From the getgo...nonstop action. Plenty of Kirk fight scenes and practically nonstop whitty comments and comedy. Entertaining from start to finish. Note: I'm not sure that this movie won't mess with the minds of true green-blooded Star Trek fans. I could be wrong...but just sayin'. I won't give away why...but I did see the movie with a true fan and they loved the overal movie but were a little conflicted over it's implications.

Who ever wrote this movie must not be a Star Trek fan. It feeled more like BSG or stargate then Star Trek. Not wanting to gave the movie awway but the time line and the warp effect look like something out of BSG.

This was a great film, one of the best Star Trek movies to date. The characters were well written and well played, the storyline was true to form and the little nods to the Trek Universe were perfectly written and orchestrated. In addition to being a thrill for even the most seasoned Trekkie, the movie has a stand-alone feel and is a great introduction to the Trek Universe for newbies...and the next generation of Trekkies (no pun intended). If you like action, intelligent humor, great acting and a great story, this is a must see!

Not bad overall. Casting was excellent (except Eric Bana is totally wasted). The plot could have used some tightening up. A decent summer type movie but not much more than that.

It's absolutely brilliant! It doesn't matter if you're 50 and can recite the entire Trek canon or 15 and "never heard of it." It's a fantastic movie. J.J. Abrams has totally made it possible for Star Trek to live long and prosper!

Very good movie. Great action sequences, there was never a dull moment in the movie. Everyone can enjoy it whether you were a fan of the original or not. The character interactions were right on par, they definitely nailed them. Star Trek is back!!

What made the original Star Trek movies so great was the chemistry in the cast. JJ Abrams did two things exceptionally well that made this movie pay homage to the Star Trek franchise: they worked Leonard Nimoy into the story and they cast an actor that can pardoy William Shatner. Abrams did not include the old spock in an unbelievable contrived fashion. Abrams allowed himself the changes and alterations he made in the star trek universe through spock's character, leaving no gaps, or by annoying loop holes. quinto does a great young spock, mannerisms and all, developing his character.
It's obvious Pine watched the orignal series to understand Kirk's character in full. He parodies Shatner's Kirk so well it's like watching a younger Shatner.

I'm not a Star Trek fan, however I really enjoyed this movie. I thought that the special effects were amazing and I also really enjoyed watching Spock! He did an amazing job portraying his character. This movie is definitely one to see in theaters.

JJ Abrams really knows how to put on a show. I've been a Trek fan my whole life and all the elements were there. Abrams and company took the entire mythology of an iconic series and not only inserted it into a fantastic framework, but they created an entirely new and fresh perspective. The only thing I could even begin to criticize is the ad campaign. "This isn't your father's Star Trek" goes without saying. You don't need to remind us of this. Since all that's over, there's nothing bad at all to report about this film. It was definitely Spock's movie, but Kirk gave it his all. What a great way to reignite love for one of the greatest Science Fiction works of our time!

Great! They decided to reinvent everything- ohhhh- alternate timeline and blow up Vulcan- HOKEY!!! Uhura and Spock? Not. C'mon people- instead of moving forward with the franchise, idiot Abrams (who does not have a creative bone in his body) has to "revisit" things. What's the matter JJ... can't come up with anything NEW, CREATIVE and GROUNDBREAKING for the Trek franchise?

Film is going to be one of the greatest blockbusters of the year and will easily out-profit all previous Trek films. Scope is epic – NEVER seen anything like this in Trek. Casting perfect. Bruce Greenwood as Pike amazing. NO role mis-cast Film needs to be seen multiple times – so much going on all the time. Constant moving, constant action. Nimoy’s role not a cameo; very, very poignant. New timeline brilliant: Allows real danger: Could not believe who dies, what gets destroyed. Special effects beyond belief. All set designs feel familiar – and new. Mr. Abrams, Mr. Orci, Mr. Kurtzman, and Mr. Nimoy: THANK YOU.

This was a very compelling version and continuation of the Star Trek saga. Bravo! It would be fun for anyone, but has many special ties to "reward" long-time fans. Can't wait to buy this one and watch it again and again! Perhaps there will be a new tv series!?!

Wow... What else can I say about this movie. The characters are all who we know and love. Even with a new cast it still has the Star Trek feel of old with an amazing story and graphics that are well out of this world. If you have been a fan since the beginning you won't be disappointed and for anyone else just get ready for a great movie.

J.J. Abrams did a fantastic job. It's obviously Star Trek, but with a new feel. He did a great job blending the classic while creating something new and exciting. It was brilliant casting, writing, producing, and the cinematography was unbelievable. All around awesome. My "Trekkie-dom" has been re-ignited and I'm anxious to see what is in store next. They left a whole universe open to explore for subsequent movies, which are sure to follow!

There wasn't a slow part of this movie. I have never really been in to Star Trek but went to see this movie with a few friends anyway. I laughed so much and was so entralled in the plot, gripping the chair a few times. This is a great story using probably every single catchphrase you can think of from the tv show.

Ok, so I can't have a completely unbiased oppinion,....ok, I can't have a somewhat unbiased oppinion either... but I LOVED it!! And the people I went with (definately NOT Trekkies) liked it a lot. I will be seeing it in theaters at least two more times!! Set phasers on stun!!!

Forget the old connotation of those two dreadful words "Star Trek"; this film creates a new connotation of excitement, adventure, and most importantly, heroics. From the start of the film's heart-rending sacrifice to its ending that makes you want to immediately follow along on the Enterprise's next adventure, this film makes you glad to know these flawed, herioc characters. Fantastic film. Go see it.

I liked the movie and enjoyed it very, very much. The anticipation was most worth it. This will be a day long remembered.. (oops.. wrong franchise) ;-)
I don't think anything will top Star Trek: The Wrath Of Kahn, though. That said: this new reincarnation of Trek is written for everyone and not just for the fans. So unless you have very strong feelings about time travel, are extremely nitpicky about all things Trek, and will only accept Shatner has Kirk - go see the movie already!

Fans of Trek will be missing something truly fun and engaging if they hold back from seeing this gem. Even more so than Wrath of Kahn or Voyage Home (prior movies #2 and #4), this is a Trek movie with plenty for fans but requires absolutely no prior Trek exposure to enjoy. It isn't perfect, and there are a few truly unexpected twists for prior fans, but the character work charms and overcomes the occasional convenient coincidence. A real must-see.

I was reluctant at first, being a Trekkie, about a reboot of the series, but I am so glad that I got over it because it was AWESOME! I loved the way the writers incorporated key character elements from the old series into the movie - because you know it wouldn't be Star Trek if Bones didn't inform someone that "He's a doctor... not a [fill in the blank]!" The actors were well casted and did a great job with the updated version of the favorites.
It definitely is worth the price of admission!!!

This movie was completely excellent and beyond amazing. They could have done without casting the Actress for Spock's mother. The guy that played Dr. McCoy was the best comparison to the original actors/actresses. "I love this ship, this is exciting." 4 Stars.. have to leave room for 5 (next movie?).

I have been a Star Trek fan for most of my life and this movie is just as awesome as the rest. The characters were great to follow and the new twists on the story lines make the movie even more interesting.
