I honestly was never a fan of the other movies-but this one managed to catch my attention- the effects were great, and the story was great... It started a little slow and I was expecting a bit more action but hey, that's what sequals are for right? Def a great summer movie even if u never saw/liked a star trek movie in the past!!!

Mostly Awesome. I am not a huge Trekkie. I've watched some parts of a few series, and some of the movies, but I do it for my husband. I know enough to make the movie really awesome, but not enough to make me see the inaccuracies.
My husband was pretty tough on it being fairly disappointed with the cheesy premiss. He also made the comment "the past shouldn't look more futuristic than the future."
The acting was great! All of them did SO WELL! I hope they win awards for this one. I was glued to the screen. Awesome movie!

Loved the movie. Casting is great. References to original frequent (Makes you want to re-watch to catch them all- could be a great drinking game !) Fun, exciting,great way to spend $10 and 2 hours. See it on a BIG screen.

I saw the new Trek movie with lots of Trekker fanboys and everyone LOVED IT. The story, acting and special effects were INCREDIBLE! While it is faithful to the original, it has a fresh approach and a few twists you won't expect.

One of the best things about this movie is simply that it gets people talking about Star Trek again, and not just my pointy eared geek friends, but everyone. The story is not well put together and there are a lot of holes you just have to let go by so that you can enjoy the action, which there is plenty. I wish the story was better but I think the time alteration idea is a great way to reboot the series, even if it is way too easy. Go see it and have fun, just go with an open mind. You’ll love Chris Pine as Kirk with his dead on characterization of what we all hope Kirk was like as a youngster. Scotty and McCoy are also stand outs - both very funny and immediately endearing. You won't be disappointed, but you won't be blown away. Enyoy!

From the beginning you get the feel it will be an epic story. One thing is for sure is that it surpasses other Trek movies by not feeling like a 2 hour episode. From the effects to the story it was awesome. For the first time there was no sound in space. And the new crew did an exceptional job, including Chris Pines who has several moments that you forget he isn't Shatner. But the real surprise was Karl Urban. When Karl Urban plays Bones you see it in every mannerism, voice and attitude. It is exceptional!

The wait was worth every moment because this movie was fantastic. The actors did every character justice and left me wanting more when it was over.

I was psyched for this movie for a long time, and it's always tough for a movie to actually live up to months of built-up of excitement and anticipation. Very solid all-around, good performances, good plot. Just seemed to me to lack a little weight, I supposed it's hard to avoid when good portions of the movie are spent on just re-introducing the characters. I think the sequel could actually be better, now that the character introduction stories are out of the way.

I found much enjoyment sitting in the theatre during this movie-going experience. I was involved with several different emotions portrayed by every character in this film. It was fun to see Nimoy as Spock Prime in this one. I would see it again soon, and encourage those who have not yet experienced it to go have a taste of the best futuristic movie i've seen since the original Planet of the Apes.

What a great experience. I used to watch the original series (in reruns) in the 70s and grew to like the characters. The actors did a great job incorporating the subtle (or not so subtle) mannerisms of the originals, while still making the characters their own. The action was phenomenal, the graphics and effects were stunning. I was literally biting my nails. This movie was AWESOME.

When J J Abrams gets involved in a project y ou can be sure it is going to be exciting ... this movie was awesome ... the characters, the plot, the action and special effects was excellent .. the surprises in the movie were great and the story line was plausible and well done ... Same character names but similarity stops there... it is set in a parrallel universe so it doesn't have to adhere to any of the star trek universe history.

This movie was great fun and an awesome ride. It was the fastest 2 hours I have spent in a long time. The special effects were top notch, but the best part was the fact that there actually was a STORY here, not just a vehicle to show off those special effects. Tip for future viewers...try to recognize the well-known people in really tiny parts. Bet you will be surprised at the ending credits!

Definitely a good time at the movies. All that you would want in a summer movie: explosions, action, comedy, some skin (though it is green). Nice homage to the original Star Trek with some of Bones' and Scotty's lines. Excellent CGI. Some plot issues - got a little turned around with the whole time travel deal. However, this is worth seeing on a big screen with a large crowd.

I am happy to say that this re-imagining of the crew's earliest days managed to rock my world. The casting was pitch perfect - you honestly believe you're watching the younger crew from TOS. No one does awful impersonations; the actors are very organic in their respective roles.You also don't need to be a Trekkie/Trekker by any stretch of the imagination to love this movie. It's extremely action packed and not difficult to follow (as in, you can go to the bathroom and won't be lost when you come back). The standouts in the cast were Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto who play Kirk and Spock respectively. By the end of the movie, I wanted it to keep going just so I could see these two characters interact with each other - they were that good.

Well i have always been a Star Trek fan, so i was going into the movie with a certain excitement, but also a little caution cause other star trek movies have been a big flop (insurrection anyone?). This movie is way beyond all the others, great story, great action, amazing special effects, great humor, and great drama. i recommend it to anyone even if you are not a ST fan(specially on IMAX) so "PUNCH IT" you'll know what that means when u see the movie.

I have to admit I wasn't really excited when my boyfriend wanted to go see this movie, not really a sci-fi or Star Trek fan. Of course I had watched the show and knew the characters, but that's about it. I loved this movie. It was enjoyable and exciting and I was able to enjoy even without out being a Star Trek fanatic. And my boyfriend, who loves Star Trak also loved the movie.
