This was the most fun I've had at a movie in a long time. I'm not a huge Star Trek fan, but I have seen most of the shows from the original series (via reruns). I was completely impressed with how well these young actors conveyed the personalities of not only the characters they were playing, but also of the actors that made the characters famous in the first place. You really believed that you were watching Bones, Spock and Kirk as young men! It was fun, fun fun! I'm ready for the next one!

This movie makes me look forward to others in the Star Treck saga. Not only was it faithful to the original TV series, it piqued my interest to find out what all the other backstories will be on the other characters and more of the backstories of the main characters. Doo Wahh!!!

Wow! I applaud the writing and directing on this film for staying so true to the old story lines. That aside the movie stands alone for anyone who didn't grow up with Kirk and Spock and their subtle life lessons. The actor playing James Tiberius Kirk did an AMAZING job studying Shatner's quirks, body language, and intonations. I think he even must have studied Denny Crane's character from Boston Legal for that renegade no holds barred flirtatious attitude. Boomers, don't miss this film!

This movie was a great action flick in its own right, but it also eluded to things from the original TV series. These characters were energetic, impulsive young-adult versions of the adults they became in the Star Trek TV series. Also, I expected lots of explosions, womanizing, and fighting, but instead I found the storyline to be fast moving and action packed. Great, great movie experience!

I loved it. The story weaves the early years of the Star Trek crew and does it in excellent story telling fashion. The action is like new love, thrilling, scary and stimulating all at the same time.

This movie was definitely my favorite Sci-Fi movie and it was probably the best one ever also. I can't even put it into a sentence how amazing this movie was. All I can say is, see it. Also Spock in this movie played by C. Quinto, was amazing. He WAS Spock. I swear. Anyway definately a 4 out of 4 star movie.

J.J. Brams did with Gene Roddenberry tried but could not do. While I have always enjoyed Start Treks television programs and their movies they could not quite pull off a movie that was as entertaining as this one. The characterization stayed true to the series. I also noted that certain facial expressions mimicked the original characters.

And those two words would be "contrived" and "explosions." The acting was great but I am oh sick and tired of movies where the main star is explosions. I should have known better, I suppose. If I could get those 2+ hours of my life back they would have been much better spent watching some of the original TV series with its low budget sets and effects. As I recall they at least had thought provoking story lines.
The reason I'm giving it a rating as high as two stars is that I really enjoyed how the actors portrayed Spock, Uhura, McCoy, Sulu, Chekhov and Scotty.

I had a lot of hesitations going into this film. First, J.J. Abrahams has not impressed me much. He completely ruined the Mission Impossible franchise with one of the worst films ever made. Luckily his story telling style from that abominable excuse for a film did not carry over into this film. The story was great, the cast was perfect. The guy playing a young Bones nailed it dead on and stole the show in my opinion. The special effects were flawless! My only gripe was the use of time travel once again to fill in a plot. It is too often too easy of an out for writers to finish a story. But all in all, the film was great and I hope they continue with some sequals.

I have watched (original) Star Trek TV series since I was a young child. Of course, my sister, too. I watched Star Trek movie series (1979-2002), Star Trek: Next Generations, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise. This year, Star Trek is the excellent remarkable movie with new young Star Trek actors/actresses who "replaced" the original Star Trek characters, but Leonard Nimoy was back to play 130-year-old Spock . Zachary Qunito played young perfect Spock. The new "classic" Star Trek uniforms looks very good. Star Trek technology looks futuristic cool. Action, romance, comedy, suspense, and science fiction are mixed in one movie. I hope I will see a next Star Trek sequel movie soon.

FANTASTIC MOVIE!!! Whether you were into Star Trek before or not, it kept you guessing and interested. Great twist to allow whole new spin off episodes without having to worry about crossing over old territory. Recommend you see this on the big screen and not wait for DVD. Fast paced, special effects are outstanding.
Story is interesting because of the blending of past characters, also the appearance of "old" Spock again. Clever way to start a Star Trek craze among a whole new generation of Treckies.

Great movie, great cast, great story! I was confused with the beginning, being a Trekkie lite, but absolutely loved how they pulled it off! I'm so glad that the greatness that is Gene Rodenberry's Star Trek is back! I'm sure he's smiling from ear to ear with this one!

This is the best Star Trek movie since The Wrath of Kahn. GREAT script and 21st century effects and the cast was well chosen...they did justice to the original cast and were equally entertaining. And, with the time shift the future's wide open as far as where they can take this franchise. P.S. Leonard Nimoy was GREAT!

The cast was just awesome...perfect! This movie was suspensful from the beginning, even got chills throughout.... the characters played their parts well...it was funny, and left me wanting more. The ONLY thing I did not love about the movie was the relationship between Spock and Uhura. They should do a series with this new cast, and future movies. I wanted to watch it again immeditately after it ended..
