I must admit, growing up watching reruns of the old show made me nervous as to what this was going to be.
I was waiting with both fear and anticipation...and I am telling you, this movie lives up to the hype...better, it exceeds it! There were tiny things placed all over the movie to make those who know the old show giggle and laugh, and jaw dropping effects and action to make anyone love the movie, while blending in smart humor, a clever storyline, and bringing old friends in along the way.
I'd recommend this to ANYONE who likes action, comedy, and great story telling.

What brilliant casting! I hear some say that the Kirk characterization was not right on, but I feel that depends on how fully you interpret James T. Kirk. I thought everyone involved did a supreme job. As a Star Trek fan from the beginning, I found this movie to be a good, honest tribute to all that the series ever offered us. Thanks for the earnest work, and I'm ready to see the next!

Star Trek was great! If you are a fan of the series and know the history of the characters, you will not be disappointed, it stays true to the story line, and if something happens that you know based on the originaly story line can't be true, my belief is when they come out with the next one that it will get cleared up.
The new actors were so well chosen and didn't imitate the original actors but expanded the characters and gave greater insight into how they became the people they did.
What a great movie! I went to see it twice, and was not disappointed either time.

The movie was great I love that it gave us a new beginning to the Star Trek saga.
Kirk wasn't perfect, Bones aka Dr. McCoy still whiny as ever. Ohura a much more realistic & intelligent women with a Foxy Brown type of attitude. Sulu & Chekov more comedic. And, let's not forget Scotty & his little friend they were hilarious. I also loved that the original Spock, Leonard Nemoy, was incorporated into the new move. Watch this movie!!! Even if you don't like Star Trek or Sci-Fi it has a great story line and gorgeous actors.

It was one of the best movies i have seen in a long time!!!
I have never really cared about the
Star Treck series. Seen one episode and had to turn off the TV because it was so bad. But the movie was the total oposite and had me crying, laughing, and hanging on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next!!!!
Such a great story and planning to buy the DVD when it comes out! :D
Would recomend it to anyone!!!!!

JJ Abrams Star Trek was AWESOME, Even if you have no idea about Star Trek, or even care about the series, you will love this lovie.
He really brings the movie to a new level. You can see the magic that he did in his other hits and applied it to the Star Trek franchise. You left with the same WOW feeling as you did when you saw Star Wars, and other great fims.
May actually go see it again, at IMAX.

With a refreshing twist. The movie brought us back to the cast that started it all. From Capt. Kirk's love of women, to the incredible monorisms of Dr. "Bones" McCoy. It rolled up the star trek history and put it back to the good old days.

I grew up watching the original Star Trek series. I've seen the Star Trek movies until this one! WOW! What a ride. Even if you haven't followed the series, it doesn't matter! You'll figure it out. The movie has all of the elements to make it interesting and fun. I sat on the edge of my seat. Spock is even "hot" .

I really wasn't expecting much..... I certainly was wrong. This Star Trek brings back very dear characters from TOS, but has nice appeal for a whole new generation. I imagine it had become very difficult to keep track of all the Trek histories in writing new screenplays. This version "wipe the slate clean" for future films, but retains the charm of TOS.

This movie was loaded with action and the dynamic humor that could always be associated with the original series is present in aces. The actors have done an incredible job fitting into the classic characters from the 60's series. While the story itself was a space opera, akin to the Next Generation's final movie stint in Nemesis, It was a story line that drew you in because of the characters themselves. I would recommend this movie for lovers of Star Trek and those just looking for a fun, action movie.

The movie was very well done! The characters were a great representation of the original ones! Especially young Spock! He was amazing! The young Kirk was amazing too! The best was having Leonard Nimoy in the movie! That was priceless! It was fast-moving and the 2 hours and 6 min. went by so fast! It was absolutely worth the money to see it on the big screen. I recommend it to all!

This movie was SOOOOO good! I highly, highly recommend seeing it! I'm pretty young (23) and have never watched any Star Trek series and I followed pretty much everything that was going on throughout the film - it wasn't only for Trekkies. (And if there was stuff in the film that only Trekkies knew, it didn't impede my enjoying or understand of it at all i.e. it was unnecessary to know to enjoy). It had the perfect balance of action, humor, romance, and drama. GREAT MOVIE!!!!

This movie was honestly exciting. The characters did a tremendous job recreating the nuances of the original characters and it was fun to watch them all come together. The relationship between Uhura and Spock was a little perplexing as was the future Spock tidbit, but it didn't detract from the movie. This truly was a fun, exciting and all together enjoyable movie to watch that I would recommend to anyone, Star Trek fan or not.

As the plot unfolded there were several small discrepancies that I did not understand, however, with the revelation of the old spock and the time travel involved, these small anomalies were justifiable. Overall, an excellent movie that I believe is true to the original Star Trek idea and journey! The choice of actors to portray each original character were true to form and the casting directors did an excellent job! The relationship between Ohura and Spock was unexpected.

Felt like back in time! The script was wrote in the according to the Original Series style and the actors managed to incorporate young Nimoy, Shatner & co. The only odd man out was Ohura's behaviour that doesn't match with goo Michelle. But this doesn't interfere in this terrific movie.

I loved it! Was concerned of what they would do to such a great monumental show...but this throwed me for a loop!
They even kept a lot of the dialect of the characters. Very pleased with the movie.

I was very impressed with this "prequel" to the Star Trek series on TV. It moved well from the opening and added depth and insight into characters while maintaining idenifying traits to each character. I will probably go see this again myself.

I've never been a Star Trek fan and I enjoyed this movie. I didn't feel lost in not understanding the history. It was a good story on it's own. Tons of action throughout the whole thing. Not a moment to relax.
