My husband and I, who are both in our 60's, saw the Star Trek yesterday and both agree it was the best Trek movie to date. We love the story line...and the redevelopment of the original roles. It was like the REAL Star Trek was back.
I hope they plan to make more of these usinag the same cast.

Non stop action, good story, good acting and just maybe the best Star Trek movie ever. It is definitely up there with "Khan", but sentimentality won't let me put the new one on top of that one.
If you've never seen a Trek movie or watched the TV shows, don't worry. You won't get some of the small things but you will enjoy the movie. Very happy with JJ Abrams version. Can't wait until the next one.

A truly magnificent production of the Iconic Star Trek genre. Perhaps it should be Star Trek, The New Generation, the casting was excellent, the story line captivating, and the bringing of some of the best loved television/movie characters into their new relationships. The young cast, including veterans Ben Cross (Sarek) & Bruce Greenwood (Captain Pike), have made a truly memorable tribute to William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelly, Nichelle Nichols, James Doohan, George Takei, Walter Koenig, Mark Lenard & Jeffrey Hunter & of course gene Roddenberry.

This movie was way more than what I expected. The characters were right on the money. It was full of action and there was never a dull moment. My whole family went to watch it and we all gave it an outstanding review. You must watch this movie at the theater to appreciate all the special effects.

With one stroke of a pen, the writers of this film have obliterated over 500 hours and ten movies wirth of TREK history. This new timeline was not necessary to tell an origin story. While I enjoyed the film immensely, I found its tinkering with convention jarring. To its credit, the casting was superb and the action/sspecial effects were terrific. I am now curious to see just how Abrams and Co. will continue the story in the new timeline. Rest assured, there will be further disruptions in the STAR TREK universe to come!

What I loved best about this movie is that they preserved the essence of the original Star Trek without copying it. By the time I finished watching it, I really felt that I had watched another episode of Star Trek! The story line was true to the original series, and history. Great stuff!

True, it wasn't completely faithful to the original story line(s), but get over it. Well cast, well written, well executed. Go ahead and slide to the edge of your seat when the lights go down. You will wind up there anyway. Zachary Quinto (Siler from Heroes) as Spock??? Spot on!
Keep them coming, I'll be in line at the theater!

I just saw Star Trek for the second time, and it's just as good or better in the return. Clever bits I'd missed the first time livened things up, and the drama and visual splendor were just as powerful. The characters, the acting, the directing, the effects - all were "spot on", pitch-perfect. Watch to see how the various actors inhabit their parts, especially how Kirk gradually becomes more and more like the one we loved, as he slowly earns his swagger.
I have a few quibbles about the techno-babble stuff like red matter and strategy, but those are for late-night geek-fests. For now, just GO SEE IT! And if you have, SEE IT AGAIN! (Sorry for shouting....)

I went with my adult son and two grandchildren who are elecen and six.
We loved it, the kids loved it and want to see past Star Trek movies and tv shows.
They did a great job, it was thrilling and yet so much like the past Trek's. I loved seeing the original Spok, and the caracters were great being decendants of the original crew.
Can't wait to see it again, I'll also buy it on dvd.

J.J. Abrams did a great job retooling the Star Trek franchise. I am not a "Trekie" and did not like the original nor its movies. But I have enjoyed TNG and its movies. It was a great reboot and a fun ride.

I thought the franchise was all washed up, but wow. Abrams and company have brought out the magic in a Toure de Trek that satisfies old Trekkies like myself and young a like. Highly recommend seeing. I'm more of a fan of the newer incarnations of the tv show than any of the original Star Trek movies or show...HOWEVER, this was very well written, with impressive FX, a cast that not only physically resembled the characters that we have already come to know and love, but had the opportunity to take on thier characteristics....this was a PHOENOMINAL Star Trek Movie....please don't let any of my spelling errors discourage you -- Impressive, is truly not enough to describe what a great addition to the Star Trek universe this movie is. Kudos to J.J. Abrams and the writting and production team.

I have been a Star Trek fan for 43 years, since I was 7. I loved this movie! It had everything a fan of modern movies wants. Plus it was chock full of little winks and nods to Trek movies and shows of the past (future?). I have seen it 4 times and still find things I missed. I recommend this movie to everyone, trek fans and non fans alike.

I was dragged to this movie by my 14 year old. I'm glad he did. Definitely better sequel than prior one. It was a good spin on the story and well linked to the original. I enjoyed it.

JJ Abrams did a fabulous job with this Trek movie. My hope is that it will get people interested again. Action packed and great special effects.
The young Kirk, Spock, and McCoy are great actors and did the characters great justice.
The story line was great and you didn't need to be a Trekie to understand what was going on. Looking forward to seeing it again at an IMAX theater!

As a long time ST fan, I loved the film. Great story, great acting (the new cast had a lot of the nuances down of the poeple they were playing on the show). You dont have to be a fan to enjoy it as witnessed by my 12 year old son-- a true sci-fi fan. A MUST SEE

By far the best movie I've seen this year even though I was never a Star Trek fan. From what I know (and what others tell me) the only thing that they really kept from the original story line is pretty much the character names, but the casting was great, the action was amazing, and the special effects were mind blowing.

The acting, storyline and special effects are better than ever. It is in my highest hopes that this team continues forward with this combination as it was the best Star Trek movie to date. Prequels
I consider myself a long-time fan. While I'm not a convention-going trekker, I can identify the difference between a bird of prey and a valdore and this movie satisfied my Star Trek lust fully.

Young crew, imaginative story line, and lots of explosions. As a fan of the Original Star Trek, yes, I own all the episodes, and movies up to this one, I enjoyed this prequel McCoy & Scotty were dead on; Spock was excellent. Uhura stunning visually, but not the reserved elegance of Nichell Nicols. Kissy face with Spock ? REALLY! Too few scenes with Nimoy .Good casting for Sulu and Chekov, Weakest portrayal: Jim Kirk. We all still love Star Trek, but don't ruin a good thing with more prequels; (remember Star Wars) I recommend this film for 7-8 out of 10. Best ensemble cast still the original. Live long and Prosper

This is the most entertaining movie I've seen in quite some time. This movie is well-written with great characters, exciting action, and some laughs. I'm a huge Star Trek fan and saw the movie with a friend who really hasn't watched anything since the original series as a kid, and we both loved it. There are a lot of Easter eggs for the long-time fans, but they've rebooted the series in a way that makes it very accessible to those who just want to be entertained. I highly recommend you see this movie.
