Brilliantly done. A much needed reboot to get the tranchise going again, faithful to the spirit of the original but bringing things up to date and freshening to be accessible to new generations of fans. Do not walk, RUN to your theater and watch it.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I do agree that "Future Spock" wasn't necessary, but overall a great film, and I can't wait to see more! Definitely was not the Trek I remember as a kid! For a diehard fan that could be a bad thing, but I liked this very much.

Awesome. The movie gave me goosebumps multiple times. It wasn't just action...the movie actually made you think too! Definitely one of the best Trek movies.

As a long time diehard, I was skeptical.
This shows the great balance of action, plot and humor that JJ Abrams is known for. The reboot is plausible through the plot, and the movie, acting and effects were great. Definitely the movie everyone has been waiting for since Kahn. The second movie will hopefully come soon.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie from start to finish. There were so many great nods to the old TV show as well as a great unique story that it was perfect for trekkies and newcomers alike. I have no complaints about the movie itself. There are a couple of things I would have like added but then I would have had to have given the movie 6 out of 5 stars and that just wouldn' t be possible, now would it?

some reviews stated the older trekkies probably wont get into it was correct. making darker movies don't make better movies, and this is the prime example. what the new director did, just for the sake of making future movies, and the fact nimoy was major part of this was disappointing. young people that live the shoot-em-up game life will get into this, but hopefully not enough of them will sustain this new vision of trek--i know i never will

I really had NO expectations for this movie and walked out a happy person. I do not agree that this was a "perfect" movie like many of the reviews would have you believe. There are a lot of good one liners and many plays on the original series that worked rather well. The story was ok, but there were many gaps. I don't want to get into details about what was wrong because it would ruin it for people who haven't seen it. Lets just say there is a paradox problem here.....
I thought the acting was superb. I also don't think they could have done a better job casting. It is a definite must see for any Star Trek fan.

Overall, the film was good - the casting was superb, the effects awesome, and a fair story. At the same time, there were some glaring inconsistencies that made it clear that they weren't going to stick to some of the basic facts of Star Trek history. The movie lacked some of the truly rich storytelling and depth that made the Star Trek franchise great. But it's still a fun film and worth seeing.

If you're a Trek fan (and you know if you are) then this is a must see film, but while JJ Abrams does a good job with most of the action sequences, the writing and editing of this movie is haphazard, and there are moments when you'll turn away from the screen because of all the flashy .25 second editing of cuts.
Literally, I turned away from the screen several times. This tendency that directors have (market-tested to be sure) to linger on a shot no longer than .86 seconds is really tiring on the eyes, and on the brain.
This film seems to be JJ Abrams ode to Michael Bay. He seems to be saying: "See, I could have done Transformers too!"

This new edition in the Star Trek family is my new favorite. I went in thinking it might be good, but I was totally blown away. The script was self aware yet honorable to its fans, The actors were pretty close to perfectly cast, and the Action and Plot were great. I cannot say enough good things about this movie...A-

Visually stunning, great storyline... my generation grew up on Next Generation and Voyager, but now I want to go back and watch the original! I never watch movies multiple times.... until now :-)

This movie could not have been any better. It rocked my face. Anyone (meaning people who followed Star Trek and people who have no idea who Bones is) would love this movie. I think it's better if you know the characters, but anyone could enjoy this movie. I love Spock!!!

Great popcorn movie. Really enjoyed it. Good overall movie. They played the terminator card and changed the past so the new franchise can go anywhere they want. If you ever watched any of the early movies or classic Star Trek it really captures the essence of the classic characters. Excellent casting. Would highly recommend for any Star Trek fan. I would also recommend to others. My wife really really enjoyed it and she had to be dragged in to watch it. She is very glad to have seen it.

There was no way this movie was going to make die hard fans happy, without finding a reason to re-write history. There are just too many random facts out there, that they'd never be able to get them all straight. Re-writing history was the only way to make this work. Trek has always been about the relationship between the core characters, and this movie delivered in spades. Pine as Kirk was very true to the original. Quinto as Spock was a natural. But Karl Urban stole the movie as Leonard "Bones" McCoy. Great plot, great action, great characters. This one felt like an excellent addition to the mythos.

For those who are die-hard fans, expecting every little detail to adhere to the script of the original television show, you will be slightly disappointed. The movie deals with relationships built up, however, before the launch of the Enterprise's five year mission, so the die-hards (and I am one) should just chill a bit and go with it. It is an exciting, never a dull moment thrill ride that does not stop! My daughter, who has never really watched an episode of the original series is now hooked - she wants to watch all of my ST original series DVDs! Very nice! This was a great show, and it sets up SO much more in the years to come. It has to be one of the best movies of the year!

I just have to say this was worth the wait as well as the time spent in the movie. I grew up on Star Trek TNG and didnt really get much into the old Trek. So this was nice to bring it all together and makes me want to watch the other movies, as well as the TV series. I would tell everyone that this is a MUST see. It is #1 on my must own list. I cannot wait for it to be released ono Blu-Ray it is going to be AWESOME. So go out and see it. NOW

i have been a Trek fan all my life seen all the Films & TV series. You will love this film whether a first time Trek fan or a long time one like me. I have not seen a film with so much action in it in years! The storyline is fantastic and you will definitely do some timeline thinking during and after the film. Director Abrams did a fantastic job bringing this together with stunning visuals, intense action and a good storyline. Definitely a new birth for an old legend.

I was hoping I wouldn't be disappointed. Not only was I not disappointed, I was thrilled! Star Trek is funny, action-filled, fast-paced, and well acted. The young actors define the characters well, yet each fits well with the original actors who defined the roles first. In addition, Abrams subtley works in nice little reminders of the legacy this movie grew out of. The occasional line that is right from ST lore ... etc. And Nimoy is BRILLIANT. Absolutely brilliant! The final scene also is brilliant for a couple of very subtle things the actors do that is worth the price of admission. But moreso, this is a great plot, a great movie. GO SEE IT!
