Folks I am that rare guy that will go to these movies with my wife, and I was hoping to enjoy it. It's not the worst movie, but some movies are just better on DVD. Of course we had all the little girls around us texting and talking so that didn't help, but to me this movie didn't have the chemistry between the stars. I like both stars of this movie, and the way they wrote the guys character you probably need a guy like mcconaughey, and would have to be somebody to compare to the looks of jennifer garner, but it just seemed forced. She's done this movie before "13 going on 30" but now she is in the other role of the love interest, so felt very much the same, glad to see michael douglas in something again though.

I really loved Matthew McCounaghey, Jennifer Garner, and of course, Michael Douglas. Every character had their own big part and thrilled the audience over and over, I couldn't get my eyes off the screen at any split second. I would recommend this film to anyone, it may seem just like any other romance movie but it's totally worth going to watch. It will definitely go into my dvd collection once it's released.

It was awesome! I even brought my husband who normally wouldn't love the girl movies and he loved it too! Matthew Mc. is just as hot as ever and Jennifer Garner was great as usual. They really managed to take an old story and make it super cute.

I went to see this movie based on the number of positive reviews it had received. What were they thinking? The movie is formulaic, predictable, and, in my opinion sophomoric. There is so much innuendo - I cannot believe it wrangled a PG-13. The best performance in my opinion was from the actor who played Sandy, the bride. Every other role was played frivolously. Especially the Michael Douglas character. And I really like Jennifer Garner, just like other reviewers. Again, in my opinion, it's purely commercial and deserves a 1 1/2 star rating at most.

This movie was good. The funny thing this movie, is that it had a good cast besides Matthew, Jennifer, Michael. There's Breckin Meyer, Lacey Chabert, Emma Stone, Anne Archer and Robert Forster. Of course, when I look at the film, it kind reminds me ''Scrooged'' with Bill Murray, or that last movie that the director Mark Waters did which was "Just Like Heaven". Although, he did a good job on "Freaky Friday" and "Mean Girls". Guys, if you like romantic comedies like this one, grab your girlfriends and convince them to watch it. You might learn something from it.

Thought it was a great date movie. JG + MM + MD were terrific. A little predictable, but kept us laughing. Loved the ending. Maybe not for teens (PG-13), but I've seen worse adult content and language on regular T.V. Would recommend to friends.

I should have read the rating on the movie before seeing it. It says s*xual content throughout and you cant go one minute without hearing or seeing something inappropriate. I thought it was going to be more of a family friendly film.So I wouldnt recommend it.

I have to say that this movie was entirely predictable and a little bit nauseating to watch. The amount of alcohol constantly being consumed was a bit over the top as well. As attractive as JG and MM are the whole thing was a chore to sit through. Best part of the whole movie was actually the Ghost of Girlfriend Past - which it appears that the directors knew as well since they titled the movie after her.... Wait for DVD if you have to see this one...

Saw this in the new AMC Mainstreet theater in Kansas City, MO. Beautiful theater, great renovation. Too bad the film didn't come up to the level of its venue. No chemistry between the two stars, tired formula, poor writing. Michael Douglas looks like he has a complete set of dentures - so white they jump off the screen. I guess he needed the money because he's way better than that. I would give it a C at best.
I think this is a movie for the younger set - they seem to be rating it higher. For me, it had none of the "Bogart and Bacall" or "Tracy and Hepburn" magic, or even Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. Skip this one if your're over 40.

Took 2 of my kids to see this last night and when we left, the 13 and 14 year old girls were the first ones to say what we were all thinking: what a dumb movie. The only thing we liked about it was Jennifer Garner's character, who we thought was a pretty decent portrayal of an actual woman. Everyone else was an exaggerated version of their character. Save your money and (if you desperately want to see it) rent it when it comes out on DVD.

I am appalled @ the nudity & content for a PG13 rating.I LOVE Matthew but after this movie I won't ever go see him again.The fact that he put his name on this movie 4 preteens is disgusting.4 a young boy/girl to be sitiing next to each other during this would be disastrous. Amusing, feel good coming of age movie - recognizing family relationships. Much of the plot is as ludicrous as the thirties' comedies, however Michael Douglas' aging Lothario is right on target and fun to watch. Anne Archer is great and sardonic. Some clever dialogue - first girlfriend "of the past" was fabulous and what a fun role for the actress.

My girlfriends and I went to watch this movie and all three of us thought this was a fantastic movie. A lot of funny scenes. Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner were great for this movie. They both did a tremendous job. I could watch this movie a million times and never get tired of it.
