Rarely watched the TV series and the past movies never left an impact on me, but I LOVED this new movie. I was very impressed with the story line, the acting, the CG didnt overwhelm everything else like most Sci-Fi flicks. Not much- if any- stupid cliche schmaltzy jokes, I was really impressed with the whole package.
TIP -- see it at the best theater possible, IMAX or best sound sytem, and with an excited crowd. Our preview screening had just a handful of people in a so-so theater and I kept wishing fo that total sensory experience.

This reinvention of the Star Trek franchise is most welcome and engaging. The characters offer new insights with a few well spaced nods to the past. Character development mixed with plenty of action ensure an entertaining movie experience.

Fantastic! Just loved it. Prepare to feel like you missed these characters, even if you weren't much a fan of the franchise before (which I wasn't). An engaging, affecting and effective origin story with time travel, getting the gang together and interracial buddy story elements, and more than a dash of Star Wars. Just great entertainment, and as a result the best summer blockbuster I've seen since possibly ever. Including Star Wars, so there.

This film will likely please any new viewer to the franchise and it will get top marks from most fans too. It's fun. It has emotional moments, humor, action and awesome FX.
Viewers of Trek will catch the familiar moments that have been incorporated into the new incarnation of the characters, and it's well done as far as I'm concerned.
There may be things to nitpick about. Few movies are anywhere close to perfect. However, this film makes it easy for me to forget about its flaws and concentrate on its greatness.

Great movie! Enjoyed seeing the characters who began it all. Their stories differ from the established series, but accounted for with the time travel creating an alternate time line. The Enterprise is packed with a young, inexperienced crew who are extremely talented and excel in their fields......allowing each character from the original series to really stand apart and bring a valuable addition to the crew. Gotta see! Gotta buy it! Won't be disappointed.

I am not a Star Trek fan, and only know the basics. I was able to watch this movie without any problems of understanding what was going on and it was very enjoyable! There were great action scenes, excellent dialog, and you didn't know what would happen next. I would definitely recommend this movie.

As someone who has been a fan since the original series was in first run and has seen every episode and movie of all the Star Tek incarnations I will say I was impressed and surprised. Star Trek has been given a new start(everything you knew before is now subject to change) and this has been done in a "believable" (for sci-fi) way. Confused? Go see the movie but again, forget everything you knew when you walk in to the theater. This not the Star Trek you have known and at the same time it is.

So i went in to this movie not expecting a great story line but it had a good story line. It was funny too. The people knew this when 7 year old kirk steal a car and is blasting the music.
Also note all you JJ Abrams fans. There is a Slusho reference in the bar scene.
Overall i would see this movie again.

I was never a star trek fan. yet, these new stars have made me a fan of their generation of movies to come. the chemistry was great along with the humor. the only thing i would liked to have seen is a little more dog fight with the ships.keep them coming!!!great job.

The new movie Star Trek is great fun. Although there was space fighting (& alot of fisticuffs) the movie was primarily about the people. We learned about the different individuals and how they all first got together. It was like any relationship you have, the longer you know someone, the more background and info you learn about them. So this was getting to know old friends.
However, it was not all about the people. The movie was exciting. It was thrilling in some parts. It was great fun. I heartily recommend it.
Even more interesting is that they actually found a way to completely begin the series again. We can now start from the beginning and have a whole set of brand new adventures. -- Brilliant!!

It was a wild ride, no doubt. Almost manic. Never a dull moment from the opening scene. If one opens one mind and heart to the proposed youth of our beloved, ionic characters and the actors who portray them, this movie can be loved even by original Trekkies. It is a decent story. Though after the rush and excitement of seeing our beloved characters and having Star Trek on the screen again resides, one realizes much of the story tends toward the cliche and done before. It is all action and none of the philosophy that made Star Trek so rich, but it is true to the urgency of youth. For an old time original Trekkie like me, it was a wonderful story once. I hope the sequel will have a more intellectual depth mixed into the action.

As someone who grew up only appreciating the sound trak I used this opportunity to catch up on the story. Not a genuine Trekkie, but I thought the characters were really well done and according to the Trekkie I watched it with, they evoked the characterizations of the originals very well. I loved the adventures of Kirk as a kid and then as an adult. Nice interplay between Spock, Old Spock and Kirk, and the touches of humor in their rivalry. It was a pretty imaginative journey and special effects especially in conjunction with Scotty. I was wondering if the voiceover at the end credits and soundtrack was that of William Shattner after all. That would be a cool cameo surprise after his outrage at being "excluded."

I was impressed with the risks they took, and the level of action that never let up yet didn't seem over-bearing. Everyone was on their A game on the whole crew: directing, writing, camera, actors, music, editing, and on and on.
This movie will make millions if not a billion worldwide and spawn at LEAST 2 more movies.

I went to see this movie with low expectations.
(due to the replacement of all my favorite characters)
but found this movie to be the best trek i have ever seen the nostalgia level was off the hook with all the dead spot on authentic portrayals of the original casts.
Action was unbelievable,story line could have been better but loved the twists.
I cant wait to take another trip with the new cast & crew of the STARSHIP ENTERPRISE!!

I was originally worried about this film. I was MORE worried when I saw the trailer. I worried about how director (J.J. Abrams, of "LOST" fame) would treat a franchise that he openly admitted knowing little about.
All of my fears were unfounded. This movie was FANTASTIC.
The action and the cinematics make up for tiny tiny plot holes, with some of the grandest shots of ships in space that I've seen in a while. The sound is superb, and the music is excellent and really ties things together well.
With Leonard Nimoy bridging the gap between old and new, this film works very well and was an absolute joy to see.

It was an absolute treat to watch JJ Abrams' Star Trek!! I loved everything about this movie. I loved the awesome visual effects that were grand and jaw-dropping, but not over-the-top and distracting from the overall story. I loved the great sound design and musical score. The casting was great! All the characters were believable and entertaining. The writing and story were excellent, and the movie left me wanting to see more...right away.
Thanks to JJ and his creative team! I hope to see more and be similarly impressed. You may have single-handedly saved the franchise. I couldn't have been happier. It's time for the next generation of Star Trek fans to emerge and boldly go!

I have to admit that I went into this film with mixed feelings... excitement... doubt... hope... and extreme anxiety. There was a great deal riding on the success of this film for Star Trek fans.
I spent most of the next two hours with a huge smile on my face. I laughed and nodded and enjoyed every minute. The film appeals to average theatergoers and die-hard fans alike. It feels like Star Trek and plays like an action/comedy/adventure blockbuster. It felt to me like an old, dear friend was coming home.
I have very little doubt that this movie will become the most successful Star Trek film to date... and maybe one of the biggest movies of the year!
STAR TREK is BACK in a BIG way!
SEE THIS FILM! Then see it again!

I really loved the way all the characters were developed, and their personalities were very truthful to the original series.
That being said, I thought the main plot was kind of stupid. The actor's were so great, though (loved Simon Pegg as Scotty) that it overcame the plot oddities.

One word, WOW!!! J.j. Abrahms has resurrected one of the ultimate classics. How Bad Robot was able to keep under wraps some of the suprises and twist in this film is beyond me. For those who have not seen it, I will not spoil it for you here. This is one of the MUST SEE's for the movie year.

Oh my god dude this film shot out of the gate like a demon from the underworld and anyone strapped to it were about to experience something wonderfull. I mean there was nothing that didn't work in this film nothing and I am so lookin forward to Star Trek II though.
