Never in a million years would I have thought I'd be raving about Avatar!! I do NOT like sci-fi movies one bit and there was some serious convincing done by my family members to get me to see it. But I honestly LOVED it! I saw it in IMAX 3D which was absolutely incredible!! The effects were truly amazing, but the story and message of the movie was what really got to me. I highly recommend everyone go see it while it's in theaters. I'm sure it will be good when it's on DVD too, but you really do have to go get the full effect in the theater.

if you love special effects and underdog stories this will be up your alley. The detail and effort put into this movie was incredible . would go and see it again in a heart beat. I would definetly recommend it to any of my friends.

This was an awesome movie that I LOVED. I usually do not rate movies this highly but I loved the story line , the special effects and I established an emotional bond with many of the characters.

This movie is indescribable. It has immediately become my favorite movie and I can honestly say that it has superseded any other film I have ever watched. This movie is epic, gorgeous, and incredible. I reacted physically, with chills, at climaxes in the story. At the end of the movie I felt exhausted, physically and mentally, as if I had underwent a mental and physical ordeal. This movie is a very special phenomenon. I predict that it will be recognized as the superlative movie of our time.

I reallly realllllly enjoyed this movie! It was 2 hours and 40 minutes, yet time flew by. Whenever you have a long movie like that and you don't ask yourself "i wonder when this is gonna end, what time is it, how much is left" its a success! It kept my attention, graphics were great, original story, very creative, interesting, captivating. Definatly go see this movie....
you may think its a bit weird at first, but after a little bit it reels you in and for the next 2 hrs and 40 minutes you feel like your part of this magical fantasy world. :)

I am 58 years old, and thought I had pretty much seen everything, that is until I saw Avatar in 3D at an IMAX theater. I should say that I work as a television producer and director and always can tell where the effects are in a film. This is the first film I have ever seen that had me completely and totally immersed and buying everything as real. I felt I was ON Pandora with the characters.
Long story short, yeah, all the cliches...I laughed, I cried, but most of all after nearly three hours I didn't want to leave the theater. James Cameron is a genius and Avatar has leapfrogged The Godfather to become my all time favorite movie. Nuff said.

Attended with my teenage son and truly enjoyed the colors and efffects, especially in the first half.
Plot was tired parade of politically correct cliche after cliche--only female pilot is able to rise above military brainwashing and find humanitarian view on war; female warrior saves main character; disabled vet makes good; companies run by white males are evil and lacking vision; female mother earth is the true power; tribal emotions more profound than western learning... yawn yawn.
Very few older persons and very few females of any age that I spoke to enjoyed the plot.
More for young techies
But still fun to see and be part of this revival of improved 3D and some of the colors and scenes are breathtaking.

Fascinating. Did not attend 3-d yet found vidio breathtaking. Attention to detail was impecible. Basic story line was a bit weathered with just the right twists. 13 yr old grandson stated a bit long but well worth it, should be expected with Camerons history. Also commented re effects that were needed to be developed to accomplish finished product. Agreed we would see it again.

I'm not a fan of 3D (I already wear glasses and the 3D glasses don't work well for me, When they come up with clip on 3D glasses I'll try again), so this refers to the 2D version of the film. It's a fairly simple, predictable story told in spectacular fashion. I completely bought into the alien 'people' and creatures, and landscapes. Amazing film making!

I'd heard a lot about this movie being really good, but nothing could prepare me for what I saw. I'm a pro audio guy, and after doing this for a living for sometime, I can say without a doubt, Avatar is absolutely amazing on all fronts. The visual effects are second to none, the story is genius, the score and sound effects are tasteful, and unlike a lot of other movies of this type, I think it leaves you with a positive, and uplifting message. Its a bit long...but I don't know that I'd cut anything. Avatar is definately a step up for movies...one of the 5 best of all time for the SCI-FI front and I can't wait to see it again in 3D!

I had a friend state that he had no words for this movie. He urged his facebook pals to see it. It really surprised me when a journalist is at a lack for words. First off, go 3D, the extra dollars will make this an experience well worth the memory. I am not in the habit of seeing movies again, I will return to see Avatar, gladly. My descriptor? Beautiful.
The movie is thought provoking and touches you in places you may not want to go. Bravo. I loved it.

This movie was absolutely fabulous. It looked like a good movie in the ads; but, the actual thing blew me away!
I left the theater with tears in my eyes. It affected me greatly. The special effects are awesome and non-stop.

Special effects is the second name for this movie. The transition between the real and the computer generated images are just awesome and seamless. Very futuristic technology. Dragons were cheesy though ... looked more like over sized kites. All in all very good. Watch only in IMAX 3D if you can.
