If you old enough to have read some of the original comics, you'll like the show. I thought the premise was good and the story was realistic. The 18-30 crowd will like it for the action even if they didn't read the comics.

I've always loved Iron Man. My brother used to collect the comics and when I was old enough to read, I'd sneak into the attic and read through his collection.
I don't want to give away any spoilers, so I will try and be as vague as possible, but be aware that there might be some things that are spoiler-ish.
Robert Downey Jr is the perfect Tony Stark. I don't know if there is any other actor thta can pull off the character as well as Downey did. He is the billionaire playboy, his is imperfect, he likes to drink, but he is a genius. A genius who has his world turned upside down and he has an epiphany.
Stark wants to correct the wrongs done in his, his fathers and his companies name, but he is not above revenge or killing if need be. No this is not Batman or Spiderman where they abhore the very thought of killing another. If you need killing, Iron Man has no qualms about it if you have it coming.
The supporting cast is great as well. There is some foreshadowing(war machine, s.h.i.e.l.d) which would be great for future sequels or spinoff franchises. Jeff Bridges plays Obadiah Stane well, while I'm not a Gweneth Paltrow fan, she does a good job with her role as Pepper Pots.
Overall there are a few major "iron man" scenes, the move was listed as 2:06, but it felt way shorter than that. The pacing was great and I could have watched double that and not minded one bit.
Before this, my favorite comic franchises were Raimi's Spiderman Donner's Superman, and Batman Begins. Iron Man now takes the top of that list.
On a side note. There were 2 trailers at the beginning of the showing. The Incredible Hulk(the CGI still looked like Ang lee's cheese to me) and The Dark Knight. I'd say out of those 2 Batman seems to be tops.
I thouhg the CGI was well done and played together well.

I must say that this is one of the best superhero movies that has been out in a while. It was great. Robert Downey, Jr. really played his role of Tony Stark/Iron Man. His supporting cast was great as well. I loved it and can't wait for the movie to his Blu Ray so we can buy it.

It was a lot of detail to the beginning of the story so you have to pay attention. Then it just builds to a great action packed climax & ending. RDJ chose a great movie to make a comeback. Gwenyth Paltrow seems totally out of place in the beginning of the movie, but she kind of fits in oddly enough throughout. All in all, go watch it.

In short, Iron Man is a well-written and well planned action movie. The writing and direction of the movie makes the character accessible to every one (not just us comic fans). There's excitement, cool visuals and a lot of really genuinely funny moments that drive this movie.
But the real reason to see this movie is Robert Downey, Jr. There hasn't been an actor yet who's had as much fun being a comic book icon and it really comes through in his performance. Whether you're an Iron Man fan or a fan of Robert Downey, Jr., you'll really love his portrayal of billionaire playboy Tony Stark.
I don't know what else to really say without talking about the plot or secrets or anything, so I'll just say two things: First, just go see it because you shouldn't be disappointed. Second, if you're a fan of Marvel Comics, make sure you stick around until the end of the credits!

I wasn't expecting much with this movie but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not much for action packed stuff but this movie was great to watch with all of the gadgets and special effects with the suit he wore, and it was nice to see Robert Downy JR doing so well. Also if anyone likes Downy they should check out "Fur-An Imaginary Tale" with him and Nicole Kidman...also a great film.

The trailers for Iron Man promised a lot of action and sarcastic humor, and I'm pleased to see the movie delivered delightfully on both counts. No spoilers, but the nanotech effects with the suit were amazing. Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts was adorable, and the post-credits zinger scene raised the awesomeness of the whole movie to another level.
Loved it!

Its not often where a movie can actually live up to the hype of its disclaimers and the commercials. But, IRON MAN trully does! This movie starts with action and leaves you with it as well. I took my parents and my brother to see this movie ive been following it for about a year and a half along with dark knight and it was 10x better then what i thought it would be everything about it was great the cameos, humor, action, the armor everything fit right in with the comic i loved every bit of it

The new Iron Man ranks high, alongside X2 and Spiderman 2, as one of the best comic book based movies ever made. Downey is perfect. Jeff Bridges is brilliant. Gwyneth Paltrow is forgettable.
If this is the start of a franchise, then it is a fantastic first step. I would never have expected this from the writer of Swingers.

I'm not the biggest Iron M an fan in the world but I have read the comics, as well as the comics for X-Man, Spidey, Avengers, FF, etc.
This movie was the best so far, and I didn't even go in sceptical, I assumed that it would be a great movie... Robert Downy Jr. was BORN to play the role of Tony Stark. I think the casting was spot on for all my beloved characters from the Iron Man series and I can't wait for future episodes in the Iron Man saga... just make sit through the entire credits reel you'll find the wait is worth it!
I'll be seeing this movie a second time on Saturday... it was THAT good... the only other Marvel movie I've seen twice in the theater was SpiderMan.

The movie touches on all the main characters from the iron man comics and even some new ones. The story is nicely written with no loose ends to speak of and doesn't try to over reach itself. The CGI is incredible and worth the look alone. If you love comics and comic movies this will certainly not disappoint. It has a good message at its heart like most comics and Stan Lee should be proud of that.

I was surprised at how well Iron man was done. Everything in the movie hit right on target. Special effects were excellent and not overdone. I recommend if you are a ironman fan to wait and see the small clip after the credits have finished rolling.

There is a very thin line between believability and execution. On top of that, comic book characters were never to be believed in the first place. Then came SPIDER-MAN to the screen and the tables turned. IRON MAN joins a very small list of successful comic book to theatrical releases and I have to say I was amazed, thrilled, humored and humbled at the talents MARVEL ENTERTAINMENT has done with this motion picture.
IRON MAN is not only to be believed, it is to be marveled (no pun intended) as TONY STARK becomes a savior of the people after being it's war mongering playboy showman.
I'll never reveal the plot here but let's just say this is a twofer. What I mean is it's a movie to be seen twice.
IRON MAN rocks beyond all interpertations and if you enjoyed the first SPIDER-MAN or the last X-MEN, run, don't walk, to see IRON MAN.
OH...and hang around after the credits for a really cool surprise. The fan-boy in me squealed with glee!!

Despite becoming hot Hollywood commodities over the past few years, comic book movies have had a spotty record of quality. Iron Man deftly balances straight-ahead Hollywood acting and action with nods to details that comic book fans will appreciate. Also, what sets this movie apart from other action films like Transformers is its willingness to let the actors act and develop character relationships rather than simply advancing the plot to the next CGI explosion. A great achievement, highly recommended.

Ironman is the strongest showing by a Marvel film since the remake of The Punisher. R. Downey is an excellent cast for the role of Tony Stark. The film is long enough to develop the characters of Tony Stark and Pepper Potts, but Rhodey and Colson still need some work. Action sequences are a plus and the special effects are up to standard.

Marvel comics does it again with Iron Man. Following in the tradition of X-Men and the early Spider-Man movies, this comic is nicely adapted to the big screen... perhaps more so for non-comics fans than those who follow the series.
Robert Downey Jr. brings the right mix of "serious" acting and comedic timing to this film. Jeff Bridges is truly creepy if for no other reason than his bald head and caveman beard. Gwyneth Paltrow... well, what is she doing in this film anyway?
Basically, this movie is a fun romp in a world where people can have names like Pepper Potts and nobody even cracks a smile. The special effects are done very well, and there should be enough action and collateral damage for any Die Hard fan. It does get a touch preachy and soul-searching at times, but I'm thankful that wasn't the buik of the time.
You want a couple hours of tasty brain candy? Go see this film!

Overall, enjoyed by our group. If you are at all a "gadget geek", this movie will scratch that itch for you six ways to Sunday. I liked how they showed not only the suit working, but its process for being put on, it's flaws, trial and error, etc. The ending wasn't as "spectacular" as I would have hoped, but it wasn't terrible either. Nice setup and definite tendrils left hanging for a sequel.

This is an amazing and fun film. Solid acting from everyone -
especially the Robert Downey, Jr. who truly becomes Tony Stark
and owns the film. The pacing is lively, the technology cool and full
of spectacle but without upstaging the characters and story. The CGI -
flawless to my eye. This film is pretty much perfect except that it had
to end and that we now have to wait until 2010 for more. I would say
that this film sits comfortably beside Superman (the original 1970's
film), Batman (the Tim Burton film), and Batman Begins as a perfect
adaption of a comic book into an awesome movie. Bravo! Bravo!

I attended the midnight showing of Iron Man last night. Overall I would rate this movie with 4 stars. Script was excellently done and the director chose great actors to play the roles. The visuals were absolutely amazing - many times in the movie the CGI will make you wonder if the scenes are real. The composition was as expected with music ranging from rock to classical. My favorite part was the portrayal of Tony Stark. This movie is a very interesting perspective in the characters life. The plot was obvious - Tony creates war machines that go against protection but turn to offense for the opposition. The only reason I rated this movie a 4 is due to the lack of character depth for the entire comic series (i.e. villains). This however is not the director’s fault it is the fault of the comic series. The ending definitely hints are sequels and possible spin-offs. Some advice - WATCH this movie especially if you are a comic book fan, you will not be let down (Ghost Rider) AND if you can watch the entire credits because there is an additional scene once complete. Final note if you are in the Columbus area purchase reserved seating - no lines, large oversized chairs (more like recliners) and perfect screen placement.

This movie was terrific, it was easily the best Superhero movie since Spider-man. Robert Downey Jr. (while I'm not a fan of his in real life) was perfect to play Tony Stark, he pulled the smarmy, rich, playboy type off VERY well. The special effects were fantastic, the armor was awesome. Make sure you stay through the end credits so you don't miss an important part of the movie, I won't give anything away, but you are missing something good if you leave early.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
