As good as it gets

Ironman is definitely near the top of the list of all time greatest super hero movies. My only complaint (and i am sure this was theater specific) is that the speed of the music track was off leading to a warbling sound throughout the movie.

Flawless and Beautiful

I grew up reading the Iron Man comic and was worried that a movie would mar my memory of the hero. Boy, was I wrong to worry. Iron Man might be a contender for best picture.

i am not even much of an action fan, and i LOVED THIS MOVIE!!! it gives great action, but it also gives great characters and an emotional quality that us girls can appreciate! and...you will be laughing at all the wonderfully dry, and witty humor while on the edge of your seat. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!

Good graphics and stuff. Not much action. I don't know if they got the plot right or not but i am sure some iron man comic book fans were mad. Hollywood always mess up comic book movies. They messed up the Xmen movies real bad! But overall it was funny and when the action came it was good. Samuel L. Jackson appears at the end of credits if you want to know because it says it stars him but it doesn't. They did mess it up because Nick Fury is white not black..

Great set-up for the Future

This is not nearly the best superhero movie. I didn't expect it to be. Iron Man just doesn't hold the same appeal (to me) as Batman/Spider-Man/X-Men. But the movie still does a fantastic job of setting up Iron Man for some potentially stellar sequels as well as being part of the new "Marvel Studios" Superhero Universe.

The scenes with Tony Stark are brilliant; and for me, they far overshadowed the Iron Man action sequences that we've all seen a thousand times on TV. These "Tony Stark" scenes benefit not only from some creative dialogue, but mainly the top-notch cast. I was surprised to find Paltrow and Howard make their sparse lines resonate so well against their relationship with Tony. Downey Jr. really steals the show however.

As for the action scenes, I am very glad that they actually built models of the suit instead of CGing everything. But, I believe many of the action sequences (particularly the end boss fight) did not carry enough of a WOW factor. I hate to say it, but Michael Bay's action sequences in Transformers last summer display a creativeness and coherence of excitement that Iron Man just did not hold.

Nevertheless, a very good effort.

Worth the money and time

Ironman is well done with excellent special effects and a pretty solid story line. The acting is pretty good and there is even some funny parts to keep you entertained. I would recommend this movie to anyone who is into the comic book genre or even those that aren't.

Far Surpasses Anything I've Seen

At first, I was incredibly excited that Iron Man was even becoming a movie. Each preview excited me even more, and finally the day came to see it.
Robert Downey Jr. did an insane job as playing the rich, playboy millionaire that is Tony Stark. From start to finish I found this movie to be exhilirating and intense. It definetely wasn't just another Summer Kids movie...like Speed Racer which will be hitting theaters soon.
I was extremely happy for the tip off about the extra scene at the end of the credits. I love how the movie set up for the appearance of S.H.E.I.L.D and the Avengers. I'm looking forward to the following two sequels. Hopefully Jon Favreau has the same visions in mind when he writes the next twop scripts when he wrote this one.

The bad guy was predictable, but the story line was great! Lots of action, great special effects, with a good dose of one liners made for a very enjoyable movie. Wait until after the end credits roll for a few extra moments of fun.

Do yourself a favor. Go see this movie. It is THE highlight of the summer. Robert, Terrence, Jeff, and Gwyneth have really outdone themselves as far as acting goes, and I can't wait for the sequel. EPIC!!!

Better than any other recent super hero movie

The movie was funny and action packed all at the same time without one of those qualities ruining the other and making it cheesy (i.e. "Spiderman," "Hellboy," and "Fantastic Four") or simply downright bad (i.e. "The Hulk"). One other great thing about the movie that Marvel seems to have completely defeated is horrible acting. Whether it be from absolutely pitiful dialogue to simply bad actor choices, Marvel decided to overcome those obstacles in "Ironman" with an awesome cast. There is even a little peek at the one and only Samuel L. Jackson. It is most definitely the best movie to come out of a comic book since DC Comic's "Batman Begins." I Can't wait to see more of the same from Marvel.

Whether or not you follow the comics you will enjoy this movie. However, if you are a comics fan, make sure you wait until after the ending credits role. I guarantee you will be pleasantly suprised by the post credit cameo.

Disappointing

Okay, so I got sucked in by the hype machine.

This was a movie that desperately wanted to be an Event with a capital E. The most telling example: it's a staple in filmed comic book origin stories that we'll have a scene with a great, dramatic unveiling of the hero's costume. Iron Man had three of these. One of the prototype, one of the finished suit, and one of the finished suit with a paint job. This could have worked as parody, but was played completely straight and somber - the audience was clearly intended to be equally awed each time. Which is not to say there was no intentional humor in evidence; unfortunately it was uniformly forced and obvious, often telegraphed well in advance. Equally obvious was pretty much every plot development. I won't be a meanie and spoil anything, but suffice to say it was all by the numbers. And again, this could have been used as a gentle poke at the genre - Sam Raimi made little self-referential nods to the plot contrivances in all three Spider-Man films and it worked beautifully; why couldn't Jon Favreau do it here?

Fine, fine, so it's no great piece of art or literature. What about the action sequences? That's what everyone waited in line to see, right? Well...they weren't *bad* per se, but they were too few and far between. The CGI was nicely realistic and, okay, yeah, it was kinda neat to watch Stark's assembly line machines dress him in the armor. But regardless of how well it was all realized, there just wasn't much of anything NEW here. Pretty much everything was, once again, strictly by the numbers - lots of stuff getting blowed up real good, sure, but nothing to make me sit on the edge of my seat and go, "Man, that was COOL!"

Finally, I have to make note of the terrorists who capture Stark at the beginning of the film. You know, the Al-Quaeda terrorists (no, they're not identified as such, but...c'mon) who were so stupid they couldn't tell, even with 24-hour camera surveillance, that their prisoner who told them he'll make them missiles is instead making an armored body suit. In a word, offensive. This sort of blatant propaganda ranks a bit below WWII-era caricatures of Germans and Japanese, but it's still in the same ballpark. And while the villain ultimately turns out to be the US arms dealer who supplies these terrorists (fine, I lied about not spoiling anything), given the current climate, there's just enough jingoism present here to make me hold my nose.

All I really wanted was an engaging comic book action flick, the sort of thing you can see on opening day with a theater full of fellow geeks and get swept up in the mania. Admittedly, everyone else in the theater seemed to be having that experience, and from a cursory glance at some other fan reviews, I see they're not alone. And you know, I'll freely admit that the little post-credits scene everyone tells you to stick around for gave me a genuine thrill. But couldn't the film have had a few more of those moments?

"I am Iron man."

“I am Iron man,” and with those words Tony Stark’s legend was reborn. This movie is a fantastic work of computer graphic art. Robert Downey Jr. is a superb actor and his own real-life drinking and drug usage fits the character so well. I was amazed at the length of the movie because it had few if any dead spots. Iron Man is packed with action, visual effects, and enough gadgetry to satisfy the tech-loving kid in all of us. We all know the story; we have seen the cartoons, but this movie brought the legend to life. Jon Favreau has real talent as a director and Terrence Howard once again shows his ability to act any number of characters. The entire cast did a great job and I will go see this movie again. I spent almost a hundred dollars to see this movie and it was well worth the price. “I am Iron Man.”

Iron Man stayed true to the spirit of the comic book, while still being enjoyable to someone with no prior knowledge of the character. Action packed, humerous in places, and family friendly in terms of language, etc.
Downey is really good in this. Hope he can stay clean in the future.

One of the best comic book based movies I have seen in a long time. Even though the story line has been updated it has a good venue to convey the comic book original plot line. The cast were the right people for the right characters. Throughout the movie you are given hints of possible future titles for the next movie. Also if you are comic book fan you WILL want to stay intill after the final credits roll to see a surprise flim cut with a special guest. I will not tell you anymore.
The movie is worth paying full price to see, A rare thing in this time & day.
5 Stars Plus

PS.Look for THe Stan Lee walkthrough!!!!

Fun Movie...Worth the Money

Liked this better than all the other comic book type movies. Left the movie looking forward to a sequel. I was the same way about the first Pirates movie too. Glad to see a movie with more focus on the hero and not as much on the love interest. Movie could have been another 30 min longer and would have been fine with me.
Took my 7 yr old and did not feel it was too graphic. Lots of shooting though...just little to no blood shown. Language was not bad either. Seemed I heard one or two minor curse words. Did not seem any worse than a Star Wars movie violence-wise. Saw kids in the theatre from about 5yrs to about 12yrs.

Fun Movie worth the $$

The special effects and the humorous points of the movie make it worth watching at the very least. The only disappointment was that they only played the Ozzy Osbourne song "Iron man" once at the end, it should have been played during the escape scene. At one point I felt like I was watching Transformers.

Parents Beware!

I made the mistake of taking my my two young boys to see the movie. After seeing all the new "Iron Man" toys everywhere, I thought this would be a kid movie. The first 45 minutes or longer had no scenes with "Iron Man" & the content was for adults. My 7 year old, kept asking if we at the right movie. I almost left the movie because the content wasn't for kids. I few times I had to cover their eyes! When the "Iron Man" finally showed up, the movie was great & the kids liked it. The "Iron Man" scenes where a short portion of the movie. I am confused as to why all the Iron Man toys are being promoted to kids (ages 5 to 10). because the movie was directed for adults not kids. I wish they could remake the movie at an age appropriate level for kids.

Best Superhero Movie to Date

Not perfect film, by any means, but best superhero film definitely. Plot is a little thin, despite the number of screenwriters, but it's efficient and gets the job done. Casting is the real star here, and actors deliver sold, non-tongue-in-cheek performances. Can't wait for a sequel.

True to the legend!

As someone that grew up with the original "coming" of the Stan Lee stable of Marvel superheros of the sixties, I must say that this incarnation of Iron Man is one of the best screen adaptations of a Marvel character yet! It is true to the legend of Iron Man, and the writers did a excellent job of moving his origin to fit in with today. I never would have thought that Robert Downey, Jr could pull off Tony Stark, but he does!!! I loved the little things, like keeping Pepper and Happy in the story, and that pesky agent that turns out works for SHEILD! And the usual "after the credits" set up of Nick Fury was a pleasant surprise! In all, the "old-timers" that grew up with, read and collected, and followed the original telling of Iron Man WILL enjoy this movie!!! But more importantly so with those that have never picked up a Iron Man comic book!
