This is a great movie - but here are a few more thoughts:
Robert Downey Jr. is one of Hollywood's greatest actors. His life struggles make his portrayal of Tony Stark even more believable
That said -- this is still a comic book movie -- and totally and unbelievable
But still - an unbelievable movie can still make a powerful political statement
Now I'm rambling in bullet points! There are lots of bullets in this movie.
There is some great acting in this movie from Gwyneth Paltrow, Terrence Howard and Jeff Bridges.
Did you catch Stan Lee's cameo? Hilarious!
John Favreau directed this film to perfection
I don't have anything negative to say about this film -- it's all good
There will be many sequels . . .

Fan of the Marvel Universe? Not sure what exactly a "Marvel" is yet see its name in about half of the the super hero movies that have been coming out. Regardless, if you get your kicks out of explosions and straight forward narration that is slightly predictable, this movie is right up your alley.
For those of us who are rather familiar with the Iron Man story, the movie is relatively canon to an extent, minus a few "here and theres" and the ending, to not ruin any spoilers. And for the few enthusiasts, there is even introduction of a powerful entity during the movie but unless you pick up on it immediately, you won't know what it is til the ending as well, but you will get a good laugh out of it, as did myself and only about 5 other people did in the theatre. But the rich and unabashed Tony Stark, the illuminating playboy that we've come to love (and hate... stupid Super Human Registration Act...) is played out amazingly by Roberto Downy Jr. Everything you'd expect out of the character.
Once you get hooked into your seats and start watching him build the first suit that you see in the trailers, its hard to find any real plausible reason to get out of your seat for any reason whatsoever.

This movie is a fast paced roller-coaster ride, which overwhelms the senses like a 50 ton mega blast of adrenaline. Tony Stark starts as a rich devil-without-a-clue that has his life changed through a near-death kidnapping. As he slowly molds himself into herculean hero, you start to see the charm in Robert Downy, Jr. It all ends in a twist of epic proportions, that has to be seen to be believed. I highly recommend this movie for the whole family (if that family starts in its tweens). The action may be much for some, but take a little shot of testosterone and you will enjoy this movie.

Great start to the movie, and a great start for Marvel films. Great cast giving great performances. Downey is terrific, and Downey and Paltrow are great together. Perfect blend of character, story and action. I can't wait for more Iron Man, but with new and better villans. There is hope for the Hulk.

Great movie, it flowed extremely well and never a boring moment. Anyone, even non comic book fans will love this movie. As for me being a comic book fan for 30 years there nods directly to the different comic versions. I went with friends who had no idea about the history of the character and they thought it was incredible movie. Go see it.

I’m not really big on writing movie reviews but Downey Jr. did a great job of bringing the Tony Stark character to life. The story line does leave questions which the director did point out and it does keep your attention with comic relief and creation of the Iron Man suit. Of the marvel comics that are now being made into movies this is by far the best, a must see.

We saw this movie in DLP. Please if you go see it, I suggest you see it in DLP. I really didnt know much about Iron man. But my fiance' grew up on the comic book, so I took him and my son to see it as a surpise. THEY LOVED IT! I did too for that matter. My Fiance' said they kept the movie excatly like the comic book. They didnt add or take away from it. He said it was the best movie in the world. (That says alot!) So please go see it even if you dont know who Iron Man is, you will enjoy this!

You can really tell when the director loves the premise of the movie. Favreau is clearly a comic book fan. This treatment is well done and even Iron Man purests should enjoy it. The movie stayed pretty true to the comic and only took a little license in bringing it to the big screen. Robert Downey, Jr. is excellent as Tony Stark, but the pacing of the movie is a bit uneven in parts and Terrance Howard's performance is uninspired.

this was the best movie taken froma comic book and brought to the screen that I have seen so far. The action was fast paced and well performed. The actors did a great job, especially Robert Downey, Jr. I think it was his best role to date. I was lucky to see it on May1 at a selected theater before others saw it.

This was a good entertaining movie. Much like Batman Begins, it was a movie that tells the beginning of the tale of Iron Man played by Robert Downey Jr. My only negative was one of the bad guy was the cliched greedy corporate excutive Obadiah played by Jeff Bridges. I like it when writers think out of the box and not go with worn out themes. But other than that, it was a great movie and I would recommend it.

My husband and I are comic book movie freaks. We were so excited to see Iron Man coming out but a little worried about R. Downey and J. Favreau directing. Needless to say we were pleasantly surprised to see them both excel with this film. I don't think anyone else could have played him as well now that I have seen Downey in action and am fervently hoping for a sequel with Favreau directing. I would highly recommend this movie with the exception of a few curse words it is fun for all ages IMO.

IRON MAN, the first picture from newly-financed Marvel Studios, is a great start to the summer popcorn season. Absolutely true to it's Tales of Suspense beginnings (albeit with here-and-now canonical updates), the movie is well-cast (even the cameos -- look for Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan), well written, and almost plausible in its pseudo-scientific explanations. While the ending is the requisite (and eminiently predictable) superhero vs. supervillain clash, the movie is a fun, funny ride getting there. Stay for the closing credits and beyond...

Thisis what summer movie blockbusters are about. Wind you up and GO GO GO!!! Robert Downey jr was perfect for this role! Smart aleck one moment, serious the next and then downright distraught with a plan to make it all better. Favreau has far exceeded in bringing this slightly minor Marvel character to full fledged ICON status! Everyone on screen brings in top shelf performances. Bridges is truly evil as Stane. Paltrow believes in Pepper and gives her best in years. Howard has the chops and will get to use them soon enough.

Me and a group of friends went to see the early showing of the Iron man movie last night. And I have to say, not one of my friends was disapointed by this movie!
Just like all the other Marvel movies, this movie starts off by showing the build up of the main character (Tony Stark) to were he gets his powers, or in this case, his armor. At which point you are then interduced to the main villian of the movie.
The build up to Tony getting the armor is very well don and thought out . Infact it is soo well don, that you do not mind that he isnt even Iron Man yet.
Once he builds the armor and becomes Iron man, you are treated to some very well don fight sense in which you get to see some very nice explosions!! Even the battle with the Main Villian was Awesome!
Throught the movie, there are many commical moments that will have you laughing out loud with everyone else around you. Along with the commical moments, there are a few more seriouse/drama like moments. But these moments dont hurt the story at all and flow very well with the movie.
The movie is also very clean. There was one, brief moment were Tony is making out with a woman in bed, but they dont show anything beyond that. Other than that, and seeing a woman or two dancing, the movie is very clean and i wouldnt mind bringing my kids to see (Sadly i dont have any kids...but if i did i wouldnt mind them seeing this movie)
So...there you go!!! I know I am not the best reviewer out there, but, I hope this review helps some!!! I will say this though, forget the reviews, and just go see the movie, you wont be disapointed!!! OO STAY TILL THE CREDITS ARE OVER!! There is a VERY nice Easter Egg at the end of the credits on this movie!!!

Now this is what I'm talkin' about! Action, humor, suspense and ATTENTION TO THE SOURCE MATERIAL - go figure, the movie turned out great!
Robert Downey Junior takes the role of Tony Stark and runs with it - you could tell he was having a blast, and why shouldn't he? A billionaire with limitless resources and a brand new save-the-world attitude.
A couple of liberties were taken as far as source material goes, but most of them made sense - seeing Stark captured in Vietnam obviously wouldn't have worked, so no real gripes there.
Longtime fans won't be disappointed and there are little nods peppered throughout the entire movie for those readers out there. Terrence Howard is obviously itching to get into his own suit of armor - "Next time, baby. Next time."
Whether you're a fan of the comic or didn't hear about Iron Man until last week, see this movie!

I'm SOOOOOO happy right now. I reeeeeally want a sequel RIGHT NOW. I want to see WAR MACHINE now! Awwww, the suit, the repulsor rays, the flying.... it's all PERFECT. I used to pretend to be Iron Man when I was a kid, and the way he moves and sounds, it's really how I've pictured it in my head all these years, but better. They got everything right. It really has raised the bar. I couldn't have asked for a better Iron Man. I honestly cannot think of anything I didn't like about it... which never happens with comic book movies. Fanboys always pick 'em apart, but I just can't. AND IT FEELS GREAT.
My girlfriend knows nothing about Iron Man and she loved it. Her two favorite superhero movies are Batman Begins and now Iron Man. I have to agree that the quality of the movie is on par with Batman Begins. Batman and Iron Man now have the best superhero films, and they are ironically the two guys who DON'T have powers.
I can't wait until The Incredible Hulk now. The new trailer for it was before Iron Man, and it looks great. Plus Iron Man has a cameo in it. HUZZAH!
I don't wanna have to wait several years for the sequel to Iron Man! There was much cheering and clapping throughout the movie and especially when it was over. This is a superhero movie done right. It actually lives up to it's potential.
STAY AFTER THE CREDITS FOR A HUGE FANBOY MOMENT!!!
