Wonderful. My new best superhero movie!
Robert Downey would not have been my first choice....but he MADE the movie...Great performance by all. Jeff Bridges was a believable bad guy...another stretch that worked. I'll see it again and again.

I am an avid Iron Man fan since my teenage years. I think that picking Robert Downey Jr. was a good idea. This movie basically told us how Iron Man got his suit and his turn around to do good. I simply can't wait til they make the sequel it is really going to kick a**!

Iron Man was an excellent movie. It has enough action, some comedy, and a even a bit of romance to keep a viewer interested. The special effects were amazing. Though I would not reccomend this movie for young children, it is a great movie for teens and adults, whether they've read the comic book or not!

Great film with great acting from Robert Downey Jy, Jeff Bridges, and the rest. Nice balance of action, humor, and sci-fi to keep things interesting. Robert Downey Jr plays off his bad boy image but redeems himself much as he has done in real life (particularly with this film). Jeff Daniels, with a bald head, makes a great Iago to our hero, acting as his friend on the surface but as his enemy behind the scenes. The science makes no sense, in reality. A suit with gold in it would never get off the ground, and would not really make an "Iron" Man. But Star Trek played loose with the facts, too, with its dilithium crystals, like Spider-Man and the spider bite.

As a non-follower of the comic (but knows alotta fans of them), I wasn't sure what to expect. My husband and some of my best guy friends were like peeing their pants for this movie till we saw it Lol :-P
Anyways, I'm not particularly fond of chick flicks, I stick mostly to action and comdies. And this was EXACTLY that. Robert Downey Jr. and Jeff Bridges gave THE BEST performances EVER :-D!!!!! But Gwyneth... she kinda over-played her "damsel-in-distress" role as Ms. Potts. The one line, towards the end, where she was like "No Tony, if you do that you'll die" I BUSTED OUT laughing!!!! The action coulda had a couple more minutes, but overall, a MUST SEE!!!!!!
Also- make sure you stay after the creds... We were not able to, and we're all kicking ourselves in the tuckas because of it....

WOW that really sums it up. The perfect movie with the perfect cast! I really can't say enough good things about this movie the story and the plot were awesome. The way they retold the orgins of IRON MAN and then wove it into a relivent yet amazing story that had you guessing was nothing short of awe inspiring . This is what super hero fans have been waiting for. This movie its cast and crew and amazing director are really what this genre has needed. Mr. Downey played an amazing Tony Stark and no one else in the world could of done it with the wit and percision that he did. Mr. Favreau wow what a directing job you did and this was a big one. I believe you took the hardest super hero movie to make and you hit it out of the stratisphere. Ms. Paltrow was the best love intrest slash sidekick any super hero movie has ever had. This movie is a real dream come true. I have been a comic book fan and iron man fan all my life and this movie really out did any dreams or asperations that any one could have. This is the hero movie you always figured was impossible but wow they have done it do your self a favor and go see it!!!!!!! I honestly can't say enough good about it. Everyone envolved in it should most definatly be up for OSCAR's This is the film of the year!

Iron Man is an excellent movie! Well worth the money to see it on the big screen. Robert Downy Jr. does an great job as Tony Stark. Gwyneth Paltrow is amazingly seductive as Pepper Potts. This comic revival has everything ... The effects will blow you away! I laughed, I cried (car guys will understand) and there was even cheering throughout the theater. The only disappointment was the portrayal of the military. As typical, Hollywood didn't get the ranks/billet correct and that fractured the illusion for me.
I'll definitely watch it again before the week is out.

Ever a fan of a good comic book based movie - Iron Man did not fail to provide awe-inspiring special effects. The scenes where Iron Man is putting on his suit never failed to amaze. The computer lab where Stark (Downey) worked to create and test his final suit was impressive.
While the special effects really made the story believable, it was the really great acting on Robert Downey Jr's part that made the film. He was the perfect flawed hero - arrogant and charismatic at the same time. Downey's transition from a cavalier playboy to a civic minded hero helped endear him to the audience. A great supporting cast also helped to develop his personality - from bantering playfully with his assistant Penny (Paltrow) to his sometimes thoughtless actions to his friend James (Howard) to his father-son relationship with Obadiah (Bridges) - Downey never failed to impressive with his wide range of emotions.
Even if you're not a fan of comic book movies - you will definitely want to check it out. Not only are the special effects top tier, but the acting brings the film to a new level. Not since Batman Begins have you seen a comic book film where the actor showed so much depth to his character. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

When you first see previews of Iron Man and Robert Downey Jr. is the leading man, you might think "what a joke". That is until you go see the movie yourself. Downey Jr. is perfect in this role and the supporting cast is great as well. This is a solid movie with more than just flashy action. I give Iron man a Stellar 5 out of 5.

Exceeded my expectations to begin with. Favreau, the writing staff, and of course the actors involved with this movie really did their homework and job well with this one. They took a comic genre that I thought would be very difficult to incorporate into a movie and did very well with it. Definitely worth the watch if you're starving for some good entertainment at the theatre.

I took my 10 and 6 yr olds to see this movie and they absolutely loved it. I'll tell you this, a movie that a 6 year old can sit through the whole time and be glued to the screen is priceless.
On another level, personally I was hoping for a litte more action during the final battle, but I'm still pleased with the ending.

I would highly recommend this movie to everyone. Robert D. Jr. is unbelievably good at Tony Stark, and the movie is so good, even with all the hype, I was still impressed.

Comic books have a reputation for being just for kids. And by proxy, so do movies based on a comic book property. For the most part, Marvel has been able to overcome that stigma. A few hiccups can be seen here or there. A notable instance for me being Spider-Man 3. Where instead of acting all dark and scary as teased in the trailer, Marvel and director, Sam Raimi had Peter Parker do a mean dance and dress like an emo. It's understandable. Who wants their most recognizable asset to scare little kids?
The point is that Spider-Man 3 forwent story for a less offensive character.
Iron Man did not.
Who, besides the Hef, could possibly relate to a self-indulgent, over drinking, wealthy, businessman with a penchant for engaging in one night stands?
Tony Stark spends the first act of the movie acting like a jerk. And by all rights, we should've hated the guy! But we didn't. Robert Downey Jr.'s performance was so charming, witty, and well done, that we forgave his more disreputable qualities and, in fact, sympathized with him when it all turns bad!
A big reason for that is Farvreau's excellent direction and sense of timing. Stark's emotional evolution didn't feel forced. But rather a natural transformation. No small feat given that it took place in a span of 35 minutes or so! And I would be remiss if I didn't mention how surprisingly funny this movie was. Even when I could see the punch line from a mile away, I was still howling with laughter when the time came.
Favreau has directed a well balanced, engaging, and most importantly -- a grown up movie. Sure kids will thrill at the sight of Iron Man taking down a tank, but adult will also appreciate Stark's sudden understanding of responsibility.
I highly recommend this movie to anybody who wants to see something that's just a little different than what they're used to.
