made." It's totally enjoyable and easy to slip into belief that what you're seeing, while so fantastic, is possible somewhere in this universe.
My kids, ages 10-19 all enjoyed the movie and all for different reasons, which I always think is the sign of a great film.

Avatar was as good as all the hype said it was. The characters were well developed and the visual effects stunning. You did not feel as though you were watching a computer generated/enhanced movie. It was very real and believable. The story line was familiar but well done. I feel like it has a good chance at Best Picture at the Academy Awards.

The animation/graphics of this movie were great. Several topical debates/issues are weaved into the story line with the difference being that they play out on another planet. Even though the movie was quite lengthy, it moved quickly and didn't feel like 2hr40mins. Overall the movie was good and I would recommend it to others.

I liked the movie and it was certainly worth the money but it was a bit predictable. It was interesting though that I preferred the Avatar's to the real actors. I am not a big fan of animation but this was so beautiful I found the people to be drab, dreary and just not as interesting. Wonder for this means for the profession of acting. My daughter says its much better in IMAX as I only saw it flat screen - so maybe will go later when the lines go down....

I am ot a sifi fanatic and i loved this film. It is an epic movie about "right and wrong" . It is a movie about a marine who lost his brother and his the use of his legs , he replaces his brother on a trip to the planet of Pandora. And he ends up with the Na'a'vi tribe and becomes one of them, In sprit and mind and works to help them fight and unite against the corp and mercinaries that want to kill them for there land so they can strip mine and get a pressicous rock. I loved this movie,,,,

I would recommend Avatar for several reasons. One being because it was a beautifully animated film that higlighted our connection as beings throughout the Universe. In the storyline, one was able to see how greedy capitalistic selfishness and the military has robbed the planet of so many of its natural resources. For example robbing the planet of the energetic field of pure love and pure light that exists within all beings and connects us to our Ancestors, and to the Cosmos IE the Trees the Flora the Water the Animals the Indigenous People etc... When we pray together, we can heal eachother. Love heals all. Peace!

Really enjoyed the movie and all the special effects. Even though the movie was long, I didn't feel like I was ticking off the minutes waiting for it to be over. I stayed quite involved with what was going on. It did have a political correctness/agenda about it, but if you could get past that and just watch it for the entertainment, it was a good movie.

Entertaining movie, 3D much better than it use to be. However, does NOT live up to the hype in so many programs on our local Fox channel. Fox worked very hard at selling this movie to the public. Same old tired story line, bad Americans trying to steal the land from the Native... blah blah blah. Two other movies came out the next weekend that were far superior to this film, but without the local channel selling, selling, selling... pushing this film into our everyday, they seemed not as popular. What a shame, because they were so good!

Better than the first time I saw it...when it was called "Dances with Wolves". The CG animation is amazing and well worth the ticket. Cameron learned a lot from Jackson about getting a fantastic performance from his animated "actors". Take a look at the Cameron/Jackson dialogue in the Dec. 28 issue of Newsweek. I kept thinking that Sam Worthington looks just like convicted murderer Scott Peterson.

I have to say this was the most visually stunning movie I have ever seen. James Cameron REALLY outdid himself. The graphics were completely unparalleled--even though I knew much of it was CG, I was still questioning whether certain elements were CG or real, that's how good they were. Because the effects were so visceral, I got so wrapped up in the world of Pandora and the story, I really felt like I was a part of it. The acting was also superb--I can't think of a better cast to have been picked! Sam Worthington and Zoe Soldana were fantastic! I HIGHLY recommend this movie!!!

Fantastic if you take the movie for what it is - "a movie" - for entertainment value - the special affects were excellent - good story line - funny with drama and plenty of action.
