All I have to say is I was blow away by the visuals and the obvious time that went into the delevopment of this movie. I've seen its three times and if given the chance would see it a forth, since its so good. I love the characters I delevoped real emotions for them and was happy when things went certain ways. The designers of the Viperwolves did a good job, they scared me shitless at first. And one another note I would of so done what Jake Sully did with touching everything. I would of definately been scolded for being like a child. Now only if we were this far in technology to travel places possibly like this in other galaxies.

My son's and I saw this movie on 01/08/10 and enjoyed it to the fullest. It was inspirational, spiritual, tearful, and it lets us know how greedy corporate is. Our nation is suffering the same fate.

Great movie that pits classic good vs. evil, with self reflection and growth inthe story line, Great acting and stunnig visuals. You have to get past the Hollywood political statements. Downside for familys is the swearing throughout the movie, but it is reated PG13.

Visually stunning, very expensive, good acting, plot built around "noble savage" theme, hi-tech Pocahontas, PC claptrap. Saw it at Cinerama and thought it was gonna be in 3-D. But, with a real world available, won't go back just for that. What else would you like to know?

In my never-to-be-humble opinion, Avatar was the best movie I've seen from the 2009 lot. Watching this film is an artistic experience of visual poetry, motion and color expressed on the screen. Delightfully entertaining, moving, thought-provoking. Truly a "must see" movie.

The story was familiar- something like a cross between Dances With Wolves and Rambo, but it's a good story line, so no reason to altar it. The action, acting CG, and special effects were all top notch. The beauty of the the scenery captured my daughter's heart, and I loved the flying scenes. I want to go see the 3D version now.

OMG! This is a must see!!! Spend the extra dough and watch it 3D in IMAX. Well worth the money. Intense plot, character's you'll fall in love with, action packed, great visual effects and so much more. Will definitely go back to theater to watch again! Enjoy!

The story is nothing special. If you have seen Dances With Wolves or The Last Samurai you will recognize it.
What makes this movie sing is the mind blowing effects and intense action sequences. i will be returning to the theatre just to see it again in 3D.
This is one not to miss on the BIG screen.

I took my 4 & 10yo boys to a 9pm showing. BOTH of them stayed awake the whole time, it was truly captivating! This movie was so well made and the detail and intricate scenes were awesome! MUST SEE!!!

There were about 200 people in the theater ... not one person talked on cell phone, texted, coughed, or left the theater for 2.5 straight hours ... we were all equally entranced with what we were watching ... and it was stellar !
PS: my husband wants his own red pterodactyl for xmas next year ...

The visual effects are incredible.
Unfortunately the characters are all one-dimensional and the plot is derivative and extremely predictable.
Recommendation is with the above caveats, and based on the fact that most people don't seem to care that the story/characters are so simple.

I didn't know what to expect; I thought it was Sci-Fi and it wasn't. It has everything: great story, action, romance, effects. It's for everyone! The story was spiritual, humbling, inspirational and beautiful. Don't let the fact that it has "warfare" discourage you; it's a significant part of the story, but with a positive outcome.....don't pass this one up. Cameron is a genius. If this doesn't take several Oscars, than the Academy doesn't know "brilliance"!

Don't listen to the smug haters. This is an epic movie from start to finish.
I enjoyed the storyline regardless if it was a bit predictable as some would say.
The effects are just jaw dropping. The most amazing CGI ever to hit the big screen for sure.
Amazing battles and sound.
Not your parents type of movie and doesn't try to be thank God.

May be the best futuristic fantasy film (epic) ever made. Great storyline with plausible realities and fantasies, and the 'somewhere' in between. The Avatar connect the literal two worlds where intent is not clearly marked good nor evil, and the laws of the universe will prevail. It's a virtual showcase of artistry and, in spite of it's long run-time, the pace is perfect. The film is thoughtful and masterful both in content and technique, and I was completely surprised. I had little interest in seeing the movie -- but am now recommending to everyone. Well done!

I can not say enough about this movie. Amazing in every way. Moving plot and nice character development. The creativity used in creating the world of Pandora was extrodanary. This was a terrific movie that the whole family enjoyed together, mostly because it offered something for everyone which is what we need in a movie from time to time. Yes, it was a little like Pocahontas and Dance w/Wolves, but the visuals were impressive, especially in 3D and that made the repetition of theme forgiveable. Some complained that it's too long, but I found the story compelling and the feature length appropriate. So long as you aren't a sterio-type sensitative senior government leader, you're good to go. In fact, you're likely to want to go twice.

The movie was beautifully done, with effects that were so good that it seemed realistic and believable. Unlike Stars Wars movies that were hokie and designed for kids, the storyline had deep political and historical perspectives. It intertwined the plight of the American Indians, the story of Pocahantas, our military efforts in the Middle East, and environmentalist passions into a work of art. My wife, who does not appreciate sci-fi at all, was very touched by the movie.

When I first saw the trailer to this film I thought to myself, "not interesting at all". I was wrong! This is one of the greatest films I've ever seen. The story is one we've seen before - young love torn apart by war. But its the sounds and the visuals that set this love story apart from all the rest. James Cameron has succeeded once again in transporting the viewer and submersing them into an environment where anything is possible. Like I said before, this is one of the greatest films I've ever seen. You’ll want to see this film again and again!!!

I was on the fence about this movie until i saw it. I loved the story line - good mix of action and romance - neither one overwhelmed the plot. The real winner of the movie, though, was the visual effects. Even if you don't see it in 3D (which you should) there is still plenty of eye candy to keep you fascinated. Great movie!
