Excellent. They did a good job of connecting this movie to the original series of TV and theater versions. One sign of a great movie is when a 2hr 6min movie seems to be over in less than half that. There were no dead spots or attempts to "stretch" the movie. (Unlike the original Star Trek The Movie, that took about forever just to show the hull of the Enterprise. It was obvious they wanted to get their money's worth from the model.)
One of the best movies I have seen in a long time.

The special effects were incredible! I didn't think that the story line stayed with the original series and the Spock/Ohoura was very much a surprise and maybe a little far fetched. But overall, I very much enjoyed it and it was a fantastic movie!

Excellent addition to the Star Trek Collection. The references from older TV episodes as well as ongoing jokes from the movies were well placed but the movie holds its own for someone who never saw the originals. Well done, very well done.

This movie brought together all the knowlegde of the Star Trek experience with a new understanding for what possibilities are out there for past/present/future events and what ramifications those variables play in the outcome of now. The special effects and ingenuity of creating this film were top notch.

Excellent movie,
People who watched the series can relate to the Characters in
the series and films. the amusing use of anecdotes which only true fans
would notice was excellent. Although the introduction of the
Spock/Uhura liason was unexpected but intriguing. What about nurse
Chapman?

I grew up watching the original Star Trek and I thought the movie might not live up to it, but.....BOY DID IT! It was amazing how you realize who's who and really see how the modern actors found the key elements of the original actor's personalities...Bones and Scotty were great! It did not feel like 2 hours at all and the ending was wonderful! My friend never even watched the original and normally doesn't like Sci Fi but she LOVED this movie!!! Don't miss it on the big screen!!!!

There is only one word to describe this movie...BREATHTAKING. I saw this movie opening night, and have seen it a total of 5 times. The cinematics were amazing, the actors portrayed their characters perfectly. The movie was beautiful to look at and to listen too. You out did yourself Mr. Abrams. Heck of a movie. Would I buy it on DVD? YES! Would I recommend it? YES!

I really liked this movie. It was entertaining throughout. I loved the actor that played Capt. Kirk. He had such boyish charm which is what you'd imagine that Kirk was like when he was young. I also liked the story line dealing with Spock and Kirk's developing friendship.Great all around movie.

I have been a fan of the original series for a long time. This movie had it all - almost. Except for Quinto and Cho who most reminded me of their original counterparts, the rest of the cast just didn't click for me even though their acting was strong. Still, the special effects and backstories held my interest even if the plot was weak. I also felt the villainous, Nero, was not as compelling as some of the others such as Khan (forever my favorite!). Still, the movie is very good, mostly because of the special effects which are the highlight of this film. Seeing it again with more realistic expectations may have changed my rating, but I felt a bit letdown walking out of the theater.

This movie was a true surprise and really held our interest. While it may not appeal to Star Trek purists, we were entertained the whole way though, and enjoyed the backstory between Kirk and Spock.

If you want to see a "fantasy movie" with a lot of unrealistic action with kid acting, this is it. Almost every depiction of something related to scifi/technolgy was intended for an under 12 audience. . Hey, I’m not expecting content that would rival serious scifi writers but even a kid knows that you don’t build a star ship in the middle of a field in Iowa..LOL.. And everybody… anybody knows that when anything re-enters the atmosphere … somethings gotta burn…. Oh the travesty and insults to even a novice scifi enthusiasts (let alone a trekie) goes on and on… but there is not enough space here to list it. Gene Roddenberry is rolling in his grave.

I took my dad to see this for Father's Day, and it was definitely worth the money! The computer generated scenes were amazing and they casted this movie very well. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole movie. The best thing that my dad appreciated was that the story line kept true to the original series. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone.

What suspense and edge-of your-seat action! Keeps with the tradition of Star Trek through the years. Fans won't be disappointed. A sweet twist with Spock and Uhura but it was so unbelievable; they could have left that out.

It was not your typical "Kirk meets bad guy, Kirk gets bad guy" type of Trekkie film. It has several hidden suprises that one may or may not like if accustomed to Star Trek flicks.
It is more than your money's worth! Go and see it again and again!!!

I loved this movie so much I have seen it seven times in the theater and I am not even a Star Trek fan. I initially saw the movie because of JJ Abrams directing it (Love all his shows), but the compelling storyline, fabulous character development, and great photographic elements really appealled to me. I HIGHLY recommend it. I dragged my parents to see it as well--and even my mother (who hates action flicks) liked it.
