Great plot

Not sure this followed the comic book but it was enjoyable. I would see it again and will get the dvd. Don't care what the paid critics say!

Being an on "old school" Iron Man fan - I have copies of the Tales of Suspense Issues where Iron Man first appeared- I was curious how they play him on the screen.
The screen apdaptation makes Stark more callous and a bigger playboy, but plays well into his transformation to Iron Man. The movie version also takes some liberties with other characters - again they work well for the big screen. Although Jarvis being changed into a computer program seemed to being taking it a little too far. However, it does give the charater some new abilities that a human butler would not have.
Overall, an good update that even this "old school" Iron Man enjoyed.

Good cast! Good story - not the kind that leaves you hanging...The movie tells the story - the ENTIRE story - not just bits that leave you guessing. Good special effects. LOVED Downey - he was utterly adorable. Applause all around. :-)

Great Movie

This movie was great, very entertaining for both kids and adults. We went with two adults and five kids (age 7-10), and no one took their eyes off the screen the whole time! Very captivating!

Great movie

I had heard a lot of good things about Iron Man, but I was really surprised how much I enjoyed this movie. It is a long movie (over 2 hours) but it goes by so fast. The actors were great, and if you are a comic book person you have to stay until after the credits. There is a little surprise at the very end.

Ok, so I am a big sci-fi fan, and I do end up seeing all of the comic book movies eventually, but honestly I have never been a huge Iron Man fan.

Well that just changed. This is probably one of the best comic book hero action movies I have ever seen. There was a real story line that you didn't have to know beforehand to not get lost.

I think my 4-yr put it best:

"Daddy I don't want to be Spider-Man any more, I'm Iron Man!"

This is one of the best comic book movies EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! Robert Downey, Jr. was a perfect pick to play Tony Stark. He was excellent. The writing was supurb, the action was on fire, and it went with current times.

I'm a fan on the comic book and this was a great script and it did the comic book justice.

I'm going to see it again!!! Can't wait for the DVD to come out.

One of the better Superhero Movies!!

Overall this was an outstanding movie and well worth the price and time. The only criticisms I would have is that the the initial build up was a tad long, but I can understand why. I'm 51 and used to read Iron Man comics as a kid. But I know that the vast majority of young people - the primary target for these movies - know little about this superhero. Consequently, there's a lot of time spent on building up the character's origin. But even that had it's suspenseful and eventful moments.

The end got kind of campy, but still good. Besides that village scene, fighter jet scene, and end battle; there wasn't as much Iron Man action as I would have liked - but it left you hungery for the sequel.

RD Jr was an ourstanding choice for Tony Stark. His protrayal in the role was just as I'd imagined Stark to be from my comic book knowledge. He may have just created a new franchise role for himself. Bottom line, a GREAT way to start off the (almost) summer blockbuster parade. A tough act to follow.

My 4 year old waited for months to see Iron Man, so I prepared for another Superhero movie by bringing a magazine. Turns out while HE ran around the theater, I sat glued to the screen. RD Jr. was amazing; the perfect choice for the role. Gwyenth Paltrow was insignificant but did a fair job in a small role and the effects were fabulous. It was a smidge louder than I would have liked but perhaps if there were more than 10 people in our theater at 10:30 on a saturday morning, they would have absorbed some of the sound. Best superhero movie yet.

I had no expectations for this movie, I am not really a sci fi or comic book movie person, but I must say I absolutely loved this movie, so much so I saw it twice in 3 days. I cant think of anything negative to say about this movie. I would put it in the top 10 best movies to come out since 2000.

Girl Flick too

Very entertaining. A few high speed wobbles during the development of the romance. Like the writers walked away for that, and wasted Paltrow and Downey a bit. Terrence Howard was a little lightweight for his role surprisingly, though the rest of the casting was wonderful. But the story, effects, Downey and Bridges...perfect.

Great Superhero Movie

Robert Downey Jr. does a wonderful job playing the well to do, playboy arms dealer, engineer Tony Stark. I haven't seen a character portrayal as good since Ron Perlman in Hellboy. I just hope they continue to keep the same main supporting actors as they all did a wonderful job as well. Looks like a great beginning for the Iron Man series. By the way, don't leave after the credits start rolling. There is a small treat at the end of them.

It's a great movie! I can understand why it got a pg 13 rating though. Their are a couple of graphic scenes where people are on fire and such. I loved it and hope there are going to be more super hero movies like this. The movie had a great message to share. He realized that his company was not only protecting the military but the weapons were being used to kill soldiers. There is a great lesson to be learned here "That we all have to take responsibility for our actions".

Character Driven

Conflicted, complex characters lie at the heart of any good superhero saga. Robert Downey Jr. happens to deliver both in abundance.

This comic based film is perfectly packed with action, gadgetry and gunfire and modernized to include both Afghani terrorists and greedy corporate war profiteers as villains. Providing balance to the explosions is Gwyneth Paltrow, who can barely contain her own enjoyment playing Iron Man’s personal assistant.

Director Jon Favreau has a feel for imbuing films with a blend of pure entertainment and characters filled with vulnerability and humanity. The formula sneaks morality into the popcorn without diminishing the fun factor.

Iron Man is the first superhero movie I've EVER seen that I didn't feel the need to slam the moment I left the theatre. I've been continually disappointed by the quality of the plot, acting, and humor in all the movies I've seen recently, EXCEPT Iron Man.

I've been waiting to see this since the preview first showed up months back. One word could describe the movie. AWESOME!!

I chose to the see the movie in the Digitial format offered, and the picture and sound were great too.

I hope there will be another follow up movie, and I think there was a hint there might be another one, but the ending leaves a little doubt.

This is one of the bet comic book / action hero movies I have seen! Definitely in the top 2 or 3. Robert Downey Jr. is perfect casting He really appeared to be having fun doing this role. I did have some initial doubts about director, John Favreau, but he most assuredly pulled it off! Great action shots and scenes, twists and turns in the plot, and just plain good fun. it was also the first time in a very long time the theater was packed for an 11:30am showing of the movie.

The movie was well paced, witty and had a nice warm feeling. It was a little predictible but what can you expect from a movie based on something most teen-age boys have read.
My only complaints were: I think that they played Jim Stone a little to soft and Ms Everhart didn't get enough screen time.
I'd like to have given the movie 4.5 starts but it was 4 or 5 so I chose 4.

Good Movie in True Marvel fashion

I'd really give it a 4.5 if they allowed that kind of rating.
I thought this was another good movie adaptation of one of Marvel Comic Books. Robert Downey Jr. played his part well. He wasn't quite the hard guy I remembered Tony Stark being and was more comedic but it was still good. Actually the humor mixed in with the action of this movie was very enjoyable. It's definitely a must see and I will own it as soon as it comes out.

And wait for after the credits to see a little teaser. The majority of the theater I was in had already left, but I know how they do things.

Iron man was the best super-hero movie ever. Tony Stark isn't the run of the mill -"oh I got bit by a spider, ooooh that thing gave me powers"-This man sees real problems in the world that he is a part of and BUILDS a suit like no one else could. I"m a 20 year old prissy female and this may be the best movie I've ever seen, trumping my current favorite The Notebook.

I wasn't really into going to this but my four boys and husband wanted to, or else they were gonna die if they didn't see it. LOL

I only seen two scenes that were racy and they cut them very quickly, which was great for the purposes of the kids. It was a good movie overall. Good special effects, great animation in some parts, very good movie.

I being a tech-loving soul, loved the movie for its toys and the fact that I loved the comics, but my wife who had never heard of the comic still found the movie very good with a great story and "neat stuff" throughout. My only regret was not waiting until after the credits to see the bonus footage...
Does make you want an R8 though, may have some subliminal action going...

Very good movie for all ages due to the fact that there was continual action, with minimum violence and the movie was suspenseful.
I can't wait until they release Ironman II. All of the actors in this movie were first class and played their parts extremely well. I will recommend to my friends, children and co-workers.
