INNOVATION? check

From the opening scene this movie gets your attention, this is not the Star Trek i know. It took a while to get used to the cast, & for the first little while i wasn't sure if the wait had been worth it, but this franchise has a new face and it's a bit darker. It's Dark Trek.

There's a word for what JJ did with this movie - Innovation. I won't discuss the plot, but there are some things he did with this movie that will allow for them to start a new path with the next sequel that doesn't need 2 stick 2 the series history.

Like all others before, there is one consistent theme – no bathroom.

I'm waiting for the sequel to this prequel. I hope JJ and the team start the script for the 2nd one this year.

I must admit. I just didn't see it coming. I hoped. I prayed. But I just didn't expect this movie to be this good. Everything from the acting to the costumes to the cinematography was superb. In the world of star trek movies this one is the gem.

There's so little about this film that I can share without spoiling the experience that all I can say is go see this movie. It's more than worth your 2 hours.

Even if you aren't a star trek fan, go see this movie. It's just that good.

Star Trek

This is by far the best Star Trek movie that has come out in a very long time. I was not sure what to expect when going into the movie, weither it was be a good movie or a great one. I was extremely surprised though with how much detail was but into the film. All the characters were extremely well put together and had great actors playing them. I love the little twists and slight details were not over looked and the follow through that made this movie the best movie I have seen in the past few years.

Great Performances and Action

I have always been a fan of the original Star Trek Television series, and the characters that Gene Roddenberry created ,so you can imagine how excited I was to see a prequel that included all of the original characters.

It was great to see a youthful looking cast , (sorry SPOCK), and the realism of the sets were nothing short of spectacular.

I've obviously never seen a black hole created before and this movie allowed me to experience it two different ways. I thought there were also some great special effects and fight sequences.

I look forward to seeing it again.

A Beautiful Rebirth!

I can only say... "WOW!" I got goosebumps about 8 times. JJ Abrams and Co. have brought back Trek in a way I never expected.

It was by far one of the more comedic Treks. As much as I laughed, I was saying "Whoa... That was deep.." The way the emotion shifted throughout the film keeps your full attention. The film is very fast and never drags or gets boring. It's a film you want to go see again to pick up on things you missed the first time!

I applaud Paramount, Abrams, Orci and Kurtzman, and the entire cast for the one Star Trek movie I have been waiting for. Roddenberry would have been proud!!

Trekkie or not...go see it

I am by no means a Trekkie...but I really enjoyed this movie. Good to see the crew of the Enterprise as cadets in the academy and how they become a team. Loved seeing Leonard Nemoy! and seeing the characteristics of the crew as we know them from the TV series and the movies. One Booo for me....Wynona Ryder...BOOOO! Go see and you'll know what I mean!

Beyond Words

The movie was near-perfection. The graphics were beautiful, the characters were hilarious and competent, and that first scene was enough to make a Vulcan cry.
The alternate reality plot was realistic and new, however, since no one fixed it, I wonder how or if they'll get back on the proper time-stream.

This was one of the best Star Trek movies! It puts you through every emotion. I was happy, sad, excited. A must see for all Star Trek fans. Your gonna get the die-hards that will say stuff like- the ship wasn't the way it should have been, or stuff like that- but this movie was great! I will be seeing it again tomorrow :D

Lots of Fun with a Twist

I really wanted this movie to be great but was still worried that it wouldn't meet my expectations. Well, let me tell you, this was awesome! I really think it's the best Star Trek movie by far. The acting was great. I think they did a wonderful job playing characters we're all so familiar with. I plan on seeing it again!

The Rebirth

I've been a trekkie for most of my life, and I agree with what another review said: It was a little difficult knowing that all things Star Trek previous will happen differently as a result.

Still, it was a great segue way to opening some new adventures for the original crew.

The best word I can think of is that the Star Trek franchise was "mainstreamed" a little bit, but quite frankly, it was necessary. If anything, it made it more human. I like that they had more inter-personal relationships between the crew (the original crew from the 60's, as attached as we all were, were kind of kept in a box, where these characters were more relatable).

I'm very interested to see where this will lead.

The last Trek movie I really dug was First Contact back in 1996. This new one should go to any Trekkie/Trekker's Top Three.

It's also a film that non-fans - or those who've been out in the cold - will get a good kick out of. Each of the cast does a really good job of standing out to you, and the storyline doesn't feel hollow or contrived.

Bottom line: Believe the comparison to Iron Man because, like comic fans who went in weary of yet another sub-par comic book adaptation, you're going to be very pleasantly surprised.

Well first off i am not a big star trek fan and didnt really watch the tv show but the movie was fantastic. I loved it! It had alot of action and a perfect blend of comedy. And to people who are afraid to go to the movie because they wont understand what is going on or afraid of complex language ...dont be afraid you dont need to know anything about star trek to enjoy this movie

Star Trek Is Back!

The movie was packed with action and edge of your seat thrills. More importantly than that, it was great seeing our first favorites in a whole new way. The new actors merged mannerisms of the original actors, in a way that only fans would recognize. We get the feeling of camaraderie, meeting old friends again, like we have never been apart. But for those that were not fans of the original, the mannerisms will still be a hit for the humor alone.

Ok Bring on the Sequels

For the new wannabe Trekkies and most of the "I've seen the whole series TV and Movie" Trekkies this was definately a 5 outta 5 flick. For the "HARD CORE" fans I think you'll find it disappointing. The Romulans were a little far fetched IMO. The power plant in the ships were also a little hmmm unbelieveable and throwing Kirk on a desolate planet?! Well I was thinking of Jack Sparrow and I was waiting for Kirk to find some Space Turtles to find his way back to Enterprise. The movie is definately for the new age of movie goers who look for non stop action and not so much plot or character development. Go see it...enjoy it and for the Hard Core well you know you want to watch it just to form your own opinions anyway.

Been Waiting For This...

I've always considered myself an "undercover Trekker." I can get lost in the mythology, but I never wore it on my sleeve...I've never even been to a convention.

My affinity has always been for the characters from the Original Series, and it's good to have them back. As a long time fan, I had some worries that I'd have trouble accepting these new versions, but my lack thereof was probably the most pleasant surprise of the whole movie.

J.J. Abrams and Co. did an outstanding job of creating an origin story for those characters, and doing it in a movie that pays homage to what came before, but with an eye toward what's possible in the future.

If you're a Trekker, go see it. If you're not, go see it. You won't be sorry.

This is the best Star Trek movie yet. It is the movie that answers so many questions of the origins of everything that established the original series as a character-based science fiction epic. It also raises new questions that die hard Star Trek fans will want answered in future sequels. This movie also lays the foundation for a possible revamp of the original series with these remarkable actors playing the main roles. OMG! I have been watching Star Trek reruns since I was a kid and this movie surpassed all expectations! The special effects were fantastic and really made the story come alive even when the effects were a little over the top at times.
The movie still maintained some cheesiness but that was to be expected.

Favorite line in the movie: "$@**&t Jim, I 'm a doctor not a physicist!"

This movie is full of nods to the fans (at the expense of those in red shirts, of course) but still so much fun I'm pretty sure it would be a great intro to Star Trek for anyone. I haven't had this much fun at the movies since Iron Man.

Amazing how they did the plot line and shook up what has come before and made it a plausible movie as not to ruin what has come before. I will be seeing this again on the big screen. I recommend reading the graphic comic before seeing as it explains the villains motives.
