I was a fan of the original series and I thought it was great! Great casting! The characters were true to the series in attitude and mannerisms. Wonderful action and special effects. I hope they make another. There are so many story lines to be explored. I just hope the stars don't price themselves so high that new movies don't get made or they have to change stars.

Nice to see somebody remembered Captain Pike, although it differed from the original series. Just a bit confusing for an old time Trekker, who would stop the Fraternity meeting for one hour each Thursday so we all could watch the show.
Some interesting twists, but the movie screen I saw it on was not a wide screen setup, but the sound system was incredible, even if a bit too loud

I have watched every episode of Star Trek starting with the Original Pilot the night it aired. I was a little reluctant to see the new movie, especially reading some of the viewer's reviews. But I found this feature an absolute delight! A roller coaster ride from start to finish, only slowing down to give us character background stories that explain the close bonds and mutual respect of the Enterprise Crew. But watch with an open mind because while we know the characters, this Enterprise sets sail in a new direction--unexpected, intriguing, leaving me wanting more...

This movie was extremely well cast. The graphics and speical effects were spectacular and the action never waned. The new cast captured the nuanaces of the original crew with new energy and excitement. I was not expecting to be able to sit through such a long movie without losing interest and was never bored!

I love the special effect,s especially when Kirk and the others had to hyper jump onto Nero's spaceship.
It was nice to see that Spock "got the girl"

My 12-year old daughter and I were on the edge of our seats. The movie is a tad over 2 hours long but we never felt like it was long at all because it was so actioned packed. My kid never saw a Star Trek show although I grew up with them...she loved the movie as I helped her understand the traditional emotional drama amongst the main characters. Their relationships stayed true to form. The cameo with Leonard Nimoy was a classic. It gave the film that authentic Star Trek touch. I hope they make another film.

As a child and young teen, I would watch Star Trek with my family. Never a BIG fan of the more recent movies, this action packed beginning made us think twice about becoming Trekky's ( Pardon this misspelling if this is not correct). I was not excited about going but glad I did. We are given insite to how it all began.

I have also been a Star Trek fan since way back, and this movie was directly on point down to the look of the actors as well. Spok Kirk and Bones as well as Sulu and Uhurah the speech challenges for Andreav P (lol) and scottie were uncanny. My compliments to the casting director. The plot wasn't weak at all and star trek in my opinion is alive again. Just stay away from all theCheese. Youn could even re-introduce the Borg but with a twist.

I am a huge Star Trek fan and I loved it since I was 5. I have seen all of the movies and I think this was the best out of all of them. I even took my 7 yr old daughter to watch it and she loved it and she and I have decided when this movie hits DVD we are going to buy it.

The movie was wonderful. It was perfectly balanced between drama, action, and comedy. I love that Leonard Nimoy made his appearance, but I wish Shatner had showed up as well. Sylar as Spock and Simon Pegg as 'Scotty' really took the cake for me. Two hours of grade A entertainment - absolutely worth your $8!

I watched Star Trek series as a child, this big screen version was awesome. I liked how it was not too short and not too long. I also liked how it gave a little background to the main characters so you can see where they were coming from and how they were destined to become who they are. It was done very well, not only for the old trekkies but for the new audience who never watched the old series. Job well done!

Great movie with excellent effects. Took my parents who have not been to a theatre since the original tv series was on the air and they both were blown away. Dont know if it was the new high tech theatre or the movie but they both thouroughly enjoyed themselves. Did not care much for the actor who portrayed James T. or the apparent relationship between Ulhura and Spock. I would reccommend this film to anyone,old and new fans alike.

This was great! Old school Star Trek meets new school tech. I loved it. Better than any of the others, loved how they evolved.
One question, Lt.Uhura, how come she was never promoted in the origional series? Cuz she's a woman? Lol

The movie kept us interested throughout, with it's action and comedic scenes. But both my BF and I wish William Shattner could have made a brief appearance (just for old times sake) I look forward to sequels and buying the DVD. It was worth the money to see it on the big screen.

I haven't had this much fun at a SF movie since the first Star Wars movie! Yes, there ARE some pickable nits here and there, and no, this ISN'T better than Wrath of Khan, but brother, it's up there! To a person, the characters are fundamentally true to those we all know and love, even if some aspects are surprisingly different. The special effects are as good as any I've seen and better than any previous Trek movie hands down. This movie never drags, but at the same time never feels rushed. I unhesitatingly commend it to every Star Trek fan and anyone who loves SF and wants a unreservedly fun time at the movies!

As the movie began I found myself wondering if they could pull this off without the familiar characters I have come to know and love. A bit of a rough start though you found yourself looking for a connection to their future self. The character of bones was extremely believable and was wonderful in its introduction and development and then his character disappeared for the most part until the last scenes. Action packed with digital imagery it keeps you intriqued till the end. My only complaint would have to be the tatooed Romulans. I wish they had kept them more true to the form we are familiar with. The best I would have to say is having the Spock we know. A must see for movie goers. Looking forward to a sequel.

I did enjoy the movie but for a true trekkie too many things were out of place even for an "alternate" timeline. One planet used in the movie as right next to the Vulcan planet is from the Wrath of Khan movie and is not even in the same solar system.(Ceti Alfa VI) Were they so busy changing things they did not have time to come up with a new name for a planet? Really? The action and effects were great and McCoy was by far the best! Even though i did enjoy the film,
it seems to be a big setup for future films where all the characters will be totally different. I don't think i will go to any future editions from this timeline!

This reboot of the Star Trek franchise would have been pretty good for a first episode of a new Trek TV Series, but as a feature film, I was VERY disapointed. The first 20 minutes were far too cliche for the calibur of writers involved in the project. Also, I loved the early development of the new Bones, then they just let the character lie there for final 1 hour plus. The special effects are excellent, the characters are intriguing, if under-developed. The tatooed Romulans are a bit much, though. Too much pop, not enough sustenence.

I am a huge fan of the original series, but I never considered myself a trekkie until yesterday. I actually choked up every time a character was introduced. The casting was superb, and the characterizations, even with the subtle differences made possible by the alternate timeline (itself an homage to the best scripts of the original series), were so dead on that it almost feels like I've found old home movies of beloved relatives who are no longer with us. As if that weren't enough, the plot is every bit as exciting and character-driven as Roddenberry's best work. The two hour movie flies by. And the special effects are amazing. I can't wait to see this again.

Good Movie. The cast chosen was to play the charaters as young people was done very well. Lots of action and excitement. It's nice to see that the Enterprise from the beginning could not take much without being damaged. Very in keeping with the original shows. I enjoyed it and I would recommend it.

The special effects were fantastic! As one who's watched all the star trek movies, the plot on this film kept throwing me off, but it is interesting how the makers of this movie are doing the same as in the Star Wars films, and doing prequels. I truly enjoyed this film, and would recommend it to a friend!

The Perfect rebirth of the series. Better than any of the other movies to date, the movie wisely takes advantage of the tried and true "alternate reality" timeline interupted technique so familliar to fans of the series but this time around, things don't revert back, bad things don't become undone and in the process, the trap of TV series is removed from the series going forward.
Having watched the series reguralry from age 6 on when the show was new (older brothers left me no choice) I could not have asked for a better return of the greastest Sci Fi franchise of all time.
