The 1st 1/2 hour is about set up a little slow going. Then the movie shifts gears and starts to pick up spead and I was very pleased with the outcome. Actually the only problem I had with the movie is that after seeing it I know I need to see it again and the 2nd one can go even further. And now the wait begins.
This movie is well worth your time, see it on the big screen.

This flick had the old smell of Stan Lee's Ben Gay all over it ( Which is Awesome!)
This is a dream come true with all of the right players in place and whats better than a comic book storyline?
One adapted to modern day cinema.
Mr. Stark is great, I mean Robert Downey Jr

I cant even find a word for the special effects,
and seamless integration with CGI.

All the yelling in the theater is a bit nerve racking.

Call me old fashioned, but I still enjoy a movie that develops the characters and builds steadily toward the inevitable big action showdown. Jon Favreau is well past proving himself as a director, and yet he takes it to the system once again by refusing to stick to the formula note for note.
The pace of the film, while noticeably slow at times, works to avoid the eye-candy fatigue that happens when you see too much cool stuff in a row. Instead, Iron Man gives you a little bit of amazing at a time during the first two acts, leaving you anxious for the spectacular finish.
Likewise, the viewer is invited to chew on the more subtle, complex character relationships, with excellent performances from all.
This isn't to say the journey is boring. while I loved the big finish, I got just as much of a kick (maybe more) from watching Tony Stark design and test the suit, while exploring his new perspective on life.
My only criticism was in the story structure itself. At times if felt as if some pieces had been wedged in from a different puzzle, at other times I sensed an intrusion by lowest-denominator sensibilities. Perhaps this is an unavoidable side effect of working with a long established franchise.
All in all, I hope Iron Man's success will inform other action directors' decisions, and will convince them they need not be afraid to let ten minutes pass without an explosion.

The entire film kept my husband and I on the edge of our feet it was superb. I don’t recall any odd dead times it was just overall a great movie!

This movie was 2 hours. when it ended, i looked at my watch thinking it had only been 15 minutes. this movie grabs you from the beginning and is one that you don't even need a snack for. along with Casino Royal, Shooter, and S.W.A.T., this movie is one of greatest i have ever seen. there is a reason after 2 months it was still in theaters

I was ready to be disappointed, but this film was great. The plot was flawless, the acting was unbelievable (especially by Robert Downey Jr.), and the direction by Jon Favreau was a testament to his talent. The CGI was dead on in this film. Everything looked great, and felt real. Can't wait for the sequel.

The 3 main characters interacted flawlessly. The action was great. The sci-fi technology was awesome! The story line was great, and not hokey like some action/sci-fi movies. Developement of IronMan's character was well done.

I am not a fan of this kind of movie, but I went with my husband because he was a Marvel comics maniac when he was little. I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it. The updating to Afghanistan was interesting, and I loved all the techie toys!

The story line had been brought up to date, but still true to the original story I remember as a kid. The CG was excellent and well integrated with real-life action.

I agree with other reviewers that the CG and live action were integrated perfectly (not like the last three Star Wars where at times it seemed more like a cartoon.) And while I'm not a Robert Downey fan, I must say he was excellent. I hope there are sequels to this, because as with Spider Man I, etc., we didn't see enough of what Iron Man can do. And he is awesome (and I'm a 40-year old who hasn't read a comic book in 30 years!) SEE THIS MOVIE!

I have only one criticism of this movie. As with a lot of the "comic book to big screen" conversions, this film doesn't quite know how to integrate the two very different mediums. As a result, we get moments and characters that I wanted to be tweaked a bit further over the top. More comic book, less movie.
Robert Downey Jr. is the perfect mix of swagger, genius, and yes, emotion. He represents what's great about the new rash of comic book heroes going all Hollywood on us: they bring an emotional depth to the characters that makes us care about them.
I hope there's a sequel. But I hope it takes the characters and the story further. If so, I'll go along. Just get me one of those flying suits.

This movie far exceeded my expectations. Action and a mostly believable begining, having been set in the current middle east war zone.. draws you in.
The action never stops and I can't say a negative thing about any of the actors... This is a MUST see movie that I will definately add to the video library once it comes out on DVD Video. Don't miss it!

This was one that my fiance and I had seen in theaters months ago and had decided to see. We go to the movies quite often. I'm too scared to calculate exactly HOW MUCH we waste on movie tickets.
We already had seen the trailers, and knew that it looked great. We had absolutely NO idea as to exactly how amazing that it would be. They all did a fantastic job, from the cast, the effects, the plotline. . . EVERYTHING was on point. And as everyone has said, Downey Jr pulled off the role far better than anyone ever could have expected. THey accomplished the impossible, and made a superhero that was believable. They were all absolutely amazing, and for me "Butterfingers" stole the show at some points.
Personally, for me it was never slow. There was never that one point where I was just itching for something to happen. And I think as far as the action was concerned, they handled it really well by focusing more on Sparks's development towards becoming Ironman, rather than so much on "It would be really cool if he blew this up by. . .". I thought that it was a smart way for Marvel to handle it.
It was a great movie, and how cool is it for Marvel to handle their own movies?

I went with ym Grandma, and brother to see this movie. OMG, i loved it! I'm not usally one for these types of movies, but good golly gosh was it fantastic. The action was great, the romance was just enough to get you a little distracted from the action, but not overwellming. And the plot was lovely. Downey Jr. made a comeback that will always be remembered.

This movie was great i wish i had seen it earlier. I will admit they could have cut scenes out to save time. Once i saw the air craft pick him up i knew what was going to happen so i went to the bathroom with out worry of missing anything important. my only problem was right before the credits. he should have never done that. and as for the after credits scene they picked the perfect guy even though he looks wrong. no one else has that big of an ego to play that char
