I was expecting the movie to be action packed and fun. It did not dissappoint. I liked guessing at the identities of the characters and found it surprisingly humorous. It was more fun than I have had in a theater in a long time. It was exciting, action packed and the special effects were great. My dad came a long, who is not much of a movie fan and had never watched Star Trek, but even he found it fun and time well spent. Even if you don't know the crew of the original USS Enterprise, this movie is a blast of an introduction to the Star Trek Universe.

watched star trek as a kid. loved the movie!!! a few surprises. good action. still thinking about the use of technology developed by one of the characters which was pivotal to the story....very interesting....

The characters were right on and it had a new twist with the love interest between Spock and Huhura. The action was plenty and some differences between the series and this movie which adds intriguing insight. good movie!!

The Spock and Uhura thing is pretty ridiculous, and Scottie is played way over the top. The bridge of the Enterprise is a little too generic for my tastes. Otherwise, I think they did a pretty good job. Now that this is out of the way I'm looking forward to new adventures.

Pretty awesome movie! Thought it held true to the original characters which made it fun for my dad and i (the trekkies of the family), but my boyfriend found it entertaining as well even tho he's not an avid fan of the series. Thought a cpl of the special effects could of been a little more fine tuned, but other than that would def recommend!

After seeing this movie for the second time, its clear that this movie hits the mark on several levels.
It fits in the Trek universe without being the same: By employing a comic book "origins" approach, this rewrites history while remaining true to arguably critical components: the character's key attributes remain intact, the crew is comprised of the same core personnel, the crew fill largely the same story roles as they did in the "alternate reality" Enterprise.
It deftly (and deeply) reuses what we know of the Trek universe: From wardrobe and set/model designs, from gadgets to gizmos, there are tons of references to both the TV shows and movies.
I will definitely recommend this movie, and ultimately own it as well.

Having grown up with a younger sister who is a true "Trekkie", I was not sure about going to see this movie. However, it turned out to be money well spent on an excellently written, well casted, movie. I would defiinitely recommend it to friends and family and plan on adding it to my DVD collection when it comes out (few current movies get that honor).

I enjoyed the movie even though I thought it was unnecessarily complicated. Spock from the future and future Spock meeting past Spock was all a little too contrived for my taste but it was interesting to meet the characters at the beginning of their careers and see what they were like before they became the personalities we are all familiar with. Enjoy the action and the characters and don't get too involved as to whether anything makes much sense (even in the world of Star Trek).

NEW: Kirk's parents are introduced. Kirk's line (ST4 Voyage Home)"I'm from Iowa,I only work in Space."is given a twist.(NO SPOILERS). Uhura & Spock are "close".OLD: Romulans given a "makeover", not as much as the "Worf" Klingons.Christopher Pike as Kirk's mentor, is reintroduced to old fans as the Enterprise Captain.The new actors pay proper homage to their predecessors.Especially impressive is Karl Urban's McCoy. McCoy's character is difficult to master; Kirk's fiercely loyal companion & Spock's equally troublesome adversary. Simon Pegg (Sean of the Dead)is excellent as Scotty. It transitions well from ST NEMESIS with Spock as Romulan Ambassador. Also Kirk's childhood indiscretions & initial contact between Spock & Kirk... ENJOY!!!!

although I'm a big treky fan, I thought the movie was over all good, the acting and special affects, but as for some of the camera work there were parts in there that were very shaky and some of the scenes went by so fast you couldn't get the concept of what they were trying to acheive, but the storyline was believeable

For Star Tr!ek fans(old and new), this is a "must see!" For those of us that fell in the category of older treckies, we were not disappointed. The casting was super, and the dialouge was perfect. I plan to see it again, and purchase it when available!

Most enjoyable experience! The actors captured the personalities so well that they seemed to be the original cast. The story line is compelling and the sets and special effects were amazing. I hope they can get 5 or 6 prequels out of this!

Star Trek is an awsome movie. i have never watched any of the Star Trek movies or t.v. shows or movies but it was an overall good movie. I didn't know any of the charecters except for Spock and Kirk, and I got to learn who they are. I won't reveal anything but their is a cameo by someone from the orignal Star Trek show. They have all the classic lines "I'm givin' her all she's got", and "Beam me up, Scotty."
Over all Star Trek was a very good movie. However, there is an inappropreite scene for children under the age off 13.

I was not totally sure how good this movie would be. Could a brand new cast of actors stay true to our beloved TOS while establishing themselves in our hearts? The answer is YES.
I've seen it 3 times and enjoyed it more each time.
Developing an alternative time line plot, protects Trek history and gives us new possibilities.
The one thing I did not like about the movie was the sound track. Maybe I'm just to much an old time Trekkie, but it just didn't have the power, energy and wonder from the preceeding soundtracks.
Overall feeling: I'm 16 again and discovering Star Trek for the first time. It restored my dreams and hopes for the future. It restored my feeling of adventure in my journey through life.

I've seen it twice, and loved it both times. The only sad thing is that it's show on an IMAX screen for only 2 weeks. They should consider running it longer. A movie like this deserves to be seen in full digital quality. I love the movie and can't wait to own it

Thoroughly enjoyed movie with my wife and sixteen year old son. I'm a huge Trek fan and had mixed emotions about the ''redeaux" of the original concept but it was well done. A bit choppy as director tried to get everything (including a green alien woman) in the pic, but minor complaint. Actor who played Bones just nailed it. My son, who has no Trek background, thought it was ''off the chain.'' Definite must see.
