I've been a Trekkie since I was a kid. Playing members of the Enterprise crew in the backyard.... I have seen every series, every movie and read more books than I can count.
Now I'm not a blind fan. I know when something sucks - Trek 5, the Motion Picture and Generations - come to mind.
But Star Trek did not suck. It was practically perfect in every way to quote Mary Poppins. I will be watching this movie a few more times in the theatre, and can't wait o own it on DVD. I'm listening to the soundtrack right now.

I have been a long time Star Trek fan and this was a great relaunch of the franchise! The visuals were awesome! The story just as great! The Enterprise is amazing! So much better than the original! Its a great new Trek for a new audience! The characters were spot on! This movie was better than Iron Man and The Dark Knight which makes it the greatest movie EVER! If you are a trek fan or not you will love this movie!

This movie is fantastic! There are so many references to the original 60s sitcom, which, to a hardcore Trekkie like me, made the movie even better. I saw it with a group of Trekkies and non-Trekkies, all of whom loved it! There is a nice balance between Action, Adventure and Comedy! This is a must-see Summer Blockbuster!

This is a liberated Trek that is able to pull the fruits of its choosing from the tree while not being tethered to canon. It's exhilerating, innovative, and good-looking. It's a thrill ride with a heart. It's akin to peeling through your childhood neighborhood in a Mustang when you've previously only seen the view from your bicycle. It feels familiar, but it's a whole lot faster.
The film has its flaws, but by the end I was reminded of most superhero origin movies: this was a fun adventure, but it was mostly foreplay, the set up, for what could come. It begs to be continued, and I was left thinking, "Okay, that was cool. Now where shall we go?"
Just as all good Trek movies have ended.

Action, humor, and the character interaction; they were all there, and all great!
Long-time fans of Trek will appreciate the updated look and feel from the Original series, but may take issue with some of the changes; if you're a long-time fan, accept that this movie is not a clone of the classic series, but instead a re-imagining.
New fans will be treated to a futuristic adventure without being bogged down by excessive techno-babble.
The ship and special effects are beautiful, the cast was well chosen, and the story was clever. Something about the tone of the movie left me feeling like this wasn't quite Star Trek.
Overall, I enjoyed this film and I definitely want to see a sequel!

Star Trek was everything I wanted the movie to be.
The characters were true to the original series that I grew up loving, the action was intense and amazing, the editing wasn't as heavy handed as I was worried about, and at the end, I sat there thinking, "Oh my god, that was awesome."
I cannot wait to see it again.

I enjoyed how they had fun at James Kirk's espense througout the movie. I loved that Leonard Nemoy had a small part. The special effects are the best ever.
Best of all, the way they used time travel to start an alterate timeline (sort of like a parallel universe) allows them to go in brand new dirrections going forward with sequels.
I am glad the movie franchise is back!

Great acting, directing, deep characters, intriguing story, well written screen play, humorous but not in the way that starwars was in that it made you call to mind the fact that you were watching a movie the cast did a good job of channeling the original characters from the old movies but also used enough interpretation so the characters weren't just rehashed, this has been a run on sentence.

Star Trek was amazing. For those who grew up watching it, you're in for a real treat...so many great lines that remind you of the old shows, and so many little inside jokes and plots that bring it all back. All the actors they picked for it did a brilliant job in it and appearances of other amazing actor(s) was key to the enjoyment of the film. I was grinning like a kid the entire movie! Can't wait for the next one! But it'll be hard to beat how awesome this one was. I brought a friend who had never seen a single Star Trek episode of any kind and she loved the movie as well, so it is a movie for anybody.

I loved watching Trek movies growing up-and wasn't sure what to expect, but this was a lot of fun. Kept us on the edge of our seats-and had us talking about it all the way home. Great ! I loved it and the 20 somethings I was with did, too!

This was the greatest attempt at bringing back Star Trek. This is true to Gene Roddenberry's dream.
This is not even a remake, it's a continuation,
I'm hoping it's the beginning of a new legacy in Star Trek.
For true Star Trek fans, this is outstanding work. For non-Trekkies, this movie stands out for new fans of all ages.

This movie has got to be the dumbest and worse, low brow Star Trek movie that has EVER been made. To Be clear, this makes Insurrection look like a 5star!
This movie is slightly amusing, but all the fake looking non canon stuff, including Romulans that look and act more like Klingons, fake looking ships, horrible writing, WTF??
I want my money back and then I want to pay me from having to suffer the embarrassment. This is clearly a movie for semi-Trekkies, but not hard core Trekkers.

I rarely go out to movies (instead buying, netflixing etc)...ESPECIALLY @ midnight. They have to be big screen worthy, & this one certainly was. I went w/ a group of 'Trekkies' and by movies end...was certifiably one of them. Definitely a must see AGAIN for me!

This movie was great! The special effects, sets were more realistic then in any movie. It seemed more "real". They really captured the comradere they had on the original series. They had the nods to what you would expect. I won't spoil them for you. I was just a casual fan of Star Trek but this movie can stand on its own!

Re-inventing the franchise would be difficult to say the least. Having followed the series since the 1960's, I can say for certain now..."Live Long and Prosper". The new story line, new time line, background information, and never ending action with a solid story makes this film a true collectors edition. Seeing it again soon.

Star Trek was excellent across all aspects. Excellent acting, Great cinematography, and a good story to start with. I had maybe 2 areas that were an issue, and that's only when I really searched.
This is a great movie and was an excellent reboot of the franchise, by not only creating its own timelines based on 'new' events, but by having ripples all over. For trekkies I really recommend listening to the side conversations and other events that will affect the timeline! My wife loved it and she doesn't care for Sci-Fi much at all, let alone Trek!

Everybody's been tricked. This was NOT good. Unimaginative story, riddled with coincidence. The movie wasn't smart. The LAZY person's Star Trek. Almost NOTHING of what Star Trek is all about. Little moral challenges, philosophy, character building, emotional resonance, etc. Just fluff. Barely thought provoking. Action is ok but you need all the other stuff or else WHAT'S THE POINT? It looked cheep too. The only compelling aspect of the movie was the actor who played Chekov.

Awesome movie! Since the first TV series in the late 60's, during the Vietnam war and the counter culture days, this series has always packed a punch with satisfying entertainment, visions of our future, and morals to live by.
In this film, I see a rebirth of those things at a time when humanity needs hope for its future as we strive to save our own planet, and move out into space, despite our own petty differences.
The cast is near-perfect for this movie. All are young and set up for future Star Trek movie sequels. We'll be seeing many more to come, I'm sure. Warp speed, Mr. Sulu!

Fun ride. Definite new approach to the Star Trek to Saga . . . Overall, great casting choices.
Being a lifelong Star Trek fan, the only downside was using industrial plants to represent the Star Fleet engineering spaces of the ships. And, what was the whole thing with the water turbine !?
Movie captures the characterizations I grew up loving between the cast. Lastly, I want Sulu's (John Cho) folding sword, even more than a functioning light saber.

First off this was a great movie on the visual and action packed side, with a bit of a gratuitous Star Wars scene (think creatures). Anyway, after first leaving the theatre I felt like a piece of my Star Trek history had been surgically removed, but at second glance today, I feel this movie opened up a whole new direction for Star Trek. The acting was superb. The personality and character representation were dead on with this new cast. I guess somewhere in my purist way I hope for a reconnection to the Original, TNG, DS9, Voyager but can see how (without spoiling the ending) that there's lots to come in a good way. GO SEE THIS MOVIE whether you are a die hard or never watched before. This movie has something for everyone.

This movie is a new spin on the 1966 classic television series, Star Trek and shows how it all began. Hopefully, the story will continue by creating more Star Trek movies like this one. 1966 was a long time ago; however, the connection to the original series was good. I look forward to seeing more in the future and perhaps next time they will include the original James T. Kirk, William Shatner, or has he played in so many other TV series since the original Star Trek series that we have forgotten who he once was?

As a longtime Trek fan, I was stunned with this movie. It made me laugh, it made me cry. Honestly, I think I experience the whole range of human emotions during the 2 hours and 6 minutes.
