The movie was great ! They really managed to tie in the old character quirks in and it was fun ! I don't want to give anything away, but there was a couple of things that didn't sit well with me - one was a hint of a budding relationship that never existed - in my observation - among the crew members of the original cast. Spock ?! Suprise !
If you're in the 1% of folks that Hate Star Trek - you're probably not reading this - and might not appreciate the movie. However, there is enough action and other character embellishments that even you may find the movie quite interesting ! Otherwise, You won't regret seeing this movie on the Big Screen !!!

This is a great movie. I love Star Trek, from the Original to Enterprise, and this included.
It is a departure from what is "known", however, they do let you know that.

Best movie I have seen in a few years. The casting was spot-on. The actors accurately captured the traditional mannerisms and interactions of the original Star Trek. The story line was exceptional and the action was just right!

I can't think of a movie in at least that long that I have enjoyed so much and been so immersed in. This is the most polished movie to reach the screen in recent years. Everything fit, the sound was fantastic, the CGI was absolutely phenomenal, the acting far surpassed my expectations, the dialogue was witty and well done. Overall this movie not only surpassed my expectations but is now on my top 5 list of all times. I cannot recommend highly enough that you go see this movie. I saw it in IMAX and it was the first time I have been so immersed in a movie that I forgot at times I was watching a movie. No finer thing could be said for entertainment in my opinion. My hat is off to JJ Abrams and all involved with the creation of a masterpiece.

This movie was unbelievable. Zachary Quinto as Spock just blew this movie away. I really can't think of any negatives other than I hope the next movie in this series comes out really soon. One of the best movies that I've seen in years.

I am and always will be a Star Wars fan, But Star Trek just made me a bif ol fan. This movie was beond what I was expecting. Best Star Trek Film to date. Best movie of the year so far.
This was a great watch from start to finish. There was not one single made momment in this 2hr 6min film. JJ Abrams did a fantastic job. I can not tell how much I loved this movie. Other then I am going to go see it again.

Really well done. Start to finish it was well directed, well acted, well written, great and clean special effects. It's what a great summer film should be. Were there issues? Sure - but they don't detract from the overall enjoyment. I thought they did a fantastic job both pulling in all the right elements from the Star Trek mythology and juicing it up with new ideas and blood. Go check it out - a heck of a good time.

I love all the Star Treks but I have to say this is the best one in a long time. The series ran out of steam, now it has no lofe and new excitement. As imaginative and innovative as Roddenberry would have done. I'm sure he's pleased, wherever he is. Hope there will be more....

The best Trek movie I have seen. The movie stayed true to everything that The Original Series was all about, optimism for the future. I think this will appeal to all audiences as well as keep the Trekkies like myself satisfied with everything. Over all it was a fresh look for Star Trek to appeal to the modern audience. This is the best reboot of a series that I have seen. Roddenberry would be proud of what Abrams and his team have done with the franchise thus far. This movie embodies everything he wanted Star Trek to be and it fulfills his wish of someone else re-inventing Trek and making it bigger and better. Star Trek is this summer's Iron Man, a must see for anyone who wants a heart pounding adventure.

I have been a Trekkie since the original series. My wife and I were amazed at what a fantastic job was done in casting actors for these parts. They did an amazing job in emulating the original cast. (Especially McCoy) Action packed, lots of laughs, great story line, truly amazing sound effects. I will pay to see it again. Thank you JJ Abrams for taking full advantage or modern film technology yet creating the classic Star Trek look and feel.

My dad was a HUGE fan of Star Trek, so I have watched Star trek since i was born in 1980. i have seen most the TV shows, movies, and the new generations. i am not a hard core trekkie, but still a trekkie. i loved this movie and love how there will be more. i love how they used their imagination so the sequels to come won't contradict the old movies. Wish my dad was here to have seen this.

I was so pleased with this movie! Being a Trekkie for as long as I can remember I was hesitant when I first heard about it thinking it would stray from the essence of the show and characters. I was WRONG! This movie was action packed and stayed true to the characters. My 10 yr old who refuses to watch Star Trek with me loved it as well and now wants to watch all the other Star Trek movies. This is a great movie for anyone who is not familiar with the Star Trek franchise. BEAUTIFUL!!

As a fan faithful to the old crew, I was worried this was gonna suck but oh how I was wrong! This bunch is very well cast and brings their own flavor to their respective characters while still giving you nods to remind you what they're famous for. The only place the movie fell down for me was in the score. But it doesn't detract from the experience. The effects are off the charts for a Star Trek movie with one particular sequence of the Enterprise coming out with guns blazing that will have you on the edge of your seat! Abrams captures that sense of wonder when Bones and Kirk are approaching the Enterprise by doing the slow flyby, ala Wrath of Khan, when Kirk's shuttle arrives at Enterprise in Spacedock. Nice!

This was one of the movies that HAD to be made. It never deviated from the original time line,which happened in the T.V. series with Scott Bakula..which I NEVER watched. The technology was little upgraded than it should be but can be overlooked as they downplayed it. Marvelous acting especially Spock,Bones,Jim,Ohura. I can only WISH for another series starring these people.

JJ Abrams and the crew have shot a tightly paced and wonderfully fun action/adventure movie.
Is it star Trek? Yes it is. I was worried going in that I was not going to enjoy it, or they were going to change too much. But they didn't. the essence of what made the show is still in the movie. The relationships, the Ships, the space battles, the philosophy of the future. And at it's heart Star trek was a western in Space. This is the same western in space, but it's more Tombstone, and less High Noon.
in short, are you a Star Trek Fan? See it. Are you a Science Fiction Fan? See it. Are you a fan of good movies? Go see it, right now.

I started watching Star Trek when I was 11 years old in 1965. I was afraid this movie might ruin the theme of the series, but it is awesome! I loved it and my 17 year old son loved it! They've kept the fun and the feel of the original while opening up an entirely new story line for the future! Live Long and Prosper! AND long live (?) the guys in the red shirts!!!

My son begged until I took him to the Thursday midnight screening but now I am so glad we went. While I am not a real fan I found this movie amazing. It grabs you hard in the opening and not a single scene was wasted the entire movie. In the end I can see myself going back to the theater to see this movie again and that never happens for me.

I have cried at 4 movies in my whole life, all were at the culmination of most of the movie with the conclusion of an emotional zenith.
I cried at the 15 minute mark. The creators were excellent at making us care about the characters.
The acting was great, the action was amazing, the directing and writing were superb. I have nothing bad to say about this movie.
