But not because of the CG special effects. It's the nostalgia that I liked, getting to know the original Star Trek crew better. The actors did a super job portraying the younger crew. The story was interesting, the acting was great and yes, the special effects were awesome. This is one of those must-see-on-the-big-screen films!

A whole new beginning for Star Trek and new fans to the story. My son never knew the original series, but is now a fan thru this movie. Some twists on the old story line make it interesting for old dogs like me. Should be the start of future movies. Kirk, Spock and the rest of the old gang were great.

I thought the story line was a bit weak, relying too much on good looking characters, and not enough on the script. I kept waiting for the movie to get better, then I noticed there was only 20 minutes left till it ended-and I still hadn't been "wowed" like I had hoped to be. I actually think most of the previous Star Trek movies were better than this one. (to varying degrees) You should see it so you can decide for yourself.

Go see this movie! I'm not giving away anything by saying there's a ton of sci-fi action and great story line. Combined to make this a wonderful film. It's very complimentary to the original TV series without overdoing it. JJ Abrams's genius didn't stop with the great show Lost :-) My favorites are Kirk, Spock and Uhura, but the entire cast is fantastic and make this movie worth the $$$$. Wonderful beginning to the summer movie season. Live long and prosper!

This movie exceeded my expectations! This is definitely a MUST SEE! If you weren't a fan before this movie you will become one! I can see a whole "new generation" of trekkies coming out of this movie. I'll be looking forward to a (or many more) sequels and seeing how this group of actors evolve into their parts! Silly me only paid half attention to all the ads for this movie. It looked like a spoof and, despite being a Star Trek fan, I wasn't interested at all in going. But my husband wanted to see it so I trailed along. And was I glad I did! It was fantastic! I know it's beginning to sound monotonous after reading all these reviews...but it was the best movie I've seen in a long time! Can't wait for sequels!!

As a lifelong Star Trek fan I was thrilled with this film. Didn't think JJ could pull it off, a film that pleases both fans like me and newcomers as well but he did. This injected the new blood into the frnachise that has been needed for a long time.

I went into this movie thinking I would probably be dissappointed. I grew up with Star Trek and my thoughts were how could I like a movie that William Shatner wasn't in as James T Kirk. I was wrong I loved this new version! It has everything the old series had and even more. I thought Karl Urban did an excellent job at playing Dr McCoy(Bones). Chris Pine was an awesome Captain Kirk. The only thing that would have made the movie perfect to me was if they somehow could have tied William Shatner ,as Captain Kirk, back I really liked,possibly even loved this movie. Kudos to the writers,directors and actors on this one.

For those who know the history of Star Trek you will really appreciate the excellent selection of actors to play the main charcters. They were dead on. High action, fast paced like the series 24, great visual effects, great music and it certainly left you wanting more. I'm not a big fan of Start Trek but this is the best movie I've seen in a long time.

I took my wife to see this and it was her first time ever watching a Star Trek episode or movie. She walked in with a very negative attitude and low expectations and she walked out satisfied. Myself as a Star Trek fan of 20 years, I loved it. I have to say this movie was not only the best Star Trek movie yet, but the best movie I have seen in a long time. Great acting, story and special effects. I recommend this movie to anyone, but especially to Star Trek fans.

...but I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.
My goodness, Zoe Saldana is friggin gorgeous. The scenes were played out wonderfully. The story line was easy to follow. The acting wasn't top notch, but it was fairly decent. It obviously had a youthful exuberence about it considering it was based on the beginnings of Star Trek.... there just really isn't a whole lot of really bad things to note about this movie.
Oh, and did I mention that Zoe Saldana is friggin gorgeous? Cuz she is.......

I don't know if I'm a "die hard" Trekkie but I've been watching since the re-runs of the original series when I was growing up. There's much to like in this movie, in that they stayed true to the characters, from Kirk's brashness and arrogance, despite which he seems to do the right thing more often than not, to Bones' uncharacteristic fear in the face of danger for someone traveling on a starship, and Spock's unflinching logic (except for that schoolyard episode). The plot device of time travel proved itself once again, this time allowing things to turn out just a bit differently and keep us in suspense as to how things would turn out in this alternate reality. Overall I definitely recommend the movie for Trekkies and non-Trekkies alike.

My husband took me to see this movie. I'd been wanting to see it for awhile. It is my fave movie of all time. I'm going to buy it when it comes out for me and others. EVERYTHING IS GREAT IN STAR TREK. GO SEE IT IN THE THEATRE. Plus hubby don't like the other Star Treks but he thought this was awesome.

I really loved this movie. Everything about it was amazing. The cast decision was a great one. After watching it I can't imagine anyone else playing those roles. Bones was awesome, Scotty was hilarious, and Spock and Kirk were extremely hot!!!!
