At the end of the movie the entire audience broke into applause. It was fun from the first moment to the last. If you have never seen Star Trek you will enjoy it. If you watched the original Star Trek and know what tribbles are you will have the BEST TIME you have had IN A VERY LONG TIME!!!

I first found the plot challenging because I was imposing my long-time Star Trek memories into the plot, expecting it to be a pre-quel. To my surprise and delight - this movie opened up a whole new avenue for sequels with "the sky's the limit."
The introduction of the characters seemed a bit rushed, but then there are only a couple of hours to fit everything in. The cast was well chosen and gave a fresh interpretation of the original characters.
I would recommend this to anyone who likes adventure movies. There's even a little romance thrown in for those who don't.

This is an excellent movie for all ages. The folks that are familiar with the original TV series will enjoy seeing how those main characters "got their start". The special effects are awesome!

Well most people think that this a movie for geeks, nerds, dorks you know. But they are flat out wrong! I had never watched one single episode of star trek before i saw this movie and now i am a treki. It is also surprsingly as funny as hancock. Its a really good date movie. My only complaint was that in some parts it was a little to drawn out but other then that it was awsome.

This movie had far too much popcorn humor in it. I felt like the directing was aiming for the Disney Channel demographic. I don't know much about the original Star Trek series, but there was a little too much comedy and not enough action. The movie wasn't all bad, at least now I know what a Vulcan Death Grip is.

Star Trek is a perfect summer movie. It's fast, loud and stupid. Good science fiction presents us with worlds lovingly imagined in all their details. This sloppily conceived mess is a tangle of inconsistencies and question marks. It's lazy story-telling.

I have never been a big Star Trek fan, but this movie was fantastic! It was very well written, very well played out, and the actor picks were spot on. Definitely a must see, even if you aren't a "Trekkie"!

This is one of the best Star Trek movies to date. Plenty of action and I loved the two Spock twist to the movie. Always been a fan of Leonard Nimoy. Highly recommended for all viewers. Can't wait for the next one.

I loved this movie, was very entertained. My only concern is that if you aren't familiar with the characters from the original TV show (Sulu, Scotty, Bones, etc.), you might not appreciate how they came together to be the crew of the Enterprise. If you liked the TV show---you will love the movie and want a sequel made NOW!

Star Trek XI, never thought I'd see that happen. The good: Lots and lots of action.
The bad: Lots and lots of action. Still a lot of unanswered questions.
When JT first arrives at the shipyard, we see a ship being built on the planet. How’d they launch the damned thing then?
The "love" tryst between Spock and Uhura....WOW! Nice twist. Never in a million years saw that coming. Bones was superb, great sarcasm. Chekov, the accent was way overplayed.
Sulu...John Cho, great choice, a fine actor. I first caught him in the role of a ghost on "Charmed". Scotty's accent could use some thinning. It's not perfect, but it's quite close. Out of 5 stars possible, I'd compute the rating to be 4.9975.

Better than the past Star Trek movies. The use of special effects was mind blowing. It shows a different reality from the original. Suspenseful in every scene. Each actors delivered their roles on the mark. Would see it again and again. Outstanding!!!

I have been a Trekkie since I was a little girl. I've seen every Star Trek film and TV episode (except for the new one--Enterprise)...just couldn't get into it feels like too far of a departure. Up until now, The Wrath of Khan was my absolute favorite Star Trek movie. After seeing this, The Wrath has been bumped down to number 2. This movie was the perfect mix of action, drama and comedy which sometimes, the ones before it seemed to struggle with finding that balance. The physical resemblance and similarities of the new versions of the old characters were incredible. Everything about it was just great. The dramatic effects, the story line, the battle scenes....everything...this is definitely a keeper!

Truly enjoyed this Star Trek. New faces/characters kept some of the mannerisms of the old Star Trek crew - Bones, Scotty, Spock, Jim and O'Hura were excellent.

This movie caught the essence of the original characters and this made it as much fun as the original.
It actually brought me back to why I like the original series, it was all about the interplay between the crew. This shows how the love they had for each other was inspired.

Star Trek is everything a trekker could want: superb writing and casting, infusion of comedy, characters who are not afraid to show their strengths as well as their weaknesses, and many touches of the old and familiar lovingly tucked into a perfect package. While I was a devotee of the TV version of Star Trek, I am not usually thrilled to go and see a shoot 'em up action movie these days. The new Star Trek was an exception. I wanted to see what current visual effects capabilities could add to this movie and I was pleasantly surprised.
I nearly rose from my seat, fleeing from too much excitement. Thankfully, every fearsome scene quickly morphed into another and I rode the rollercoaster of quick action..
I found myself reinvesting in new actors in old beloved roles. This movie is a must for all ages above about 12 years of age. I totally enjoyed the experience.

Great movie! Non Stop action from start to finish! Not to over the top with special effects....You would get a bit more out of it if you had watched the org. series....

Questions about the beginning of Kirk, Spock, Bones, and Uhura are answered. Chris Pine keeps the Captain Kirk personality alive and Zachary Quinto portrays a side of Spock that we all questioned before. J.J. Abrams twist on Star Trek leaves open future opportunites that will be most welcomed for the future.

A fun action movie, not at all true to Sar Trek genre. Similiar juvenilization to the Star Wars prequel that goes beyond the neccessarily young cast.
Typical lack of respect for meaningful plot endemic of most sci-fi movies which translates as lack of respect for the audience.
Basic time travel conventions that usually help to at least try to limit the confusion of time travel plots cutely ignored in the interest of having Leeonard on screen.

We the treckies always wanted to know how it all began and this movie brought it all out, how Capt Kirk became the great leader, How Checkov, join the Federation, How Spock took the death of his planet and his mother, and of course How the relationship came about with Kirk, Spock and the good old Doctor,
This was great, and I hope they have a second one that would put the TV series and the Next Generation, all in a full Circle.
